"Hey I have something I want to say to you." she began but her words were still stuck like those of a young child who was still learning how to speak."
"Go ahead my Queen, I am listening to you." Her mother said, keeping her eyes on her cell phone to see whether any of her contacts had called her in regards to what she has been asking from them. She took in a deep breath, and with her eyes opening up to have a view of her mom, she murmured her plans for the night.
"I will be working out late tonight, so she will be the one to come stay with you this night."
The sight that her mother gave her was alarming, but that was because she was not understanding what she was talking about.
"What do you mean by you will be working out late today? Have you started doing something illegal without my knowledge?" she examined her not having something else come up in her brain, she was looking so devastated by the question that she was practically dumbfounded.
" Is it not you that I am talking to?" Her mother asked again with her tone a little bit elevated and that scared her a little bit more, causing her to start thinking immediately of what she was to say.
"Mother, I am having a friend who had told me about a supermarket job and it pays well for extra hours. So I was thinking of doing it tonight to at least get to see how it will go before concluding whether or not to continue." She had lied to her mother but she had no choice. How was she to tell her about her dirty escapades with her boss all because he wants to help her with the money for her mother's medical expenses?
"Are you sure that you are not hiding anything from me?" Her mother questioned her and it made her sweat some more.
"Mommy, you know that I can never hide anything from you and that will be the last thing that I will ever do to you mom," she spoke out approaching her mom to hug her tightly and her mom hugged her back, she told her not to ever hide anything from her as they only have each other to fall back to whether in the good or bad times.
"I know mommy so do not worry about a thing okay? I am here with you and nothing will go wrong." She promised her mom. The aura was getting better but she could not still hold back the feeling of pain that she was having inside of her face with the bitter truth that he'd live was on a balance because, the deposits that the hospital was asking for, could not be made anytime soon. Like where were she and her daughter get such an amount from when they barely have something good some days except when she takes her salary which happens only on month ends.
"Please be careful darling. I do not feel safe with this new job of yours." she mumbled with her face cropped up and it was normal for her to have that feeling about her child.
"Mommy, I will be fine okay? Do not worry yourself." She said hugging her tightly. Hours had passed away and both her and Ashlyn had fallen asleep. The nurse who walked into the room to get her temperature and to check whether or not everything was okay, they both, wrapped up in each other's arms amd it was simply amazing to see how lovely it was.
"Excuse me, I need to check your temperature now," a voice woke them up from their sleep and on taking up their heads, they noticed that it was the nurse.
"How are you feeling now ma'am?" The nurse questioned with a sweet smile on her face and Ashlyn, running her face, said that she was feeling a little bit fine and would love to leave that place as soon as possible.
"I can understand you ma'am, but not to worry, you shall leave from here soon enough before you even know it." The nurse responded. When she was done checking, she looked at her in worry and placed her hand on her forehead once more, before telling her to have something to eat because she was bringing her medicines soon.
She nodded and told her not to worry as she was going to feed her. Haven't taken a look at the time and her cell phone, there were so many missed calls from Blaze but she had but seen them.
"Mommy, let me give you food now okay? I am sure that she will be here any moment from now so do not worry."
Her words were always very refreshing to the soul with her smile popping out like tomorrow did not matter.
"I thank the heavens every day for giving me such a sweet daughter like you now. I am blessed." Her eyes were already giving way but she stopped her saying,
"Why do you always love to look for things that will make you cry, mommy? You better eat your food before it gets cold."
That made them both laugh out so much since she already had a clue of how her mother is and what she loves to do anytime she does something good.
"Damn it," he yelled out in anger, with his hands taking down the vase that was on the table. It was a very expensive one but at that present moment, he did not care. In his mind he was thinking that might be Ashlyn had stood him up and that attitude was something he could not tolerate in anyone.
Picking up his phone and making sure that his message will be passed to her at that time, he aimed at calling her to cancel the deal, and when he did call her, Her cell phone was still silent and she did not pick it up.
After the call got disconnected, his anger had climbed to one hundred degrees with his face turned red like an overripe tomato. His head was immediate, thinking of what to do to her as punishment for making him wait there for him with no signs of her. That was disrespectful to him and he felt like a fool for young there to wait for a woman like that.
"Here, you are done, mom. I am happy that you got some appetite today to eat some more. It is very important to eat in this state." she murmured with joy but the next thing she listened to, was her mom saying that she wanted to go home.
"Go home. Why mom? What about your treatment?" she asked in shock.
"Where is the money, Ashlyn? I think we should just wake up from our sleep and smell the coffee." she spoke out looking and sounding all tired of the situation but she, knowing how it feels to hold on to nothing, held her mothers' hands and said,
"Mommy, you are the most positive person I know in the whole wide world. You should not let that part of you die down because of this okay?"
"But how do we raise such an amount, Ashlyn? We rarely feed and talk more about having other expenses covered up like the rents of the little space where we live, and the water and electricity bills. Now, we have to be paying for this expensive hospital and with each passing day, I am dying slowly. Now tell me, Is this what you call positivity?" She cried out in pain staring at her daughter that was also seated next to her with no possible answers.
Ashlyn was pained to see her mom in that state because she was hr backbone and if she started behaving that way, what will happen to her? It was better for her to do the ultimate sacrifice so that her mom could get back on her feet while she will have the mother she had always had over the years.
Someone knocks on the door, making them snap out of their trance,
"Hello, is there anyone here?" she inquired as she made her apparition into the room.
"Hey, friend. Thank you so much for coming I appreciate it." she spoke out with her eyes giving room for pleasure after catching sight of her friend.
"Hold this please, I brought it for momma," she whispered before walking toward her to hug her. She had practically become like family and she was welcomed anytime to visit.
"Thank you so much for coming to see me again, though I know that you must be tired." Ashlyn let out those words, and she not wanting her to talk too much, told her that it was nothing, compared to what she and her daughter have done for her.
She had high respect for Ashlyn and sometimes with her level of understanding, she wished that she was her mom with the kind of understanding that she has. Touching her cheeks, she was glad to know just how much she loves her.
"So mommy, I will be the one to take care of you tonight, and guess what?"
"What dear?" she asked In wonder what she had in store for her and she responded,
"I brought a lot of films for us to watch and have fun with. I also brought these fruits and some boiled chicken breast soup since I know that you love it so much."
"Oh?" she asked shaking on the bed as she wanted to fix herself up and she nodded in accordance with that.
She was standing at the side of the room was looking like an outcast but the laughter that had cropped up in her throat, was something else. Her and her mother were two crazy people and their duo was too sweet that she avoided being jealous.
"I can see that you got the best company for the night, so you both should enjoy while I run along to get a shower and wear some new clothes," she murmured while picking up her bag and her, turning her gaze to her, asked she why she was still there as she thought that she was not going to meet her even.
"I had to wait for you to come first. Besides, I was too tired so I dozed off unknowingly." She answered back.
"Then your new boss must be a kind man to let you come to work late on your first day." she slammed the info on her face with her eyebrow winking up and down.
"7 pm?" she screamed out when her eyes met the time on her wristwatch and the cold that she was suddenly feeling, had no explanation. She picked up her bad and rushed a kiss on her mom's forehead, she hugged her friend while running out and they both shouted out for her to be careful.
"Oh my goodness, I am screwed." she took her cell phone from her back to place a call to her friend ad neighbor to come to give her some things but then she noticed that she had missed her calls. The freeze in her eyes, mixed with the fear that had taken all over her essence, was something to laugh about
"10 missed calls?" She exclaimed on the road not knowing whether or not to go back home to get a shower and get changed or not. Taking a deep breath, she mustered the courage to call Blaze's contact not knowing what her fate was climb to be and though she was ringing the phone, Blaze was not picking up.
"Please pick it up sir," she pleaded with the fear that he might have gotten mad and cancel the offer which she needed so much at that particular point in her life.
