Chapter 310 His Candy, Still Very Obedient
Chapter 310 His Candy, Still Very Obedient
Candice sensed something was off with Brandon. His mood had shifted in a way she couldn't quite place.
"What are you doing?" She asked, finally managing to put some distance between them.
Brandon pressed his forehead against hers, the picture of innocence. "What do you mean?"
"If you're going to kiss me, just kiss me," Candice snapped, her cheeks flushed. "Why torture me like this? What did I do? Why are you upset?"
Her anger made her look like a kitten with its fur standing on end.
Brandon narrowed his eyes. "You noticed, huh?"
Candice furrowed her brow, staring him down without a word.
"I was contemplating whether to punish you," he said, his voice low and magnetic against her ear. "While I was away, you went out with friends—including another man—to a dangerous place."
He sighed. "But I can't bring myself to do it. At the same time, I'm frustrated that so many men are pursuing you. You've barely been back in Silverlight City for a few days, and they're already circling."
His voice dropped even lower. "I want to take you home and keep you all to myself, but I know that would make you unhappy. And your family wouldn't approve either."
Candice's expression morphed into utter shock. She never imagined Brandon's thoughts ran so deep or that these concerns had been weighing on him.
When she remained silent, Brandon leaned in again, gently nipping at her lip before continuing. "But it's okay. I've figured it out. Candice, I told you to wait for me, so I'll court you properly. If your family doesn't approve, I'll take the time to win them over. Eventually, they'll come around. Just keep your eyes on me, okay? We have two children together, remember?"
Candice's mouth hung half-open, at a loss for words. Even if she refused him, she knew Brandon probably wouldn't accept it.
Lost in thought, she didn't notice Brandon watching her quietly, not pressing for an answer.
Only when Ulysses's voice drifted faintly from the direction of the private dining room did Brandon finally step back. He gently wiped away the smeared lipstick from her lips. "Let's go back now."
Candice's mind was still foggy, unable to process what had just happened.
It wasn't until they left the restaurant and settled into the car that reality crashed back. Had Brandon actually been sweet-talking her? She'd witnessed his jealousy firsthand.
God, was that really Brandon?
The moment the thought crossed her mind, she remembered his possessive kiss, and her ears turned hot.
When he was cold, he was truly ruthless. When had he suddenly become so... romantic? How did those sweet words roll off his tongue so easily?
Candice's heart began that telltale racing only after the fact.
Ulysses, noticing her odd expression, asked with concern, "Candy, are you okay? Your face looks flushed. Are you feeling sick?"
Candice snapped out of her mental replay, quickly shaking her head. "No, I'm just hot after eating."
"I see. Let's turn the AC up a bit then." Ulysses didn't suspect anything more.
In the other car, Brandon was in exceptionally high spirits.
His jealousy was real, as was his worry about losing her to someone else.
But his Candy was still his—she only let him kiss her, hold her!
All things considered, his chances of bringing his wife home looked promising!
The thought energized Brandon even more.
He instructed Knox, "When we get to the amusement park, find a way to distract Ulysses."
This was a rare opportunity, and he wanted quality time with his wife and children.
Having Ulysses around would interfere with their family bonding.
Knox immediately complied, "Consider it done!"
Soon, they arrived at the amusement park.
After getting out of the cars, the children had already worked out with Candice which attractions they wanted to visit.
Being a celebrity, Ulysses couldn't appear openly in such a crowded place, so he dressed inconspicuously, wearing both a cap and sunglasses.
News had broken online that morning that he had returned to Silverlight City immediately after filming his variety show.
Most fans would assume he was at home catching up on sleep—no one would guess he'd be at an amusement park.
Because of this, Ulysses relaxed once they entered the park.
What they didn't anticipate was that just after buying tickets and entering, a booming male voice called out.
"Isn't that Uly? The Mortimer family's son!"
Since his identity had been revealed, everyone online knew exactly who Ulysses was.
Due to Ulysses's massive fame, the shout immediately drew the attention of countless onlookers.
Many were his fans, who instantly became excited. "Where? Where? Did someone say Uly?"
Fan eyes scanned the crowd, quickly zeroing in on Ulysses's location.
"Oh my God, it really is my husband Uly!"
"I see him too!"
"Uly! Uly! Look over here!"
While some fans remained composed, the more enthusiastic ones rushed toward Ulysses.
In mere seconds, fans surrounded him completely.
As more people gathered, Candice was stunned.
These fans had incredible eyesight!
Thankfully, Brandon reacted quickly, pulling her and the children away before they could be engulfed by the crowd too.
Looking at Ulysses disappearing beneath the sea of fans, Candice rubbed her temple. "What do we do now?"
A flicker of satisfaction crossed Brandon's eyes, gone almost before it appeared.
He reassured Candice, "Security will handle crowd control, but Ulysses probably can't join us today. I'll have Knox and the security team help disperse the crowd. Let's move away—your face has been in the news recently. We don't want you recognized too."
Candice's heart dropped at his words. Looking around, she noticed several young women already eyeing her suspiciously.
Brandon's prediction seemed to be coming true.
Just as that thought formed, Brandon pulled her head against his chest.
"I'll get you out of here," he murmured. "Don't worry."
He took Yasmin's hand and told Elijah, "Hold your sister's hand and stay close to Dad."
Elijah nodded obediently. "Okay!"
Brandon led them away from the scene.
After walking for several minutes, far from the fan frenzy, Brandon released Candice.
She looked back anxiously. In the distance, more and more people were still gathering around Ulysses.
Absolutely insane!
Candice patted her chest, sighing with relief. They had escaped just in time—any slower and they would have been swallowed by the fans too.
"Looks like Ulysses won't be getting away anytime soon," she said.
"Indeed."
Brandon nodded, then asked, "Shall we enjoy the park on our own today?"
Candice didn't refuse. "At this point, we don't have much choice."
Ulysses was trapped by fans, and the news would spread online soon. If he didn't leave, more and more fans would flock to the park.
Brandon, pleased with her agreement, allowed a subtle smile to curve his lips. "Let's go then. We can start having fun now!"
The attractions they visited were mostly chosen by the kids.
Wild adventures, roller coasters, canyon rafting, carousel rides...
Many were thrilling and fun, followed by the children's favorite—the Candy Kingdom with its vast array of sweet treats.
Since this was a special outing, Candice didn't restrict the little ones much, letting them choose whatever treats they wanted.
Perhaps because it was their first time out with both parents, Elijah and Yasmin were especially animated.
Candice was delighted too. She had worried Brandon might seem out of place in such a playful environment, that he might feel uncomfortable.
But that wasn't the case at all. He accompanied the children on every attraction, fully immersed in the experience, providing them with emotional engagement.
Candice had to admit that when it came to the children, Brandon truly was a competent father.
After about two hours of fun, Candice received a call from Ulysses asking where they were.
Instead of answering, she asked, "Did you escape from your fans?"
At the mention, Ulysses sighed heavily. "I can't believe it. Even with my disguise, how did they recognize me? They kept asking for autographs and photos—my hand nearly fell off from signing. I barely managed to get away, but I can't come in now. You won't believe it, but my visit to the amusement park is trending online!"
Even through the phone, Candice could feel Ulysses's exasperation. She chuckled, "You've had it rough. Don't bother coming in, just head back home. We're doing fine on our own."
Ulysses wouldn't hear of it. "How could I? Caspian asked me to keep an eye on you."
Candice laughed. "There are tons of people here and plenty of attractions. What could happen? Caspian's being overprotective."
Ulysses hesitated, then conceded she had a point.
Everyone was having fun, the place was crowded, and Brandon couldn't exactly do anything to Candice in public.
Most importantly, he couldn't get in even if he tried.
Reluctantly, Ulysses agreed, though he wasn't going home. "Enjoy yourselves. I'll wait at a coffee shop outside. Let me know when you're done, and I'll have the driver pick you up."
That way, he wouldn't be breaking Caspian's trust.
"Sounds good!" Candice readily agreed.
