Chapter 282 Set An Example

Chapter 282 Set An Example
Vera's POV

Tina quickly instructed the admin staff. "Count heads, fast."

Soon, the admin people had finished counting. "Two from Sales, one from HR, one from Finance, two from Design, and..."

I turned to the intern. "You done with those termination letters?"

The intern's keyboard clicked one last time, and she smiled. "Ms. Green, all done."

I tilted my chin at Tina. "Put it on the projector."

The termination letter appeared on the projection screen. I looked at it and nodded. "Not bad writing. From now on, you're my assistant."

I looked at the HR director who'd just rushed in not long ago, still dabbing sweat with a tissue. "Process her paperwork tomorrow."

The HR director's mouth moved, like she wanted to say something. My gaze suddenly sharpened. When the HR director met my eyes, she quickly said obediently,"Yes, Ms. Green."

Rose watched the HR director being so compliant, her expression growing increasingly angry.

My gaze softened again. I looked at the intern again. "Now email those who didn't show up. Tell them they're fired."

The intern snapped out of her shock and said, "Yes, Ms. Green."

She sat down and opened her email. The projector stayed on. Everyone present watched step by step as she sent emails to those who were late.

A loud noise at the door. The Sales Director appeared at the doorway, looking rushed. He walked to his seat and was about to sit down.

"Wait," I said coldly.

The Sales Director looked at me, confused. Seeing that I was looking at him with unfriendly eyes. He apologized tactfully, "Ms. Green, sorry, that client I met with was pretty far out, ran a bit late, won't happen again."

After speaking, he moved to sit down.

I looked at him coldly and said, "I said anyone who doesn't make it within half an hour doesn't need to come back."

"Mr. Morris." My gaze was icy. "There's no seat here for you anymore."

Hearing this, he panicked for a moment. But soon, he calmed down. He sat down in his seat without a care, looking at me with a hint of challenge in his eyes. "Ms. Green, you just got here, there's probably stuff you don't know yet. You know how many clients I handle?"

"Fire me, you know how much damage that'll do to the company?"

The Sales Director openly challenged me.

The other six people who were late also stood at the conference room door, having already received their termination letters from HR.

One of the sales backbone staff was the Sales Director's own nephew. Seeing his uncle speak up, he chimed in too. "Ms. Green, it's just a few minutes late, is it really necessary to be so harsh?"

"We were late because we were out meeting clients, thinking of the company's interests. You fire the company's top contributors like this, aren't you afraid of what people will say?"

"Yeah, we don't accept this! We're reporting this to corporate!"

"We're going to the media about this!"

Those who hadn't been late but had been urged by admin to attend the meeting all showed expressions of watching a good show.

"Hmph, besides Ms. West, Mr. Morris contributes the most to the company, has the most clients. I don't believe Ms. Green actually dares to fire him."

"If Ms. Green doesn't fire him, then the others who got fired definitely won't accept it. In the end, today's whole thing will be a farce, a joke."

"Those six people aren't easy to mess with. If they really report to corporate, Ms. Green won't be able to handle the fallout."

"What's scariest is the media. If this causes a public outcry, Ms. Green's reputation in this industry is toast."

Some people shook their heads and sighed.

I looked at the desperate situation before me, but my expression didn't change much.

An ordinary CEO might have compromised. Making a big scene wouldn't be good for anyone. It would damage the company's reputation, not to mention my own. It would be totally thankless.

But I wasn't a pushover. I wasn't going to bow to these people. I adjusted my sitting position.

I smiled and said to the intern standing there, "What's your name?"

The intern, suddenly called on, was confused for a moment and hurriedly said, "My name is Willow Cross."

I nodded and said, "Willow, go make me some tea. I've got a lot to say in a bit, my throat's getting dry."

Willow quickly brought over a cup of tea. I slowly sipped my tea in front of everyone.

I calmly drank half the cup before putting it down and looking at the Sales Director. "Mr. Morris."

I had a hint of a smile on my face, but it didn't reach my eyes. "You do handle a lot of clients, but don't think I don't know what you've been doing behind the scenes."

"September 2024, you closed a thirty million dollar deal, but actually..."

"May 2024, you closed a twenty million dollar deal, but actually..."

"2024..."

"Enough!" Before I could finish, the Sales Director interrupted me, his face pale.

I watched the Sales Director clearly panic and smiled coldly. "Mr. Morris, can't take it already? I know a lot more."

Hearing this, the Sales Director's legs went weak, nearly collapsing.

His face crumpled, even his voice was shaking. "Ms... Ms. Green, I was wrong, I'll follow your arrangements, I'll resign tomorrow."

"Tomorrow?" I scoffed. "I said today. Right now."
