Chpater 291 Embezzlement
Vera's POV

I watched Ruby's desperate struggle, disgust flashing across my face. Calmly, I said, "Then why don't you have whoever posted those photos release the original, high-resolution version? Let's see who that elderly man really is!"

Ruby glanced at Rose. Rose's face had gone completely pale. She stood up, trying to slip out through the conference room's back door.

But I wasn't about to give her a chance to escape. I needed this meeting to drive Rose out of Lumina Studios once and for all.

"Rose," I called out, stopping her. "Leaving already? The meeting's not over yet."

All eyes turned to Rose. Left with no choice, she sat back down.

I glanced at Ruby, then at Rose, and smiled. "Since neither of you dares to show the original, let me help you out."

The moment I finished speaking, the conference room screen changed again. The pixelation disappeared, and the original photo displayed clearly for everyone to see.

Someone gasped. "That's Bill Grant! The chairman of Grant Group!"

Ruby's face had turned white.

Nathan, seeing things spiral out of control, quickly said, "Today's meeting is adjourned. Everyone's dismissed!"

"Wait!" A powerful voice rang out from the conference room doorway.

Everyone turned to look. Bill Grant stood there, commanding and imposing.

When I saw him, I smiled and walked over, linking my arm through his affectionately. "Grandpa."

Bill Grant looked at me with eyes full of kindness and warmth. He even patted my hand gently.

Bill glanced at the photo on the screen, then coldly asked Nathan, "What's going on here?"

Nathan lowered his eyes guiltily. "It's all a misunderstanding."

Bill said angrily, "Nathan, I'm deeply disappointed in you! I entrusted the company to you, and this is how you manage it? Standing by while people slander my own granddaughter!"

"Holy shit! So Vera's the real Grant family heiress!"

Seeing Bill angry with Nathan, Ruby quickly stepped forward to explain.

"Grandpa, this has nothing to do with Nathan. We don't know who posted the photos either. Maybe my sister staged this whole thing herself to reveal her identity."

After speaking, Ruby even shot me a challenging look.

"Shut up!" Bill was so angry he slapped her across the face. "You think I'm senile?"

The slap sent Ruby's face to the side. She covered her cheek, staring at Bill in disbelief. "Grandpa, what did I do wrong?"

Looking at Ruby now, Bill's eyes held only disappointment. "I saw everything that happened in this meeting room! Vera is your sister. How could you treat her like this!"

"And..." He turned to the security guard behind him. "Bring him in."

The guard left and soon returned, escorting a young man with injuries on his face. They made him kneel before Bill.

Ruby stumbled backward, nearly losing her balance in fear. Rose's face turned even paler, bloodless. Her whole body trembled.

"Speak," Bill commanded, his voice full of authority.

The young man looked miserable. "Mr. Grant, this has nothing to do with me! Ruby paid me to display those photos during the meeting! The photos weren't even mine—Rose gave them to me!"

The room erupted in chaos.

Rose stood up and pleaded with Bill Grant. "Chairman, I did this thinking of the company's interests. I didn't want Vera's personal matters to damage the company's reputation. Please, considering my good intentions, give me another chance."

"Another chance?" Before Bill could speak, I looked coldly at Rose and spoke up. "Rose, this isn't the only thing you've done."

Rose keenly caught the flash of murderous intent in my eyes. Her face pale, she asked, "What do you mean by that?"

I smiled coldly but said nothing.

Just then, a woman burst through the conference room door.

"Rose West, you homewrecking bitch! You knowingly became a mistress, seduced my husband, destroyed my family—I'm going to kill you!"

Before Rose could react, the woman rushed up to her, crying and screaming as she grabbed Rose's hair.

Everyone else was stunned. Not a single person stepped forward to intervene.

Rose bent backward, her scalp in such pain her whole body went numb. She grabbed the woman's hands and pushed with all her strength. "You crazy bitch, what are you doing!"

The woman stumbled back a step, nearly falling. She cried hysterically, "Everyone, come see! This shameless woman's a homewrecker, and now she's hitting the legal wife!"

The way people looked at Rose immediately changed. Some even pointed and whispered.

Rose glared at the woman. "Who the hell are you? Don't you dare slander me! I'll sue you for defamation!"

The woman's eyes were red as she stared at Rose, looking like she wanted to devour her alive. "My husband is the CEO of Premier Props & Costumes!"

She then pulled a stack of photos from her bag and threw them at Rose. "This is all evidence of your affair with my husband!"

There were many photos scattered all over the floor. Photos of the two leaving a hotel, photos of them kissing in a car, even photos of them in bed together.

Rose desperately tried to maintain a shred of rationality, grabbing the woman's hand and pleading.

"Can we settle this privately? I'll definitely give you a satisfactory answer. Please, I'm begging you to leave now."

The woman yanked her hand away and said viciously, "Begging for mercy now? It's too late!"

The woman pulled out a stack of documents from her bag and walked up to Bill.

"Mr. Grant, I'm here to report Rose West for colluding with Premier Props & Costumes, inflating production equipment and studio rental costs, driving up expenses, and pocketing massive kickbacks—over a hundred million dollars! Here's all the evidence!"
