EVOLET
"What was all that about?" I groaned out, kicking a stone with force.
"Both mother and son are crazy! First she sends for me and poured some stinky liquid on me, then that pervy son of hers dares to hold my hand after what he did?! They are all mad!"
I aimed for another stone but missed.
"ARGH!" I roared, going after the stone and trying one more time. But I kept on missing the kick, increasing my rage.
"Stupid! Stupid!! STUPID!!!" I shouted, stamping my feet on the floor.
Puffing out my steam, I lifted my eyes and found Cadell staring at me in surprise. I don't even know when he shifted into a human. He just stood there with his eyes wide and that mouth slowly spreading into a smile.
"What?" I squeezed my face angrily, suspecting that grin slowly developing on Cadell's face.
"It's nothing," he denied, increasing his smile.
"Are you making fun of me?"
"Making fun of… Oh no, Eve. I will never do such a thing to my lady. Does this face look like the face of one who's making fun of you?" he asked, pointing at his face. Only for him to start cackling out, struggling to hold his laughter back.
" How dare you?!" I groaned, taking off my shoe and chasing this big head!
"Hey! It's your fault not mine! You forced it out of my system!" Cadell defended, running towards a tree.
I was about to throw it at him when he swiftly climbed the tree, away from my reach, and sitting on a branch comfortably.
I drew nearer to the tree but couldn't climb. I just struggled from below, helplessly.
"Cadell! If I get my hands on you, I swear to the goddess that I'm going to smack your head!" I jumped, trying to touch his legs. But it was too far from my reach.
"Ha! I bet you'll go back on your word when you get closer," he said, throwing kisses at me.
On seeing this, I drew away from the tree in disgust, so that air kiss won't get to me. "Pervert."
"Stalker," he laughed at me, jumping off the tree to my point.
Knowing how annoyed I was, Cadell patted me on the head, calling me names he found sweet to his mouth. "My Grumpy weedle puppy is mad. Who made my sweet stalker angry, huh? Come on, tell Daddy."
"Stop that!" I slapped his hand off my head, but this stubborn fellow grabbed my cheek and dragged it like a grandpa struggling to see his grandkid's face.
"Give Daddy a smile. Come on." He dragged my cheeks into a forced smile, laughing at me.
"Much better."
"If you don't want to leave this place with zero fingers, then you better let go," I warned, dimming my eyes at him.
Cadell immediately obeyed, grinning at me like a weirdo. But that smile was kinda contagious. I almost broke out of my anger and smiled back at him, but when I recalled what the Queen did back there, I felt mad again.
"And the whole pack thinks she's a sweet Queen who's looking after us. If she's caring, why will she do such a thing to me?" I uttered, walking side by side with Cadell.
"Ever since I joined the hunt, she has been on my neck like a vulture. I thought she really wanted to speak to me concerning yesterday's incident, only to be baptized with that smelly liquid," I groaned, looking at my top.
It was still wet from whatever the Queen had poured on me and I felt disgusted just flashing to her scary behavior back there.
That's when that word she called me flashed back to my memory. "Spirit wolf. Why was she calling me that?" I asked, looking at Cadell.
He hummed, shrugging at me. "I don't know either. Maybe she got scared of your heroic act last night and felt this Omega is a ghost," he joked, patting my shoulder.
It felt funny but not quite. The Queen and sorceress Thelma looked so desperate to pour that substance on me.
The anger in Queen Chriselda's eyes when she saw me standing was… it was terrifying.
"And Cadell…" I looked at him as he kept walking, looking at a group of ladies walking pass us. "How did he know that the sorceress was there? Is it one of his wolf ability or just something normal in every werewolf? If it was a normal gift in every Werewolf, then I would have noticed that from the Queen. She looked confused when Cadell reacted at first. Seems she didn't know Sorceress Thelma was there until Cadell attacked her. This feels strange to me."
"What are you thinking about?" Cadell asked, pulling me out of my thoughts.
I faced him and noticed him using his hands to size something, but I didn't pay attention to that.
"Cadell… how did you know the Sorceress was there?"
"Is that why you're lost?" he chuckled, bringing his hands closer to me then back. "It's a normal gift I have. You know I'm different from the others. That's why I was able to spot that old hag sneaking behind you. She was shocked," he laughed, bringing his hands closer to my chest then down my waist.
That means the Queen didn't know.
But come to think of it… That bottle the Queen smashed looked like the type used to store potions. If that's what she poured on me, then… why didn't my body react to it?
I know Cadell jokingly said they think I'm a ghost, but I feel there's more to it. They were looking for something and thought I had it in me.
"Spirit wolf. First time I'll be hearing that. Maybe I'll look it up in the pack's library. Surely there must be an info about it," I decided, scrubbing my chin.
"That's fine. Maybe you'll get an answer to that," Cadell said, still bringing his hands to my body.
When I finally placed my full attention on him, I quickly grabbed what this perv was doing.
"Are you mad?! Why checking the size of my boobs and hips?!" I grabbed his collar, pulling him close.
Big mistake.
"Waw, is it time for romance already?" he winked, wrapping his arms around my waist.
I should have thought of that before grabbing him. Now he won't let go!
"Relax Eve. I was just checking out something."
"Checking out what?" I asked, trying to drag his hands off me.
He smirked and said, "Your shape with those ladies. Seems I'm going to stick with yours. It's the perfect size. At least I won't get killed while holding you in my arms."
"Perfect size?" I uttered, feeling my cheeks burning red.
"Yep. You're perfect… for me," he said, releasing his grip on my waist then reaching for my necklace, caressing it slowly.
Seeing how he stared at it, I recalled what happened at my home when the guards came over to call me. Cadell had requested to see my necklace.
He didn't tell me why, but he just held it like the way he's doing now, touching the chain. And that's when his silver eyes flashed, before looking into my eyes with a smile.
"It's pretty," he commented. The same words he said before we left to see the Queen.
Pretty. Is he just calling my necklace pretty or me?
I don't know the answer to that question, but … I like it.
"How about we head to the market and get you a new top? You don't want your mother seeing you like this," Cadell suggested, slowly lowering my necklace on my neck, with his fingers playing on my skin.
My body was reacting to his touch. I wanted him to continue but he had to stop when I flared out on what he just said. "Oh Goodness! I forgot about Mom! Oh no, she's still mad at me for what I did yesterday. What am I going to do?"
I was worried. I don't want my mother to return back to her grumpy nature. It's hard living life with such a temper around.
That's when Cadell suggested that we get her a gift to apologize for yesterday. "Not me, just you. But I'll help you in getting the gift. I'm sure she'll forgive you when she sees what you got for her."
"Okay then. I think there's no harm in trying. Let's go."
"Wait, one more thing."
"What?" I asked, wondering what Cadell wants.
To my surprise, he grabbed my behind and squeezed it!
"CADELL!"
"Yep, perfect for me indeed," he said with a grin, looking proud of himself.
"I WILL CUT YOUR HANDS OFF!" I shouted chasing him.
How did I end up with him?!
He's a mad man! Still, I like his sweet nature. But it's not an excuse to touch me like that!
"Women will flee from you when they see you with NO HANDS!!" I ran after him.
.
Arriving at the pack square, which was close to the market, I was beginning to feel uncomfortable with the way the people stared and greeted me with respect.
It was an odd feeling for me because no one has ever treated me with respect until now.
They haven't gotten over last night's incident. They kept calling me Luna Violet, like I'm the late Queen who has risen from the dead.
It felt kinda creepy, but I had to bear this for now.
"It will die down in no time. Everyone will forget about what happened and move on. Right Cadell?" I asked, looking at him.
He nodded, saying while taking hold of my hand, "Yeah, in no time. Let's check out that store. I'm seeing something nice." He pulled me along to a store where they sell nice clothes and gift items.
Cadell had began to select different tops while the store owner was praising me for last night's incident. "You were amazing, Evolet," the elderly man said, smiling.
"Oh, thank you. But it was nothing, really."
"Don't say that. If it was nothing, the whole pack won't be talking about it. In fact, you can take whatever you want for free. No need to pay."
"Oh no, don't do that, please."
"My child, I insist," the old man pleaded, taking hold of my hands.
I didn't want to take it but Cadell… "May the Goddess bless you with all the income you desire," he prayed for the old man, carrying so many clothes in his arms.
The sight of the clothes stunned the old man. It looked like he was going to have an heart attack. I think Cadell just emptied his shop.
"Get back in there and drop those things!" I grabbed Cadell, pushing him back.
"Aww, not fair," he grumbled, sticking his tongue at me before stepping back into the store.
I apologized to the old man, who smiled at me, saying all was well. "I thought your friend was going to ruin me in one day," he laughed.
If only he knows the kind of man Cadell is.
The old man soon went into the store to assist Cadell while I remained outside admiring the nice gift items on the shelf.
It was the best time to find the one that would please Mom.
"How about this mirror? The one in her room is broken. I better get her a new one," I decided, about to reach for it.
But before my hand could touch the mirror, I saw another hand reaching for the same item.
It wasn't a woman's hand but a man's. When I looked at my left to see this fellow, I felt my whole body vibrate at the sight of the stranger next to me.
His hair was red brown with a nice cool toned skin. His eyes were brown and his body… Waw!
"Hi," he said, slowly drawing his back.
"Um… Hi," I responded, drawing my hand as well.
"I'm sorry. Where you going to buy that?" he asked, pointing at the mirror.
I couldn't speak but glance at the stranger then at the mirror. All I did was shrug and say, "If you want it, it's fine. I'll just get ano…"
"No, I don't want to buy it for myself."
"Oh! I see." I nodded, looking into the store to see Cadell giving the old man a hard time.
"I was going to buy it for you."
"Huh?" my heart skipped at the stranger's words, forcing me to look at him.
He had a smile on his face, as he extended his hand out to me and introduced himself, "Trent. My name is Trent."
This felt weird, but somehow… those eyes. Where have I seen them before?
"Evolet," I replied, taking hold of his hand for a shake.
"I know. Wolf Fall's Luna Violet. That's the latest story in the pack, " he chuckled, still holding my hand.
"Oh, that? Geez." I felt embarrassed, but better when I saw how Trent chortled. It felt nice and soothing.
All of a sudden, my hand was pulled out of Trent's hold. A huge figure came in-between us, blocking my view.
When I looked to see who this wall was… "Cadell?"
He was staring at Trent angrily, shielding me from him.
"Cadell, what are you doing?" I asked, but he didn't answer me. He just blocked my path, glaring at Trent.
I don't like what I'm seeing.
