Chapter 567
Chapter 567
Caden's intention was crystal clear.
Because of Dominic's status, they couldn't openly search for Alvina's whereabouts.
Notifying the police wouldn't help either - they'd be powerless.
But the court was different.
Now that Alvina needed to appear in court, if she kept avoiding it, the court would demand her mandatory appearance. Then they could legitimately take Alvina away.
So Caden didn't hesitate to reveal Alvina's location.
Before long, the court came to the nursing home.
When the news reached Dominic, his first instinct was that it was impossible. He said directly, "Tell these people to go back where they came from."
But his subordinate said with a bitter face, "This time they came with a court summons. If we don't hand her over, that's harboring a criminal."
Dominic fell silent for a moment.
He stood up and paced around twice, then asked, "Wasn't the case closed long ago? Who suddenly brought this up, and what's being re-examined?"
The court summons was quickly delivered to Dominic.
He skimmed through it and immediately understood, letting out a cold laugh. "So it's Caden causing trouble. He's pushing for a case review and brought out so-called evidence, trying to force me to hand her over this way."
And now Dominic really had no choice but to comply.
For a moment, whether helpless or annoyed, he could only grit his teeth and hand her over.
But soon, Dominic realized something else.
The nursing home's location was extremely hidden - how did Caden find out about it?
Did someone close to him leak it?
"Someone around me was bought off?" Dominic immediately dismissed this guess, thinking of someone. "Not necessarily bought off - maybe they just don't like me and decided to switch sides to Caden and Harper."
As for who this person was.
It had to be either his dear ex-wife or Harry, who left with her.
He knew his ex-wife was just an incompetent woman.
So it could only be Harry.
And soon after, evidence of Harry having visited the nursing home was placed before Dominic.
This further confirmed Dominic's suspicion.
He never expected to overlook the two people who knew him best.
He slowly closed his eyes, suppressing the lingering coldness in them.
When he went out again, he was still the upright Mr. Hall.
Dominic met with Caden and Harper.
He asked coolly, "You've gotten what you wanted now. You've been chasing after me for so long - people who don't know might think I've wronged you."
Harper smiled sweetly. "Mr. Hall, saying that means you're blaming me unfairly."
She looked composed, as if she hadn't heard the threat in Dominic's words.
She calmly exchanged pleasantries. "I'm just taking my own mother home - it has nothing to do with Mr. Hall. Of course, if Mr. Hall could stop bothering us in the future, that would be even better for us."
Dominic snorted coldly, watching with cold eyes as Alvina was taken away, then turned and left.
After leaving, he went to find Harry, who was in class at university.
Harry had played an essential role in their successful retrieval of Alvina.
But strangely, the school said Harry had taken a week off.
Dominic immediately sensed something was wrong.
He quickly sent people to check Felicity's current residence. When he discovered the two were still staying at a hotel, he immediately urged the driver to rush there. "These two are planning to run. We must stop them before they leave."
They raced there and caught the mother and son just as they were packing up, about to check out.
Dominic blocked them inside the door.
The moment Felicity saw who it was, her expression changed. She said coldly, refusing Dominic entry, "You're not welcome here. Stop bothering me and my son."
Dominic didn't even glance at Felicity. He said in a heavy voice, "Your son has caused trouble outside. Since you as his mother can't teach him properly, I have an obligation to tell him what it means to respect his father."
"Stop using your title as father to throw your weight around. Have you cared about your son even a little bit all these years? You only have yourself to blame if he's not close to you." Felicity threatened Dominic in a low voice. "Don't force me to expose your schemes over the years in front of my son."
"Woman's kindness!" Dominic looked down at Felicity coldly. "Acting on emotion."
With that, he walked right past Felicity and saw Harry.
He got straight to the point. "You know why I'm here, right? You've gotten mixed up with Harper and her people?"
Harry frowned, very displeased with this tone. "Who I make friends with is my freedom. You don't need to use that condescending tone."
"I just want you to know what kind of people are good for you to associate with." Dominic had now confirmed it was indeed Harry who helped Harper, and his tone was displeased. "Knowing full well that Harper is set on opposing me, you sold my information to curry favor with her - was it for profit?"
Dominic narrowed his eyes. "I remember asking you - if you have difficulties, you can always come to me for help, not go running to two businesspeople."
Harry was very impatient with him. "I told you my business has nothing to do with you."
At this point, Felicity had also figured out what was going on from their exchange.
Her feelings were complicated.
Even if Dominic didn't know, Felicity was crystal clear.
Harry originally had nothing to do with Harper. That they were now entangled together was probably because she herself had chosen to approach Harper back then.
In the end, she had ruined her son's peaceful life.
Naturally, she sided with Harry without a second thought.
She opened the door directly and urged Dominic to leave. "Our business has nothing to do with you."
"Nothing to do with me?" Dominic looked at Felicity with mockery. "Do you know who your son helped? You were willing to divorce me just to get away from that woman."
The anger on Felicity's face suddenly froze.
What did he mean?
She had chosen divorce back then because she accidentally learned of Alvina's existence. And now Harry had helped Alvina?
Why was Alvina still here?
Just as Felicity's mind was in turmoil, she caught sight of Harry looking at her with concern, and she suddenly calmed down.
She continued to Dominic, "This is a private matter between my son and me. Whatever needs to be said, we'll say it ourselves."
With that, she unceremoniously pushed Dominic out.
After Dominic left, only then did Felicity say apologetically to Harry, "I don't blame you. I only feel guilty. If I hadn't approached Harper rashly back then without investigating properly, I wouldn't have brought us all this trouble. And I wouldn't have made you, in your prime years, get involved in things you shouldn't have to deal with because of me."
