Chapter 424 A Bite on His Earlobe
Thalia stumbled out of the spa room in a daze, eyes half closed as she headed back to the bedroom to continue sleeping. When she reached the living room, she saw William sitting on the sofa with his laptop on the coffee table, looking like he was working.
"Why aren't you in the study?"
"I'll go in a bit."
"Oh..." Thalia rubbed her neck and responded lazily.
What William was actually thinking was that if he went into the study, knowing Thalia's personality, she'd go straight back to the bedroom and wouldn't even know whether he'd come home or not.
"What's wrong with your neck?" William asked.
Thalia replied, "It's sore."
"Where are you going?"
"To bed."
"Come sit with me for a while."
Thalia reluctantly agreed.
Since lying down anywhere was the same, Thalia walked over to William and found a comfortable position, draping her legs over his knees.
Swaying back and forth, totally relaxed. "Have Fallon bring up some snacks."
"Dinner's coming soon."
Thalia sighed, rolled over as she pulled out her phone, and started scrolling through Facebook. When she came across behind-the-scenes footage released by the production crew, she clicked to watch.
The screen full of compliments put her in a great mood.
"What are you smiling about?"
"Look, who's the bare-faced queen? Me! William, you're so lucky to have married me."
Hearing Thalia's self-praise, William couldn't help but let his eyes crinkle with a smile, unable to hold back his amusement.
That restrained expression was especially alluring.
Watching him, Thalia felt like teasing him. She propped herself up and leaned close to William. "You agree, don't you?"
"Did I say that?"
"Will you say it or not?" Thalia hooked her arm around William's neck and pulled him close. Their breaths mingled as she stared at William brazenly, like a hungry wolf.
William was shrewd and knew Thalia was deliberately teasing him, but he didn't resist. Instead, he went along with it, seeming to enjoy being teased even more.
"No." William spoke stubbornly, waiting for Thalia's next move.
Sure enough, the moment William's words echoed, Thalia bit down on his earlobe.
The bite made William's whole body shudder. A tingling sensation spread from his limbs throughout his entire body, pulling out desire and the sinful source within.
The instant he turned his head, Thalia saw restrained lust in his eyes.
For some reason, Thalia felt a moment of regret.
These past few days, she hadn't eaten well or slept well, surviving on coffee to keep going. Coming home, she just wanted to sleep, not make love.
Subconsciously wanting to escape, she started to lean back.
William pulled her back by the waist, making her sit on his knee.
"You think you can run after teasing me?"
"I didn't."
"Dinner's coming."
"Let's do it once first, you're the one who teased me. Try not taking responsibility and see what happens."
"I was wrong, I'm so tired!" Just as Thalia was about to act cute, there was a knock at the door, and Fallon's voice reminding them about dinner echoed outside the living room.
Thalia felt very relieved and tugged at William's arm. "Let's eat first, I'm hungry."
...........
"Grandma didn't mean anything by it. She's always been like this, don't take it to heart. Old people get emotionally unstable sometimes; you just have to be patient."
At the Jimenez Mansion entrance, Sean acted like an elder, advising Michael as if he were the immature one. But just now, when Eileen was cursing him out, he hadn't talked back at all.
"Sean, don't worry," Michael responded obediently.
Sean patted his shoulder. "Are you staying here tonight? We haven't gotten together in a long time."
"Another time. I'm worried Grandma won't be happy to see me, it's better not get in her face."
Hearing this, Sean nodded. "Alright then."
"Sean's really scheming. Does he think everyone's stupid and can't see through him? He came all the way from Regal City, and the first thing he did wasn't visit Mr. and Mrs. Jimenez, but went to Aurora Tower to find you. Obviously, he wanted to drag you back to take the fall for him and shield him from the scolding."
"And saying it's for your own good. Damn it." Henry couldn't help cursing while driving. Michael didn't take it to heart.
"It's not like this is the first day we've known what kind of person he is. Why bother with him?"
"I don't want to, but it's just too infuriating." While waiting at a red light, Henry noticed a black Mercedes behind them looked familiar. He shifted into reverse to get a better look at the license plate through the backup camera.
"Sean's people are following us."
Michael looked back. "They really are."
"Go to Aurora Tower."
"What is Sean so worried about? Even now, he's still guarding against you. Isn't this just marginalizing you?"
"Don't talk about him." Michael rubbed his temples, looking annoyed.
........
"Mr. Jimenez, Michael has returned to Aurora Tower."
Sean stood in the kitchen, holding Eileen's cup, apparently preparing to pour her some water.
"Got it."
Since coming to Emerald City, Michael was getting more and more carefree. Did he not even want the Jimenez family anymore?
Carrying the teacup out, he chatted with Eileen for a while to comfort her, and had just sent her to the bedroom when a call came from Regal City.
"Mr. Jimenez, Mrs. Jimenez went out this afternoon and still hasn't come back."
"Where did she go?" In the hallway, Sean's voice rose involuntarily.
"She said she was going out for yoga, but she still hasn't returned."
Hearing this, the strings in Sean's mind suddenly tightened, he hadn't felt this way even when facing off against Michael. "She went out this afternoon, and you're only telling me now that she hasn't come back? What use are you? Go find her. If you can't find her, don't bother coming back."
"Yes Sir." The person on the other end didn't dare delay and immediately agreed.
"She's missing?" Eileen hadn't fallen asleep. Hearing the noise in the hallway, she opened the door and asked.
"She probably went out for something."
"As soon as you leave, something happens on her end. Sean, if it's not working out, just replace her. Married for three years with nothing to show for it. Not only is she no help to you at work, but she's holding you back in life, too. What do you even see in her?"
"Let me help you rest."
"People too absorbed in romance often can't achieve great things. Why do you do this to yourself?"
