Chapter 161 Mr. Brown Is Very Irritable
Angelina hesitated for a moment: "I wanted to let you know, but I was afraid Mr. Brown wouldn't be happy about it."
Just as Thalia was about to ask something, the elevator doors opened. Angelina led her down from the ninth floor: "The poor resent the rich, the rich resent officials, officials resent the powerful."
"If William can get leaders to arrange meetings and invitations, he's definitely not an ordinary person. But some things can't come from me," Angelina said, leading her to a stairwell and pointing upward.
"Tenth floor."
"So secretive?"
Angelina lit up her phone to check the time again: "You wait here, I need to go down."
"By myself?"
"Probably," Angelina nodded seriously.
Thalia watched her turn and disappear into the corridor, then looked around and found a relatively inconspicuous spot to sit down.
She pulled out her phone and scrolled through Facebook - no posts about her.
Then she opened the group chat. All kinds of gossip after the drama kept popping up, and someone had posted photos of her leaving with Gregory.
Someone even provided background information on Gregory.
"My classmates all say Gregory comes from a military family. The Lopez family's ancestors all had military achievements. He's just in the entertainment industry to experience life."
"Can't find anything on Google, stop making things up," someone pointed out.
That person replied: "Haven't you thought that some people can't be found on Google?"
"Real big shots live outside of public view."
Thalia had only heard Layla explain the general details, didn't know specifics. Hearing everyone chat about Gregory, curiosity filled her chest. She exited the group chat and opened Google to search for Gregory.
Sure enough!
Only personal background information, nothing else.
Curious, she checked forums.
Still nothing.
Whenever she typed in anything about Gregory's family information, it was all blank.
Thalia looked down at her phone, not noticing someone coming down from upstairs.
And that person was standing behind her, looking down at her, lips pressed thin, silent.
It wasn't until she heard a lighter click behind her that Thalia reacted.
The bar had no main lights for atmosphere - only spotlights on the ceiling fell on William's tall figure, casting a long, broad shadow.
Thalia looked up, feeling like she was looking at a golden, glowing Buddha.
"Can't let him go? Should I send you to him?" William's cold, icy voice dropped down harshly.
"Are you done with your business?"
William looked down at her: "How did you get in?"
In a place like this, forget Thalia - even Angelina would need him to bring her in.
"Angelina brought me in."
William raised his hand to take a drag, exhaled a heavy smoke ring, and looked at Finn standing not far away.
Finn hurried over: "Mr. Brown."
William tapped his cigarette ash in the air: "Send Angelina abroad."
Thalia: ........
William was very angry today. Thalia didn't dare make a fuss, plus this so-called bar gave off a mysterious, oppressive feeling inside and out that made her uncomfortable.
"Go tell them inside, I'm leaving first."
Finn nodded and said he understood.
Thalia followed closely behind him into the elevator, into the parking garage, then climbed into a black Audi A6.
Thalia sat in the back seat, only feeling waves of alcohol mixed with cigarette smoke coming at her.
She had left before the banquet even started today, hadn't touched a drop.
William was different.
He could avoid drinking with business people, but with government leaders, he had to show some respect.
All evening, who knows how much he drank.
Thalia spent the whole ride thinking of what to say, to explain today's events, but then realized that when it happened, William had watched the whole thing - there was no need to explain.
So she just worried about it all the way home.
Entering Maple Grove Villas, when Fallon greeted him, William didn't respond.
William changed his shoes, cigarette in hand, and went upstairs.
Fallon could see the atmosphere between them was off and quickly waved the servants away to rest.
Thalia felt stifled by William's aura, thinking that if she had known William's personality from the start, she wouldn't have married him even if she starved to death.
She had thought William was just driven by competitiveness because she had dumped him before.
Turned out she was wrong.
Thalia worried while meekly following William upstairs, stepping into the bedroom.
As soon as she pushed the door open, she saw the bedroom was pitch black.
"Where are you?"
"Didn't you come in?"
"Why are you like a ghost?"
Thalia muttered, about to turn around.
The moment she turned, she bumped right into William's chest. William pressed her waist, pinning her against the door. An overwhelming, aggressive kiss fell down, fierce and domineering. The smell of cigarettes and alcohol in William's mouth made Thalia unable to breathe. Her desire surged, but William forcefully suppressed it. His hand holding the cigarette fell on her lower back, while his other hand caressed Thalia's delicate little face: "Fallen for Gregory?"
The thick smell of cigarettes and alcohol on William mixed with the strong liquor wrapped around her wildly, drowning her in William's gaze.
"No."
"Then why were you protecting him?" William's palm fell on Thalia's slender waist.
He'd wanted to touch it for a while - since he saw her appear in that waist-hugging, chest-revealing dress tonight, his hands hadn't relaxed.
Now alcohol mixed with anger burned away William's remaining rationality.
He had long known how good Thalia was at moving on, and he knew she liked men like Gregory. Watching her protect Gregory tonight.
He had prepared himself not to let her off easy.
William put out his cigarette, gripped her slim waist and pressed her against the door.
Thalia was scared: "William......"
William's voice was seductive: "Be quiet."
.........
At 2 AM, Amara was on duty at the hospital when she received William's call and was stunned for a moment.
Thinking she'd heard wrong: "Now?"
"The driver's downstairs, come directly."
At 2:50 AM, Amara crossed half the city and even took a section of the outer ring highway to save time. When she arrived at Maple Grove Villas, she was stopped by the guards at the gate to register her information.
As soon as she entered the villa, she felt something was wrong.
Fallon came out from the second-floor bedroom, holding a cup.
Amara grabbed her: "What happened?"
"Mrs. Brown hurt her foot."
"How did she hurt her foot?"
"The bathroom glass broke, Mrs. Brown stepped on it."
Fallon didn't know how the bathroom glass broke and didn't want to say more.
Amara went upstairs and saw the master bedroom sitting room door wide open. William was in his suit pants, his shirt a mess, mixed with women's lipstick and foundation - clearly he'd just been through something intense.
Then looking at Thalia's current state...
