Chapter 41 41
Chapter 41 41
Episode 41
...
"Hmmm..."
"Alright, I agree with your suggestion. You're incredibly reliable."
"Just hand the proposal documents over to my assistant so I can approve them immediately." Matthias spoke in an unusually warm tone. The smile on his face was impossible to hide. He was even complimenting his employees—something that had never happened before.
Everyone attending the meeting was completely stunned. Their eyes widened, and several of them swallowed hard. They had never seen Matthias act like this.
He was smiling so happily, and not a single person had been scolded. Even a few team members who had made mistakes were let off without consequences. Normally, they would have been bracing themselves for his wrath—or worse, immediate termination. Yet Matthias simply forgave them and moved on.
"Alright." Matthias tapped the table and rose confidently from his seat. The moment he stood up, everyone else immediately followed. "Do your jobs properly."
"I'm looking forward to seeing excellent reports at the next meeting." A grin spread across his face. "As for me, I need to get back to my office."
"My love is waiting for me." He said it with a smile that practically reached his ears. His face was faintly flushed, and there was a warmth in his eyes that none of them had ever seen before. Then he casually walked out of the meeting room.
The second the door closed behind him...
"Oh my God! Since when did Mr. Matthias become such a lovestruck man?"
"I've already seen the photos of his wife in the group chat. She's gorgeous, sure, but I swear there's something else."
"Something powerful enough to turn a monster like our boss into a sweet little puppy."
"I'm still in shock." One employee collapsed back into his chair dramatically.
"I need fresh air. This is too much."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
The Matthias De Grayson they knew was terrifying.
From the moment he first entered the company, he had established himself as someone ruthless, strict, and impossible to approach.
Yet now... He smiled all the time... He looked happy. And somehow, he had become absurdly easygoing.
Of course, everyone knew exactly why... His wife... The woman who had shaken the entire company today.
...
A little while later, Matthias returned to his office. The moment he opened the door, he looked around instinctively but Luna wasn't there.
His eyes narrowed for a second, then he chuckled softly. "Did she really go shopping?"
"Oh God..." A grin slowly spread across his face. "Tonight is definitely going to be..." Matthias closed his eyes briefly. Immediately, countless inappropriate thoughts flooded his mind.
His ears turned red. His mood soared and He was suddenly looking forward to the evening more than anything else. Returning to his executive chair, Matthias sat down and picked up his phone. Without hesitation, he sent a message to Luna.
"Babe, choose the red one. I have a feeling it'll suit you perfectly." He sent the message with complete confidence.
Naturally, he assumed his wife was currently shopping for the special outfit he had hinted at earlier.
Meanwhile...
At Morgan Grayson's residence.
Ding.
Just as Luna was listening to the cruel words coming from her father-in-law, her phone suddenly lit up. She glanced down and opened the message.
The moment she read it... A small laugh escaped her lips.
"I'm at your father's house. He called for me earlier, and I couldn't refuse." Luna quickly sent the reply.
The moment Morgan heard the notification sound from her phone, his expression darkened even further.
She still hadn't answered his question.
"I ASKED YOU A QUESTION!"
"How much do you want?"
"I've investigated everything about you."
"I know you're a former criminal who killed her own grandmother."
"You're someone lower than garbage itself!"
"I will never accept my son being with trash like you!" Morgan's furious voice echoed through the luxurious living room. His words were sharp and merciless.
Luna's fingers slowly curled into fists on her lap. She lowered her eyes for a moment and took a slow breath. She had listened to enough insults, enough humiliation and enough accusations... She didn't want to hear any more.
For the first time since arriving, Luna lifted her head and met the gaze of someone as powerful as Morgan Grayson without backing down. "I'm sorry, Mr. Morgan." Her voice was gentle but firm "My relationship with my husband is worth far more than you think."
"I may not come from a high social class, but I'm confident that I can become the best wife for my husband."
Morgan's brows furrowed.
Meanwhile, Luna continued. "At first, everything was a shock to me."
"When I married him, I didn't understand anything."
"I thought it was just another hardship life had thrown at me."
"I thought fate was playing another cruel joke." A faint smile appeared on her lips. A smile carrying countless complicated emotions. "But as time passed, I finally understood why fate seemed so determined to make me marry him."
"And it turned out I was wrong." Her eyes softened. For a brief moment, Matthias's face appeared in her mind. The man who constantly teased her. The man who annoyed her. The man who made her laugh. The man who accepted her when nobody else would.
"Meeting my husband..."
"It gave me a chance to be accepted again."
"It gave me a family again."
"It gave me someone I could lean on and cry to."
"Someone I could complain to."
"Someone I could get angry with."
"Someone I could whine to without being afraid of being mocked."
Morgan's expression gradually changed, he had expected tears and begging. But not this, not conviction and not sincerity.
"And regarding my grandmother..." Luna's fingers tightened slightly. "I never hurt her."
"I was framed and I will prove that I'm innocent." Her voice trembled slightly at the end but she didn't look away, she didn't lower her head... She simply continued. "So I won't leave him."
"Because he's the only person who has ever accepted me exactly as I am."
"So I'm sorry, Mr. Morgan, I can't accept your offer."
"Excuse me." Luna lowered her head politely. No matter what happened, this man was still her father-in-law. She would not disrespect him. Then she turned and walked away.
Her steps were calm and steady. She wanted to go shopping. Maybe she should buy some of the things Matthias wanted. Perhaps she really should give him a gift after that confession earlier. Because it was that confession that had given her strength. That confession was the reason she had been able to reject Morgan. The reason she could stand here without wavering, because Matthias's words had made everything clear.
If she had to fight for this marriage... Then she would. No matter what happened.
"Hmmm..." A blush slowly spread across her cheeks. "Maybe it won't hurt if I'm exhausted for just one night."
"If he's happy..." A small smile appeared. "Then I'll be happy too."
It was the first time she had willingly decided to indulge one of her husband's requests without feeling forced. The first time she wanted to do something simply because she wanted to make him happy.
...
Meanwhile...
Matthias was already panicking. The moment he read Luna's message, he rushed toward the basement parking lot. He didn't even wait for a driver. He got behind the wheel himself and sped toward his father's mansion.
"Father..." His grip tightened around the steering wheel. "If you've hurt Luna..."
"I'll never forgive you." His jaw clenched. The speedometer climbed higher and higher. Fear gnawed at his chest.
What if his father had done something reckless?
What if Luna had been hurt?
Matthias would never allow that to happen... Never.
...
Back on Luna's side...
After leaving her father-in-law's mansion, Luna found herself alone. Morgan's personal driver had brought her there earlier, but after angering Morgan, nobody volunteered to drive her back.
So she walked by herself. She had already ordered a taxi through an app.
Unfortunately, traffic was terrible. Finding a driver was taking far longer than expected. Not wanting to waste time standing around, Luna continued walking until she reached a larger road.
Then she waited and waited.
"Hmmm..." She glanced left and right. The area was relatively quiet and when a black car drove past, she paid it no attention. It seemed completely ordinary, nothing unusual. She had no idea danger was already waiting for her.
Whoever had planned this had been following her for quite some time — waiting for the perfect opportunity.
And now... That opportunity had arrived.
The black car suddenly stopped... The doors opened, then two large men stepped out.
The moment Luna saw them, her instincts screamed. Something was wrong. She immediately turned and ran. As fast as she could but she wasn't fast enough.
"Ah!" A scream escaped her lips as rough hands grabbed her. A cloth soaked with anesthetic was pressed tightly over her mouth. Her eyes widened.
She struggled but only for a moment, everything quickly became blurry, her strength disappeared, the world tilted and within seconds, darkness swallowed her consciousness.
Her limp body was shoved into the black vehicle.
The doors slammed shut, then the car disappeared.
Whoever had planned this... Would soon learn what Matthias's wrath looked like.
...
Some time later...
Matthias's car screeched to a halt outside his father's mansion. He stormed inside. His footsteps thundered through the house.
Morgan was sitting in the living room, rubbing his temples as if nursing a headache.
The moment Matthias saw him, he roared... "Where is my wife?!" The fury in his voice made even Morgan freeze, because Luna had already left this house long ago.
...
To be continued...
