Chapter 60 Mr. Brown is Jealous......
Thalia heard Elon's comment and raised an eyebrow. "Honestly, I was just in a bad mood."
"But seeing Mr. Wilson being such a gentleman, I think I can forgive."
Marie stood by, watching the two exchange words, feeling somewhat puzzled. She glanced at William and then smiled while gently grabbing Elon's arm. "Elon, I'll leave Ms. Smith to you."
Elon nodded slightly. "Ms. Smith, shall we?"
Thalia followed Elon into the banquet hall, keeping a comfortable distance. She caught a faint scent of soap from him, a smell she would typically associate with the lower class. But on Elon, combined with his upright posture and courteous demeanor, it seemed to carry a hint of masculinity.
Thalia thought to herself, Oh no... I really am a sucker for a handsome face.
"Why is Elon walking with Thalia?"
"Is Thalia that incredible? Has she given up on William?"
"She's not leaving any chances for us."
"Do all the men in Emerald City have to be with her before we get a shot?"
"First she took all the new talents in Emerald City, now she's after the Wilson family's Elon? Unbelievable."
"Well, she is the princess of Emerald City after all."
Everyone: ..........
"Even if Mr. Smith were to pass away, Thalia would still inherit billions, maybe even hundreds of billions of dollars. A young, beautiful billionaire—what man wouldn't want that?"
With her fair skin, stunning looks, and perfect figure, she's the kind of woman who makes other women jealous and men eager to pursue.
"Thalia, if you started a class, I bet a lot of people would be willing to pay."
Thalia had just walked into the group of socialites when someone made a snide remark.
She smiled lightly. "What would you like to learn?"
"How to seduce men."
Thalia wasn't offended. These people were just jealous of her.
"If you lack natural talent, no amount of effort will help," Thalia said, using her finger to lift the chin of the person who had mocked her, examining her face.
"I'd advise you to give up."
The woman slapped Thalia's hand away. "What do you mean?"
"Ugly people shouldn't try so hard."
Thalia's lazy tone carried a hint of superiority.
Arrogance and a sharp tongue had always been Thalia's trademarks.
Putting these women in their place was easy for her.
After all her years in the entertainment industry, if she couldn't handle her words, what would have been the point of all those years?
"Don't be so cocky. What will you be once your dad dies?"
Thalia leaned in close, her waist twisting seductively. "If my dad dies, I'll scatter his ashes in your yard, so he knows who cursed him while he was alive."
"You... Thalia, you're insane."
"Good-looking people are always a bit crazy. I thought you knew that!"
"You..."
Thalia shook her head. "Look at you, you can't even speak properly, and you want to argue with me? Why bother?"
Watching the other woman storm off in a rage, Thalia chuckled, feeling great.
Indeed—there's no greater joy than building your happiness on someone else's misery.
Better to be the one biting than the one being bitten.
Thalia turned her gaze, her eyes sparkling with a bit of delight.
"You're still as relentless as ever."
Thalia heard a voice and glanced over to see Scarlett standing nearby in a white silk chiffon dress, the long hem trailing on the floor.
"Ms. Lewis, you talk like we're old friends."
"Aren't we familiar?"
She couldn't recall being close to Scarlett.
"Ms. Smith, haven't you ever thought about leaving some leeway for future encounters? Doesn't the Smith family ever face the possibility of downfall?"
"The future? Who knows? What if I latch onto some powerful man? Like... the one your dad has picked for you, William."
Scarlett's face changed.
Thalia walked closer, leaning in to whisper something in her ear.
Scarlett's expression shifted dramatically.
"How do you know?"
Thalia sneered, "There's no secret that doesn't leak."
"I'd advise you to stay away from me. If I get bored and spill this, how will you face anyone?"
Thalia didn't want to argue with these people. Socialites from wealthy families always competed over looks, figures, wealth, and the value of their clothes. It was tiresome.
She looked around, seeking a quiet place to wait for Evelyn, who had been rear-ended on the way.
"Ms. Smith, Mr. Wilson asked me to take you somewhere quiet."
Thalia was wary of the sudden appearance. "Who?"
"Elon Wilson," the waiter said, glancing at Elon standing next to Marie.
The Wilson family was currently chatting with William.
Elon felt Thalia's gaze and nodded at her from a distance.
William followed his gaze and spotted Thalia immediately.
William's hand tightened at his side...
His fingertips slowly rubbed together, as if he were caressing Thalia instead of his own fingers.
Thalia didn't think much of it and followed the waiter to a secluded corner.
As soon as she sat down, she saw Scarlett joining William's group, led by Jasper.
In the shadows, Scarlett's long dress hem covered William's shoes.
It looked rather intimate.
Thalia rested her chin in her hand, enjoying the scene, and even took out her phone to snap a picture of William.
"Mr. Brown, you're quite the lucky man!"
William heard the phone notification, excused himself, and checked his phone. Seeing the picture, he instinctively moved a bit to the side.
But he didn't reply to Thalia's message.
"You're really giving up on him? William is such a great backer, and you're just letting him go?"
Thalia was startled by the sudden voice and turned to see Nicholas sitting beside her.
"Look at that, even the century-old Wilson family wants to get in good with William. Isn't it a shame to give up?"
"There are plenty of men in the world. If one doesn't work out, I'll find another. What's the big deal?"
"But finding another man might not help you win your case!"
"But he won't scam me out of money either."
With someone as black-hearted as William, who knows what tricks he might pull...
