Chapter 315 He Couldn't Sleep at All
Chapter 315 He Couldn't Sleep at All
Since this was very detailed work, the authentication process required intense focus. By the time dawn approached, everyone in the studio was starting to feel tired.
Ainsley, being older, was especially worn out.
But Candice seemed to get more energized as she worked, as if she never got tired.
Tristan watched her working so seriously and found himself staring.
Outside, daylight had broken. The early morning light, tinged with pink, streamed in from outside, seeming to cast a glow around Candice.
For a moment, he couldn't look away.
Ainsley noticed this and raised her eyebrows thoughtfully.
The Mortimer family.
When Yasmin and Elijah got up early, they found it strange not to see Candice.
At the breakfast table, the little ones asked Caspian, "Has Mom already left for work? How come we don't see Grandma either?"
Caspian put food in the two children's bowls, then told them, "Your mom didn't come home last night."
The two little ones looked surprised. "Where did Mom go?"
"Your grandma's studio was busy last night, and your mom went over to check on things. She probably stayed to help." Qiana also served food to the children.
She casually mentioned, "She went with Tristan."
As she said this, she seemed to glance meaningfully at Elijah.
Elijah blinked. His face showed nothing, but inside alarm bells were ringing.
This was bad!
Candice and Tristan spent the whole night working together—didn't that give them lots of time together?
He felt like Brandon's chances were getting lower and lower.
Elijah couldn't help feeling worried.
After breakfast, Caspian took them to school.
As they were leaving, they happened to run into Tristan bringing Candice back to the Mortimer family.
The weather wasn't great today—light rain had been falling since early morning.
The two got out of the car, with Tristan holding an umbrella for Candice.
In the rain, the two of them standing together looked quite well-matched.
Tristan was handsome with a gentle, refined manner. As he held the umbrella, worried that Candice might get wet, he tilted most of it over her.
Gabriel looked at this scene and felt even more pleased with this young man.
When they came closer, he asked, "How come it's just you two? Candy, where's Ainsley?"
Candice told him, "Mom's resting in the studio's break room. Things are mostly handled there, so she didn't need us anymore and sent us home."
After hearing this, Gabriel felt a bit concerned.
He knew that Candice worked so hard, and she definitely got that from Ainsley.
He worried that Ainsley wouldn't rest properly when she got busy and would wear herself out, so he decided to go check on her himself.
Gabriel patted Tristan's shoulder and looked at him warmly. "Tristan, you must be tired too. Thanks for making a special trip to bring Candy home."
Tristan smiled and said, "It's no trouble. Taking her home is what I should do, and I'm happy to."
These words carried a hint of intimacy.
But before Candice could react, Elijah immediately spoke up.
"Mom, you worked so hard—working during the day and then helping Grandma at night. You didn't sleep all night. Aren't you really tired now?"
Hearing Elijah's concern, Candice smiled and said, "I am a bit tired, but I'm okay. I just feel bad that I can't take you to school."
Her tone was a bit apologetic.
Yasmin waved her hand generously. "It's okay, we don't blame Mom!"
"Yeah, Mom works hard for me and Yasmin!" Elijah agreed. "But Mom, you need to take care of yourself too. When we came to Silverlight City, Dad told me to take good care of Yasmin and Mom. He said I'm a little man and have a responsibility to look after you."
He brought up Brandon when Candice wasn't expecting it.
Candice's expression froze, and her train of thought was instantly interrupted.
Not knowing how to respond to Elijah, Candice just said, "Mom's really fine. I'll eat something and then go rest."
"That's good."
Elijah nodded, then suddenly looked at Tristan and thanked him very politely. "Thank you for bringing my mom home!"
His little voice was cute, but his words made Tristan raise an eyebrow.
Their eyes met.
This was the first time he'd had a conversation with Elijah.
Although they'd met a few days ago, there hadn't been a chance to talk.
Tristan had learned from casual chats with Candice that Elijah was smart.
But now, Tristan suddenly felt he'd still underestimated this child.
Though Elijah was young, his eyes were wise, as if he could see through things.
Tristan's calm gaze flickered slightly.
Brandon had a good son.
Was this why he agreed to return Elijah's custody to the Mortimer family?
He couldn't be here himself, so he left a child to keep watch.
How interesting!
Tristan smiled gracefully. "Elijah, you're too polite. Before you came to Silverlight City, your mom and I worked together on these things. I'm used to taking her home."
Hearing this, Elijah's little heart felt like it was being pressed down by a big stone.
What! He'd already taken Candice home several times?
This Tristan was definitely not ordinary!
Elijah looked seriously at Tristan, sensing that he'd clearly understood his hint.
No one noticed the silent battle between the big and small.
But Caspian had been watching the time.
Seeing they'd finished chatting, he spoke up. "Alright, Candy, you go rest. I'll take the kids to school first. I have an urgent meeting at the company later."
Hearing this, Candice nodded. "Then you'd better get going, don't let it affect your work."
Elijah immediately looked away and said goodbye to Candice.
Candice hugged him and Yasmin, then watched them leave.
After they left, Tristan also departed.
Candice went to her room, quickly freshened up, and went to rest.
There was a time difference between Brandon abroad and home.
It was evening there. He'd just finished showering and was about to sleep when he was bombarded with messages from Elijah.
"Mom didn't come home last night."
"She went to help Grandma, with Mr. Seymour."
"This morning, Mr. Seymour brought Mom home. I said a few things for you, but Mr. Seymour emphasized that he's worked with Mom many times before."
"That means Mom's work overlaps with Mr. Seymour's, and they'll have chances to be alone together."
"I have to say, Mr. Seymour is smart, refined, gentle, and considerate. When he held the umbrella for Mom, they stood together and even Grandpa thought they looked well-matched."
"Uncle Caspian seems happy about it too. Dad, are you worried?"
"When will you actually win Mom over? Will Yasmin and I ever see our family together?"
"Your efficiency is really weak. You're stuck with work and gone for half a month. Mr. Seymour is different—even when he's working, he's working with Mom."
"Look at you, so slow. At this rate, will I soon have a stepdad?"
Brandon: "What?"
What did he just read!
Elijah was getting bold!
His urge to discipline Elijah was pushed aside by the news about Candice and Tristan spending time together.
He again had the urge to buy a plane ticket and fly back immediately!
He definitely wasn't getting any sleep tonight.
