Chapter 292 Handle Her Myself
Chapter 292 Handle Her Myself
Rose panicked and started explaining, "Mr. Grant, this is all fake! Don't believe her! She's just trying to get revenge on me!"
As she spoke, she lunged forward to snatch the documents from the woman's hands.
But I was faster. I intercepted the materials and smiled. "Ms. West, what's the rush? If it's fake, we'll just investigate and find out, right? You know, embezzling company assets—that's prison time."
Rose's eyes went wide with terror. But the fear quickly morphed into rage. She glared at me viciously. "You set this whole thing up, didn't you? You did this to me on purpose!"
I put on an innocent expression. "Ms. West, you're the one who did something shady and got caught. How is that on me?"
I turned to the security guards behind me. "Don't just stand there—escort Ms. West out of the building!"
After Rose was dragged out, that woman left too. Before she went, she gave me a grateful look.
Bill didn't seem surprised by the drama at all. His expression remained unchanged. He walked toward the head of the conference table. Nathan immediately stood up to give him the seat.
After I helped Bill settle into the chair, I started to head to my own spot. But Bill caught my hand, his smile warm. "Stay here next to me."
Bill surveyed everyone in the room with an authoritative gaze before speaking, "Since everyone's here, I'm going to make an announcement."
"Vera is my biological granddaughter, part of the Grant family. You all just found out."
"She's been keeping a low profile. She said she didn't want people knowing who she was until she'd proven herself. So I agreed."
"Today, you all saw what she's capable of at that presentation. I'm proud as hell—my granddaughter turned around a company that was basically dead in the water in just over a month."
"Effective immediately, my granddaughter Vera is the CEO of Grant Group. She'll be handling all management decisions for the company."
The announcement sent shockwaves through the room.
I stared at Bill in disbelief. "Grandfather."
I'd thought about eventually taking over Grant Group, but not this soon.
Some executive raised an objection from below.
"Mr. Grant, Vera's so young and doesn't have much experience running a company. Shouldn't we wait a bit?"
Bill's expression turned serious. "When her parents ran this company, they were around her age. Grant Group doubled in size under them, didn't it? Vera's their daughter. I believe she's got what it takes."
Someone else spoke up, "But her parents' era was different from now. Back then opportunities were everywhere. Now competition's brutal. One wrong move could tank the whole company."
Bill's sharp gaze landed on that person. "So what? Nathan's been at this company for years, hasn't he? With him backing up Vera, what's there to worry about?"
He turned to Nathan: "What do you say?"
Nathan looked down respectfully. "Grandfather, don't worry. I'll do everything I can to help Vera run Grant Group successfully."
Bill nodded with satisfaction. He scanned the room. "Anyone else got a problem with this?"
"Grandpa!" Ruby's voice cut through urgently.
Bill shot her a look of disgust. "Shut up!"
He stared at Ruby coldly. "I don't think you're fit to be at this company anymore. Starting tomorrow, you don't work at Grant Group anymore."
Bill told Nathan. "Take Ruby out. She doesn't belong here."

After leaving the conference room, I walked out with Bill.
I asked him, "Grandfather, do you think I'm too calculating? After what happened today?"
But Bill just smiled warmly. "Business is war. Only the strong survive. In just over a month, you figured out exactly what was wrong with Lumina, found a solution fast, and took out your enemy in one move. That kind of strategic thinking—most people could never pull that off."
"Even Nathan can't match you. That's why I made the call on the spot to make you CEO of Grant Group. I believe you're the company's future."
I joked. "What if I run Grant Group into the ground?"
Bill laughed easily. "As long as you're happy, let it go bankrupt. I'm an old man who's lived a long life and buried two of my own children. I've learned what matters. Family is what actually matters."
I felt genuinely touched.
I said, "Thank you, Grandfather. I promise I'll run Grant Group well."
By then we'd reached the building entrance.
Bill glanced at the black Maybach parked out front and smiled. "That Blackwell boy really cares about you. You're not even off work yet and he's already here to pick you up."

After saying goodbye to Bill, I got in the car with Atlas.
Atlas pulled me into his arms and looked down with a soft laugh. "Congrats on the promotion, Ms. CEO."
I wrapped my arms around his lean waist and looked up with a smile. "Couldn't have done it without my amazing teacher."
Atlas looked at me in his arms, his face full of affection. He pressed a light kiss to my lips. "The key is that you're smart enough and ruthless when she needs to be."
I nuzzled into his chest. "We're a power couple."
Atlas smiled, his hand resting on my back as he asked. "So what's next? You seriously planning to run Grant Group?"
I thought for a moment. "Grandfather's announcement today caught me totally off guard. I wasn't mentally prepared for it. I'll just see how it goes. But getting the CEO position this easily—someone's probably freaking out right now."
Atlas frowned slightly. "You mean Ruby?"
I nodded.
A cold look flashed through Atlas's eyes. "I can take care of her for you."
I sat up from his embrace and looked at him. "I want to handle this myself."
