Chapter 145 Everything
Chapter 145 Everything
Uriel's POV
"Enough is Enough," Shelly bounced my door shut, diving straight for dresser. She began to toss dresses on my body, still surfing through the dresser.
"What are you doing?" I sat up, my eyes red and puffed from crying.
"Brandon is outside there, waiting to take us to a party. The basketball celebratory party to be precise and you're not showing up!" Shelly spun around holding the gown she bought for me once that I dared not wear.
I was pretty sure I had grown way past it. It was too - huggy. I disliked bodycon dresses.
"No," shaking my head, I protested. "No to that gown and to the party,"
"So you're going to sit there and let Mirabel win? Girl, I can't. I will be failing as a friend if I even let you do that," Shelly frowned, laying my mini make-up open on my nightstand.
"Are all these really necessary?" Folding my arms, I asked.
"Did he call you or text you or try to explain to you? No. He left you to think whatever the fuck you want," Shelly was blunt.
But she was right as well.
I deliberately didn't put my phone on DND to see if he'd call. But he didn't.
"Though he debunked the rumor of him and Mirabel dating though and stated that you guys are still together and Mirabel acted highly on adrenaline rush," Shelly added, anger laced in her tone.
Rolling my eyes, I scoffed.
It was even more insulting to me that he admitted that we were together because it would only show how he didn't respect me.
"Do you know if they're attending?" I asked, straightening my spine.
"Maybe, maybe not. I just don't want you staying home all by yourself sucking over who doesn't give two shit," Shelly raised her eyebrow at me. "So, put on that dress because my plan is to make him jealous incase he's present. As for Tinkerbell, I have a feeling she'll be there,"
My teeth grinded against each other.
Maybe it's high time I have a really good chat with her. Maybe use a little finger here and there.
"I'll go,"
Shelly chuckled wickedly. "It was never up for debating, girl."
Without even thinking much about the discomfort and all, I shimmied myself into the gown. It was stretchable, hugging all my curves perfectly. I slipped my legs into a heel and went to sit so Shelly could smoke my eyes and apply her famous lip combo.
"Now that's my girl!" Shelly praised, her eyes carefully taking me in. "Let's go before Brandon cusses the shit outta us,"
I picked my bag, stuffing my room key and phone inside as we ran down to meet Brandon. Brandon's mouth dropped open as he stared at me.
"What's the mission?" Brandon asked.
"Drive, bingo!" Shelly pushed his shoulder. He flipped her off, moving the car anyway.
Shelly passed me a small glass of shot to get the night started. I threw it in my mouth, the scotch burning my throat.
If anything, I didn't need a sober night. I preferred being numb.
"Chile!" Kathie yelled, opening my side of the door when we arrived, pulling me with her. Brandon followed us closely behind, his face scrunched up in disgust.
"Is this how you guys throw party? Looks boring," Brandon yelled over the loud music.
"Excuse you? It's just fucking starting." Shelly eyed him up and down. "Meanwhile, stay here, I'll go get us drinks!"
Shelly ran off, leaving just Brandon and I. Brandon rubbed the back of his neck, smiling awkwardly.
"Are we supposed to dance now?" He leaned close to my ear, yelling.
"I need a lot of booze in my system to do that," I yelled back in his ear, chuckling.
Suddenly my eyes drifted to a corner landing on Ryder and ... Yes, you guessed right.
Mirabel.
My nails dug into Brandon's shoulder absentmindedly. He winced, making me jerk back.
He was saying something to me but all my focus was on them - the two people who were responsible for my constant mood swings and crying.
My jaw locked, my eyes blazing.
So he came to party instead?
My head jerked back when Ryder threw his hands up, yelling aggressively at Mirabel, pointing to her face. She covered her face with her palm.
"That looks intense?" Brandon said from behind me.
Ryder's face turned, meeting mine. My breath hitched. His eyes widened as he rushed to meet me, jumping over a couch. Brandon stood in front of me, shielding me.
"Get the fuck out of my way, man," Ryder sneered, his nose flaring.
"She's not in the mood to talk to you right now, bro," Brandon placed his hand on Ryder's chest, preventing him from coming close.
Ryder shoved his hands off forcefully. "And who the fuck do you even think you are to dictate that? She's my girlfriend!"
"With the attitude you've been displaying earlier with Mirabel? I fucking doubt," Brandon spat back.
"You bas-" Ryder raised his hand up, about to drive it into Brandon's face when I pulled Brandon back with all my might, stepping in.
Risky, I know.
"Enough, you two!" I snapped, looking between them with infuriated glares.
"Baby. Baby, I can explain everything if you -"
"I'm here to party, Ryder. I'm not here for you and I sure as hell don't need your explanation now. I only need a lot of drink. Then I want to dance."
"You reek of alcohol, Kinky. Why are you even wearing this? If you're doing all these to pay me back or annoy me, then it's fucking working!" Ryder scrubbed his hand on his face harshly.
"Keep him away from me, Brandon," I eyed Ryder one last time, walking off.
I made my way to the kitchen, looking to see if I'd find Shelly or any sorta booze at all. Luckily, I found a can of Heineken, taking a long swig. A couple brushed into me, making out aggressively.
Eyeing them, I tossed the empty can I was holding, walking away when Mirabel blocked my path.
"Hey. Can we talk?" She asked, her voice meek. Or maybe it was the drink doing it's magic.
"You're the last person I want to fucking talk to. Get out of my way," I placed my hand on her shoulder, trying to push her aside.
"Just listen to me okay? Just 5 minutes." She pleaded, her eyes growing soft. I accessed her up and down, her eyes were red as blood, her make-up smudged.
Sighing, I moved to a less noisy corner, folding my arms.
"You didn't do anything wrong to me, Uriel. I was just jealous of how highly Ryder talked about you. I was pained from the breakup I experienced a month ago." She explained.
"So?"
"So, I took it out on you two. I wanted to show you two that people couldn't be trusted and hell, I thought it was all pretense and maybe you guys would break. I really am sorry," Mirabel begged
I bit my lips.
"I used to be in a relationship with this girl. She said I was too controlling and insecure." Mirabel sniffled, raising her head up to the ceiling. She paused for a while, a shaky breath leaving her lips.
Sighing heavily, I placed my hand on her forearm, rubbing up and down. Gently.
"The day when I pecked Ryder in the stadium... She was there. I wanted to prove to her that I had moved on without her." Her voice broke, tears streaming down her cheeks.
"But you haven't..."
"Yeah and she moved on so fast. It was as though she had been waiting for that moment where we'll break up,"
I didn't even have the balls to be angry anymore. She was just a girl dealing with heartbreak differently.
"It's fine, Mirabel. You're fine." I engulfed her in a hug.
"Ryder is a really good guy. He loves you so so much. He was oblivious at first to what I was doing with him and then when he finally got it, he yelled so bad at me, I became ashamed of myself. Please forgive him." She clasped her hand together.
The side of my face pricked, the hair on the back of my neck standing. Someone was watching me.
I turned, only to see Ryder staring at me with sad eyes.
"I'll go meet him," I told Mira, giving her a tight-lipped smile. "You and I aren't friends though."
"Got it!"
Nodding, I walked up to Ryder. His eyes lit up when he saw me. He pulled me to a corner when I got close, holding my hand delicately.
"I swear to God, Uriel, I would never hurt you intentionally in my life. I had no idea that Mirabel was using me to heal from her past relationship. I didn't realize I was jeopardizing our relationship by compromising on my boundaries. But I promise you, never again will it happen," Ryder spoke all in one breath.
My lips curled up into a smile. "Mirabel already told me everything."
"She did?"
I nodded. "No more secrets okay?"
"I swear. I've told my coach that I wouldn't be working with her anymore and I didn't care if that meant I had to pay for my own male assistant,"
Smiling, I wrapped my arms around his neck. "Really?"
"Really." He wrapped his arm around my waist, pulling me close. "I don't ever want to lose you, Uriel. You mean the world to me."
"Me too, Ryder,"
"What about Brandon?" Ryder frowned slightly. My eyes darted to the crowd, spotting him immediately with a girl.
"I think he has found a match," chuckling I said. "He's not interested in me and is kinda betrothed. However that works in their place,"
"Better," Ryder sighed with content. "I've missed you so much. So fucking much," Ryder lowered his head, his lips hovering over mine.
The DJ switched the song to 'Dont let me down' by the Chainsmoker.
I need you, I need you, I need you right now. I need you right now. So don't let me, don't let me, don't let me down...
Those were the lyrics.
It felt like it was speaking to us.
"I've missed you too," I whispered, reaching for his lips impatiently. My eyes slowly shut close, my whole body and soul melting into the kiss.
