Chapter 566
Chapter 566
When Alvina saw Sirius, she blurted out, "Orion?"
Then quickly denied it, "No, Orion isn't as tall as you. You must be Sirius?"
"Ms. Taylor knows me?"
"Although we haven't met before, I'm not so clueless as to not know you exist."
Alvina looked at Sirius with some hostility.
He looked so much like Orion - clearly they were both children adopted by Declan.
Alvina could accept Orion and Stella, and didn't mind that Declan had adopted other children, but she was very bothered by the fact that he had hidden this from her.
Sirius didn't pay much attention to Alvina's expression. He got straight to the point, "If Ms. Taylor is willing, I'll start working on getting you out right away, but I'll need your cooperation."
"I want Declan to come tell me himself." There was resistance in Alvina's tone. She didn't like Declan hiding anything from her. She said, "Let's get things straight first. What exactly is your status now? Have him come tell me in person."
"Those things can wait until after you're out." Sirius glanced around at their surroundings and urged Alvina, "I can't stay here too long, or I'll be recognized. Ms. Taylor, this is the best chance we have right now."
Alvina fell silent for a long time.
Sirius kept persuading her, "Mr. Robinson wouldn't harm you. Even if he's hiding something, it must be for your own good. These things can be dealt with later, but you can't waste this chance to get out just because you're upset."
Alvina looked at Sirius, listening silently to his voice.
She heard him continue, "I'm sure you know that nothing will affect your relationship with Mr. Robinson. If that's the case, why not wait until you're out to clear things up?"
"Mr. Elikin has found new evidence. We can apply for a retrial. Once it's over, you and Mr. Robinson can go abroad to rest and recover together, and no one will ever bother you again."
"Isn't this the life you've always wanted?"
These words really struck at what Alvina had always longed for in her heart.
Everything she'd done before was simply to be with Declan forever.
And Sirius's voice continued like a temptation, "You two can be a perfect couple, never disturbed again. This is what Mr. Robinson wants too."
"Is this really what he wants?" Alvina seemed to suddenly wake up, "You're not lying to me?"
Was this picture, as beautiful as a dream, really not just a trick they were using to deceive her?
Sirius seemed surprised, "Why would Ms. Taylor think that? I came here today naturally with Mr. Robinson's approval. He also hopes I can rescue you as soon as possible and give you back your freedom."
Deep down, Alvina trusted Declan completely and wholeheartedly.
But at the same time, she was someone with extremely strong defenses, and she already had many doubts about Sirius's existence.
She observed Sirius calmly while thinking to herself.
Could this just be a trick by Dominic to deceive her and make her let down her guard?
Alvina couldn't be sure.
At least until she saw Declan, she couldn't confirm on her own that Sirius was really on her side.
So she still didn't clearly agree to Sirius's invitation.
She just said evasively, "Let me think about it more. After I see Declan and he explains everything to me in person, then I'll consider leaving with you."
Sirius was helpless about Alvina's wariness.
Before leaving, he could only try to leave her a communication bracelet, saying, "This bracelet is special equipment that can avoid electronic detection to some extent, but you still need to be careful. Try not to use it unless necessary."
"If you need anything, dial the number on it at eight o'clock every evening. Mr. Elikin will contact you."
When she heard that the person she'd be dealing with was actually Caden, Alvina's expression showed even more rejection.
She frowned and asked, "The person I need to contact is Declan, not Caden. I have nothing to say to him."
"Ms. Taylor, there's no other way. You're under supervision now, and it's risky for us to contact you. To be able to do this much, Mr. Elikin has already made great efforts."
"I only want Declan to answer the phone." Alvina suddenly started being unreasonable.
She had never liked Caden.
She even found his existence annoying.
If it weren't for Caden constantly influencing Harper, Harper would never have completely escaped her control. It was because of him that Harper refused to follow her wishes at every turn.
Especially now when she was in such a miserable state, Alvina was even less willing to let Caden see her like this.
She felt it was an insult to her.
Caden would probably be secretly laughing at her as a beaten dog.
But Sirius regretfully shook his head, indicating he was powerless, "I'm sorry, we can't do that right now. If you want to reunite with Mr. Robinson, your best option is to fully cooperate with us and get the case retried."
"Enough, stop talking." Alvina impatiently interrupted Sirius, "Let me think about it more."
That evening at eight o'clock, Caden waited by the phone on time.
He believed that even though Alvina disliked him, she wouldn't miss such a good opportunity.
This wasn't arrogance, but confidence that with Alvina's intelligence, she wouldn't fail to see the situation clearly.
Two minutes past eight, just as they were about to miss their agreed time window, Alvina finally called.
Caden understood and answered, "Ms. Taylor, long time no see."
"We don't need to reminisce." Even at this point, Alvina only showed impatience toward Caden, "Get to the point quickly. What do you mean by reopening the court case?"
"Exactly what it sounds like. I had a chat with the judge, and we both agreed that there are many questionable points in this case, and Ms. Taylor's sentence was too harsh."
Alvina went quiet.
Nice way to put it - wasn't it just bribery that convinced the judge to reopen the case?
But this was good news for Alvina, so she had no objection. She asked, "So what should I do next?"
"Ms. Taylor doesn't need to do anything." Caden chuckled and said, "When the court reopens but can't summon you, it will be treated as a default judgment, and the consequences will be serious."
He didn't finish.
But Alvina already understood. She sneered, "I was right about you after all. You're not a good person either."
With that, she hung up and waited peacefully for what Caden had mentioned.
Both of them knew exactly what Caden was going to do.
On the day of the hearing, when the judge couldn't get Alvina to show up, Caden would have legitimate grounds to suspect that Alvina had gone missing, and could properly report it to the police and cooperate with the court in searching for Alvina.
As for then, Caden would just need to hand over the location of the nursing home where Alvina was staying.
Everything else would follow naturally.
