Chapter 371 After All, I'm in a Good Mood Today
"William had another woman, and now he's taken your car too. Don't you think that's hilarious? You've been waiting for this car forever, right? How pathetic!"
"How about you beg me a little, and I'll let you touch the steering wheel?"
"After all, I'm in a pretty good mood today."
"If I were you, I really wouldn't have the nerve to show up here. Look at all these people behind you - aren't they all here to watch the drama unfold?"
Thalia's contemptuous gaze swept over her, and she snorted before turning to head upstairs.
Scarlett was so angry she almost started cursing right there at the bottom of the stairs.
Behind her, someone in a car clicked their tongue and shook their head. "As expected, no surprise there."
"Pay up."
Everyone had already placed their bets on the way over - betting on whether Scarlett would have any chance of winning in today's battle with Thalia. After all, Thalia was the one who stole someone else's car. Scarlett had already paid the deposit and was just waiting to pick up the car the next day, but Thalia snatched it away. This kind of thing was just completely unreasonable.
But who would have thought that Scarlett would disappoint everyone again.
Everyone reluctantly pulled out their phones to scan the payment code.
As soon as Scarlett got in the car, she saw this scene. She had planned to pick up her car today, so she hadn't driven out.
When she got into someone else's car, she saw what was happening.
"We know you're in a bad mood today, so everyone's pooling money to take you out to have some fun!"
Scarlett was a bit skeptical. When had it not been her organizing outings and taking them out to play? When had these people ever voluntarily paid for anything?
"Really?"
"Absolutely."
"Then let's go! Aurora Tower."
Aurora Tower?
The person collecting money froze. The money from their little bet wasn't even enough for tonight's expenses. At a place like Aurora Tower, even a decent private room starts at over two hundred thousand. Their little gambling money added up to just over a hundred thousand. Everyone was just having a bit of fun - who knew...
"She left?" Thalia walked into Evelyn's office, jingling her car keys, seeing her preparing to make coffee.
Thalia looked at her with some confusion. "Didn't you say there was a meeting?"
"I was lying. You actually believed that?"
"So you just left me down there fighting alone?"
Evelyn glanced at Thalia. "Dealing with someone like Scarlett counts as fighting?"
"Are you overestimating her, or underestimating yourself?"
Thalia was speechless.
Evelyn placed the coffee in front of Thalia. "Here, celebrating you getting a luxury car from Mr. Brown."
"That's not how you should put it. I got it with my own skills, okay?"
"Yes, congratulations on getting the luxury car with your own skills." Evelyn understood Thalia too well. Hayden had always loved cars, believing that transportation and collectible antiques were symbols of a businessman's status. Thalia had grown up under his influence - what luxury car hadn't she seen?
Things you've always had since childhood naturally don't interest you when you grow up. So asking her to spend her own money to buy a car? Impossible.
She could spend millions of dollars on a bag, but would never spend millions on a car.
This car must have been a gift from William.
"I need to post on Facebook and let everyone mock Scarlett."
"Post it! Make her furious."
........
"Isn't this the car Scarlett ordered? How did it end up in Thalia's hands?"
"Let me see."
"It really is."
"Did Scarlett cross Thalia again?"
"Probably. Scarlett must be so angry. She posted on Facebook for over a month, and everyone in the circle knew she was picking up her car today. But someone beat her to it."
"Who would have thought that even with Hayden dead, Thalia could still be so domineering in Emerald City."
"Her dad's dead, but doesn't she still have her mom?"
"Her dad might have thought about sharing some love with the Smith family's illegitimate children, but her mom won't."
Thalia is a complete winner in life now.
"Mr. Jimenez, they seem to be talking about Ms. Smith."
Michael sat in another booth and nodded. "I heard."
When he heard "Thalia" and "Facebook," his first reaction was to pull out his phone and check Facebook, but then he realized they hadn't even added each other on Facebook, so he put his phone back down.
"You sit here, I'm going to the restroom." Michael got up, rolling up his white shirt sleeves as he headed to the restroom.
Timing it right, he came out of the restroom and bumped into a man, knocking the phone out of his hand onto the floor.
"How do you walk? Are you blind?"
"Sorry, didn't see you." Michael apologized while bending down to pick up the phone and hand it back, very gentlemanly holding it with both hands and presenting the front to the man. Seeing Michael's good attitude, the man didn't pursue it further.
"Watch where you're going."
Michael smiled as he watched him leave.
What flashed through his mind was Thalia's Facebook caption.
A picture of a car with one caption: [Another happy day]
Simple and straightforward, but those who understood knew there was a lot of information packed in there.
That's so Thalia - stealing someone else's car and not even keeping a low profile about it, posting it so publicly. Wasn't she just trying to attract hatred?
Michael smiled as he walked back to his seat.
"A limited edition Ghost? Thalia really has some nerve, using her dad's money to do this kind of thing, ungrateful daughter."
Michael heard the cursing from the hallway, turned back to look, and immediately spotted Chase in a floral shirt.
Everyone knew that Thalia and Chase's relationship was like fire and water. Even he, an outsider, knew this, and the people of Emerald City were even more familiar with it.
But Chase was completely no match for Thalia.
However, Michael was interested in this person.
During his time in Emerald City, he'd discovered that while people in the elite circles talked about her constantly, they didn't dare truly offend her.
As long as Thalia showed her dislike for him, most perceptive people in Emerald City wouldn't go against her.
So all this time, he hadn't even gotten into the circle.
But Chase was different.
The more Thalia disliked something, the more he wanted to do it, so there was no better choice than Chase.
........
After resting for a few days, Thalia returned to the film set.
Shooting a modern urban drama inevitably meant filming on busy streets.
On an autumn day with rain, wearing short sleeves while filming on the street was cold enough to freeze into her bones.
As soon as the director called cut, Isla quickly rushed over with a padded coat.
"Get in the car quickly, I'm freezing to death."
"It's been raining these past few days, and the temperature's dropped a bit."
"When will it warm up? This is way too cold." Thalia sat in the car shivering from the cold.
Isla rubbed her hands. "The weather forecast says there's no chance of warming up. It's just going to keep getting colder from here."
"This is too painful."
