Chapter 87 Reached Out and Hooked William's Neck
The tension in the car was thick enough to cut with a knife.
Even with the partition up, Isla could feel the explosive emotions simmering between the two in the backseat.
She kept her eyes on the road, not daring to say a word.
William gripped Thalia's chin, his fingers digging in.
"Mr. Brown, you want to sleep with me but think I'm dirty. Ever thought that if I were clean, I wouldn't be with you?" Thalia's bold words made William laugh bitterly.
"Ms. Smith, if you weren't clean, how could you have been a virgin before me?" He remembered it clearly; Thalia was a virgin when they were at the hotel. Despite dating Walter for years, she never let him touch her. If she were truly promiscuous, she would have had relations with any man she fancied long ago.
Thalia's face darkened. She slapped William's hand away from her chin. "What does my virginity have to do with you?"
"It does. It makes me happy."
Before that night, William just wanted to sleep with Thalia. But after that night, his desires went beyond just sleeping with her.
Thalia's expression froze at his words. She kicked the back of the driver's seat, prompting Isla to lower the partition.
"Stop the car."
"Don't stop," William ordered, his face dark, not giving Thalia a chance to get out.
Thalia glared at Isla. "Do you know who your boss is?"
Isla understood. She was scared of William, but if she didn't listen to Thalia, she could lose her job. She obediently pulled over.
"Thalia—"
As soon as Thalia opened the door to get out, an electric scooter came down the lane, hitting her directly.
"How do you walk like that? Getting out without checking the mirror?" The scooter rider was startled. He had slowed down when he saw the car stop, but it wasn't enough.
The man started to curse, trying to rally the onlookers against Thalia. But when he saw William step out of the car, he quickly quieted down.
"Keep cursing!"
"Why aren't you cursing now? We parked and got out properly. You're riding against traffic, and you think you're in the right?"
The man didn't dare argue with William. Seeing him in a suit, he knew he wasn't someone to mess with and tried to slip away.
Finn, driving behind Thalia's car, saw the man trying to escape and blocked him with his car.
"What are you doing?" The man stammered, seeing four or five suited men get out of the black Mercedes.
Finn looked ahead. "You hit someone and didn't even apologize, and now you want to leave?"
"Don't think you can bully me just because there are more of you!"
"Bullying? We're all ordinary people!" Finn glanced at his men. "Call the police!"
He didn't want to waste time arguing with this guy.
"Finn, is this necessary?" William didn't like dealing with these unclear situations.
Finn looked at the person speaking. "If this were Mr. Brown's matter, it wouldn't be necessary. But it's not."
Thalia was a celebrity. A scandal could ruin her. If someone twisted this situation, William could destroy them.
...
At the hospital.
Thalia sat in Amara's office, cradling her injured arm, looking dejected.
"William, I suggest you book a VIP room," Amara said, cleaning Thalia's wound with antiseptic. "How much does it cost to maintain someone like Thalia?"
"Be gentle. It hurts," Thalia protested, but it was William who frowned and spoke up.
Amara rolled her eyes at William. "Now you care?"
Thalia was furious. "You're such a jerk."
"Is it my fault?"
"Who else? Myself?" Thalia retorted.
William knew it wasn't the time to argue and went to pay the bill.
...
"Isn't that William?"
"Who?" Aria hadn't heard of William.
Though she was Walter's secretary, Walter was just coasting at the Wood Group and had no real power. He never introduced her to important people.
Winter Hayes looked at Aria disdainfully. If it weren't for the baby she was carrying for the Wood family, she'd never be standing here with her.
"William, the legal king of Emerald City, a rising star in the business world. He took a law firm public, one of the few in the country, and he's the youngest."
"First-generation rich."
"Look," Winter pointed at William coming out with the bill. "A young tycoon of Emerald City."
Aria's face turned pale when she saw William. Wasn't he the man from the yacht that night?
Before she could say anything, Winter noticed Thalia.
Amara was helping Thalia out. She looked pale and teary-eyed, pitiful.
"Thalia..." Winter called out without thinking.
Compared to Aria, the Wood family liked Thalia. She was beautiful, sweet, and generous. On her birthday, Thalia gave her a five-million-dollar diamond necklace. The most expensive gift she ever received. What did Aria have? No designer clothes and a bunch of poor relatives waiting for her to make it big.
Thalia, though weak, perked up at Winter's voice. Seeing William coming back with the bill, she didn't care if he had upset her. She wrapped her arms around his neck, nestling on his shoulder. "Carry me."
William paused, confused.
Seeing Winter approaching, Thalia's mind raced. She couldn't let them see her like this. Walter had already cheated. If his family saw her looking pathetic, it would be humiliating.
"Hurry, carry me, or I'll hit you," Thalia threatened.
Amara was stunned by Thalia's words.
William handed the bill to Amara and lifted Thalia.
Winter was stunned. Thalia and William... were they really involved?
"Thalia?" Winter looked at her, incredulous.
Thalia lifted her face from William's shoulder, feigning surprise. "Winter? What a coincidence! What are you doing at the hospital?"
William was speechless. She was quite the actress.
Amara was impressed. Thalia's performance was top-notch.
"I'm here with..." Winter started.
