Chapter 155 Have You Seen Nora?
Thalia suddenly grabbed William's tie and yanked him toward her.
She leaned close to his collar and sniffed, glaring at him with a fierce and angry expression: "Did you go see another woman?"
The fact that she could smell women's perfume on him was bad enough, but what really got to her was that this particular scent seemed familiar, like she'd smelled it somewhere today.
Thalia's mind was racing.
She stared at William without blinking, not wanting to miss any expression on his face.
But William, far from being angry at Thalia's small gesture, actually felt reassured by it.
When William didn't respond, Thalia slapped him on the neck: "Say something."
"I'm telling you, William, if you dare cheat on me, I'll definitely go find lots of men outside. Nobody's getting off easy."
"No," William suddenly interrupted her.
"What?"
"I said, I didn't go see another woman."
Thalia had been really angry, her rage about to explode, but William's one sentence pushed it back down.
Just as Thalia's emotions settled, she suddenly remembered where she'd smelled this familiar perfume: "Did you see Nora?"
"Yes," William admitted: "At the dinner table. She was Kurt's date."
"Did you two get close?"
"What counts as getting close?"
"Within arm's length."
Thalia said. Just thinking about a woman like Nora being near William made her angry right now. She wanted to throw William into the pool and scrub him hard with a toilet brush.
William paused, considering how to put it. A little misunderstanding between husband and wife could strengthen feelings, but too much would hurt them.
William deflected: "She poured me a drink."
"Did you drink it?"
William remained silent, like a little dog being scolded, obedient yet shrewd.
Thalia dropped her phone, grabbed William's hand, and dragged him upstairs, pushing open the bathroom door.
"Get in and shower."
"Get yourself clean."
William: ........
"What are you looking at? Did you forget how you scrubbed my hands? Don't make me use a toilet brush on you."
William couldn't quite accept that image.
He went into the bathroom to shower. William, who usually took half an hour to shower, spent an hour and a half today.
Thalia moved a stool and sat by the bathroom door, arms crossed, looking fierce.
When William opened the door with a towel wrapped around his lower half, he saw Thalia with her arms crossed, pushing her full chest into a perfect curve. At this moment, Thalia had a mix of pure desire and nobility.
"All clean?"
William casually tossed the towel from his shoulder onto the nearby sink, bent down and trapped Thalia between the chair and himself, leaning close. Thalia's breath was filled with the scent of William's sandalwood shampoo.
"When are you finally going to change this shampoo that's so bland it kills people's sex drive?" Thalia complained unhappily.
"That depends on when Mrs. Brown buys me a new one," William said deliberately. As long as Thalia didn't buy him a new one, he planned to carry this bottle with him, whether going to find her at the film studio or at home......
"Who knew Mr. Brown was so dependent on his wife."
Having been in the bathroom so long, William was now sober, and his gaze on Thalia was clearer.
Their breaths mingled. After washing his hair, William's loose strands stuck to his forehead. Without his daytime elite image, in that brief moment, Thalia inexplicably felt like she was back in high school.
He was still that bright and clear young man.
She was still that carefree princess.
Thalia raised her hand to his nose, her tone teasing: "How come you haven't aged at all?"
Hearing this, William's eyes lifted: "Thalia, I'm not that much older than you."
"Really?"
William responded through gritted teeth: "Yes."
Thalia hummed in acknowledgment.
She pushed William away: "Tell me what happened at tonight's dinner."
William raised an eyebrow. Thalia really hadn't changed at all - her goals were always crystal clear.
Straight to the point.
William's eyes darkened a bit. He took out the hairdryer to dry his hair.
Then he lifted the covers and got straight into bed, completely ignoring Thalia.
"You're just going to sleep?"
"What else?"
"Get up......" Thalia reached out to pull William up from the bed, but as soon as her hand touched William's arm, he used a clever move to pull her onto the bed, rolling over to hold her in his arms.
Their noses touched. The sandalwood scent on William gave Thalia a feeling of cold detachment, as if she wanted nothing. It was lucky that William's scent kept her somewhat clearheaded, otherwise with William's seduction and temptation, Thalia would eventually lose her heart in this marriage.
Sure enough, novels were all lies. What cold woody scent, what cologne smell - all fake. She'd found a man whose scent actually killed desire.
William lowered his head to kiss Thalia, but she turned her head to dodge.
In an instant, William's desire-filled eyes turned red, and he bit down on Thalia's collarbone..........
.......
"Nora, you can get out now."
"Kurt," Nora looked at the car stopped on Emerald City Boulevard. Going forward would be the highway entrance, and here, it obviously wasn't easy to get a cab.
Kurt said nothing, reaching out to pull out an envelope: "What you wanted is inside."
"If you have dreams, focus on acting and change agencies."
Nora was stunned. Before coming to this dinner, she'd imagined many possibilities. After all, the entertainment industry and the capital world had an inseparable relationship. It was common for big capital players to pass women around at dinner tables like playthings.
This kind of thing wasn't exactly a secret anymore.
"Thank you, Kurt."
"Thanking me is useless. Thank Mr. Brown."
If it weren't for what William said before leaving, Kurt wouldn't have wanted to bother with her at all.
Just a Nora... not a standout in the entertainment industry, not beautiful enough to be the top beauty, with nothing to offer except youth, and youth was the one thing this world had plenty of.
"Kurt, could I ask you for Mr. Brown's contact number?"
Kurt was taken aback. He didn't want to give it, but thinking about how William hadn't refused tonight........
