SIXTY-FOUR
**-Indy’s POV-**
I watch Ryan walk out the room and focus myself on the big black wolf besides me. “Raki?”
He lifts his head and stares at me. *Indy…*
“Wooaaaahh.. What did you do?”
*Alpha’s can communicate with each other, a perk we almost lost due to the war and the lack of interaction between werewolves after that. You’re a Royal, which means you’re even stronger than an Alpha. It’s even easier to contact you, your aura is much more intense.*
“I’m baffled, to be honest. but I’m very glad we can communicate now. I - I’m not even sure where to start, Raki.” I feel tears poking behind my eyes. “I’m so - so very sorry!”
Raki pushes his snout against my arm and I lift my hand to pet his head. I let my tears go and I cry above Raki for a few minutes. He licks the tears off of my hand as if he wants to comfort me. Why? What made him change his mind about talking to me?
*I’m sorry for your loss too, Indy. I can feel that Buwan is mourning and having a hard time right now.*
He knows. Of course he does. “Thanks, Raki. It’s… hard.”
I kept silent, not sure where to start and what I wanted to ask or talk about. Luckily, Raki starts talking.
*Indy, we can’t change the past but we can change what we’ll learn from the past. I know that my people aren’t treated rightfully, especially now I’ve seen how a pack can be led, through Scott and Ryan. Khal and I lacked good leadership and I want to correct that. But I’m just a wolf, I can’t lead a pack by myself. And I’m not sure if I want too, either. I appreciate the freedom now, I can run when and where I want, be a wolf. But I also want to take the responsibility Khal should’ve taken years ago.. And for that, I need your help.*
“My help? How? I’m just me, Indy. I don’t have the power to make decisions about stuff like that..” I mumble, not sure what Raki wants from me.
Raki stands up and jumps off the bed. He stretches his legs and walks a few rounds in the room.
*I want you to ask Scott and Ryan if my people can be part of their pack, but with their own Alpha or leader. And I want to be a part of my people, but I’m pretty certain I can’t be their official Alpha anymore. Maybe yóú can be their Luna? You should’ve been in the first place…*
Wait, whut? “Me?” I point a finger to my chest. I laugh out loud, nervously. “Oh boy, no. I don’t think so, Raki… I mean: I’m not even sure how to be a Luna, I’m still learning. And this pack is pretty big, I’m certain I have my hands full with this pack when I’m ready to be their Luna.” I shake my head. “I’m sorry to disappoint you, Raki, but I think we have to talk with Soctt and Ryan. Maybe they’ve a better idea.”
I try to sit straight in the bed, so I can have a better look at Raki. “Raki, I’m very glad you have an idea of how you want to live in the future, but my wolf needs you. I think I need you..” I nervously stare at my hands, folded in my lap. Why am I even saying this? Khal’s dead, right? How can I still feel a pull towards Raki? I’m not sure why, but I do know there is one.
*I’m not leaving, if that’s what you think I’m going to do, Indy. I need you too, the both of you.*
I lift my head and stare into Raki’s eyes. “Really?”
*Off course. Indy, I’m not sure why we feel this way, but we’re connected through Buwan. I guess the bond is extending because of that. It will probably not be as strong as the bond we should’ve had when Khal was right here, but I’ll take it. I want to be part of your lives.*
“Thanks, Raki. You’re truly a good wolf. I’ve always felt the light in the darkness that was going on in Khal. I knew it was yours…”
*Yeah, about that. I felt that darkness too. It was getting stronger over time, at the end it was so strong that I even couldn’t go against it. I watched my human taken over by the darkness and it was hard. I hate to say it, but I even dare to say you did the right thing that night. Khal was on the edge of exploding. You know, when we saw you with Ryan. You smelled like him and Khal was ready to kill them. I have to admit that I even wanted to…*
Raki now stops looking at me and walks towards the door.
“Where are you going? Raki?”
*I want you to know that that darkness is still around, you only killed Khal, not the darkness. It’s probably lurking for another prey. Maybe it has already found one…*
“Raki! Don’t leave, we still have to talk with Scott and Ryan and I’ve so many questions!” I yell.
*Easy girl, you’re tired and need to rest. It was a good talk. You can talk with your men, let them think about my proposal and we catch up later. Say hi to Buwan for me, I need to go.*
And with those words, the big black wolf left the room.

“Soooo.. he still wants to be part of his pack, but don’t want to rule? That’s a bit weird, isn’t it?” Ryan asks while he stares at Scott. “What about Hunter?”
I look at Scott and he’s frowning too. I just explained everything to them and I got the feeling they know something I don’t. What has Hunter to do with all this?
“Hunter?” I ask.
Scott walks to my bed and gives me a kiss. “Babe, listen. Because we first had no chance to get in contact with Raki, there was no way he could stay the Alpha. So we discussed it with the Elders and we decided to have an open fight for the Alpha spott. Tomorrow, there will be a call to all werewolves from this and your old pack, with the date and time: next saterday. Hunter decided he wanted to try too. And we think he has a very good chance to win. But this can make things a bit more difficult.”
“Oooh, I see.” I digest all this and I smile. “Fiona and Hunter will be perfect as Alpha and Luna, but they’re not ‘officially’ Alpha-material and can use some help. Although he and Khal made some mistakes, at least Raki understands what it’s like to be an Alpha. I don’t see any problems, to be honest. I even think it’s a marvellous idea!” I’m getting more excited with every word.
“But it’s not done, Indy. It’s an open fight, which means every wolf can try if they want too. And you know we have many strong warriors and even Alpha-wolves! They’re far more trained than Hunter…” Ryan tries to explain.
I shrug my shoulders. “I’ve seen him, Hunter have lived and survived on his own for almost his whole life. He’s stronger than you think.. We shall see what happens next saturday. But you agree that cooperation between the two packs is a great idea?”
Scott and Ryan both nod. “Yes, that’s a great idea. Let’s hope Hunter knows what to do, because I hate to see how Raki loses his pack if somebody else wins. I mean, I’m not sure if a new Alpha would like to cooperate when he has just ‘won’ a pack..”
I agree. But I believe in Hunter, he’s strong and a fair man. I’m sure he would be a great Alpha…
*Buwan, do you hear this? It’s good news, right?*
Although I’m not getting a response from Buwan, I can feel she’s excited and happy too. And that’s more important to me than an answer. But I’m a bit worried though, she has not spoken to me since the news this day. I hope that she will open to me soon....

Author's note: *Thanks for reading! Do you think Hunter is capable to lead a pack, does he has a chance? And what about Ryan and Scott's parents - they're probably visiting soon... Keep following me and you'll find out! xxB.*
