Chapter 242 242
Chapter 242 242
“You were the exact monster everyone warned me you were,” Blair said, her voice dropping into a razor-thin whisper.
She wiped her face with the back of her sleeve, a cold, triumphant smile breaking through her tears. “And now Mom is out. She’s free.”
A tiny, microscopic twitch pulled at the corner of Olivia’s eye.
It lasted for less than a second.
“You’re terrified,” Blair whispered. “Because the second she opens her mouth to the police, every single thing you built burns to the ground.”
“Shut your mouth,” Olivia gritted out, the words dropping .
The foyer fell into total, dead quiet.
Blair didn't flinch. She raised the medical papers between them like a mirror. “Why? Because I’m stating facts?” She gestured sharply toward Patricia. “Go ahead. Tell her you didn't steal my medical records five years ago.” She turned the papers toward Lucas. “Tell him you were the one who laid on that gurney and gave your blood.”
She stepped directly into Olivia’s space, her breath striking her sister's cheek. “Tell them where you’ve been keeping our mother.”
Olivia’s lips parted, but not a single sound came out.
Olivia’s lips parted, but not a single sound came out.
Blair stared at her, her voice dead steady. “Nothing to say?”
Olivia’s eyes flicked frantically around the grand foyer. Lucas was staring at her with cold, terrifying detachment.
Patricia looked like she was going to throw up. Even the staff standing near the archway were whispering, their eyes glued to her.
Everything was caving in. Her lies, her carefully crafted reputation, her entire life.
Then, a sharp, broken laugh burst from Olivia's throat. “You really think you’ve won?”
Blair’s brows pulled tight.
Olivia glared at her, her chest heaving. “You think because you dug up some five-year-old medical paper, everyone is just going to swallow every single insane lie that comes out of your mouth?”
“You literally just admitted it.”
“I admitted nothing!” Olivia shrieked. “I admitted I let people think I was the donor! That is it!” She slammed her foot down, taking a aggressive step forward. “That doesn't prove a damn thing about anything else!”
Blair’s eyes narrowed into slits. “It proves enough.”
Olivia’s fake smile vanished completely. “No. It doesn't.” She stared down at the documents in Blair’s hands, and whatever remaining thread holding her sanity together snapped clean in half.
She whipped around toward the side console, her hand scrambling until her fingers locked around the heavy metal letter opener.
Patricia gasped, her hands flying to her face. “Olivia!”
Lucas moved on instinct, taking a sharp step forward despite the agony tearing through his ribs. “Put it down, Olivia.”
Olivia spun back around, her knuckles white around the blade, her eyes completely unhinged. “Stay the hell back from me!”
Blair went dead still, refusing to back up an inch.
Olivia’s chest rose and fell in ragged hitches. “You ruined everything. You walked back into my life and ruined everything!”
“Olivia…”
“You don’t have a clue what I had to do!” her voice cracked, shrill and frantic. “I did every single thing for this family!”
Blair stared at her in pure horror and disgust. “You call keeping our mother trapped in a cage doing something for this family?!”
Tears spilled over Olivia’s cheeks. “She was going to ruin my life! She was going to ruin everything I worked for!”
Lucas’s face went dead pale. “What did you do to her, Olivia?”
Olivia locked eyes with him, letting out another jagged, hysterical laugh. “You really want to know, Lucas? You want the details?”
Before the words could leave her mouth, the heavy double doors were thrown open with a violent crash.
“POLICE! DON'T MOVE!”
A wave of armed officers flooded into the foyer, their boots thunderous against the floor.
Olivia’s head snapped toward the entrance, panic blinding her. “What the—”
“Drop the weapon! Drop it right now!”
Olivia backed away toward the stairs, holding the blade out wildly. “No! Get away from me!”
“Drop it!”
Her shaking hands trembled, her wild eyes darting back to Blair. “This is your fault,” she hissed under her breath. “You did this.”
Blair didn't flinch. “You did this to yourself.”
Before Olivia could react, the lead officer lunged forward, grabbing her wrist with a crushing grip. The metal blade clattered onto the floor with a ring.
“Don’t touch me!” Olivia shrieked, thrashing against the officers as they pinned her arms. “Get your hands off me! Do you know who I am?!”
They forced her hands behind her back, the metallic click of handcuffs echoing through the quiet room.
“Olivia Brooks, you are under arrest for unlawful restraint, endangerment, and fraud.”
“What?! No!” She whipped her head around, her eyes wide with terror as she searched the room. “Lucas! Lucas, tell them! Help me!”
Lucas stood frozen beside Blair, staring at her with utter disgust and raw heartbreak written across his face. He didn't move a muscle.
A second officer stepped forward, pulling a notepad from his vest. “We’ve already secured statements from three of your personal staff members, Mrs.Brooks.”
Olivia went completely rigid, the air leaving her lungs. “What?”
“They’ve given us everything,” the officer said flatly. “The facility location where your mother was held, the non-disclosure agreements, and the wire transfers. They co-operated the second we pulled them in.”
The last bit of color drained from Olivia's face, leaving her sickly gray. Her mouth worked, but no words came out.
Blair watched in total silence as her sister was hauled toward the doors, stripped of every shred of power she’d spent five years stealing.
“You’re making a huge mistake!” Olivia screamed, her heels dragging against the floor as the officers shoved her forward. “Lucas!”
As they dragged her past Blair and Lucas, Olivia violently dug her heels in, stopping the officers for a brief, chaotic second. Her eyes locked onto Lucas, wild, bloodshot, and completely desperate.
“I did this for you, Lucas!” she screamed, her voice breaking into a guttural sob. “I love you! Everything I did, I did for us! I swear to God, I did it for us! I’ll get out of this—I’ll be out, I promise you! I’ll fix this, I love you!”
Lucas didn't say a word. He didn't even blink. He just watched her get forced out the door, her frantic screams fading into the morning air until the heavy doors slammed shut behind her.
