The Day Her Broken Heart Became Whole

Rolling his wheelchair towards her, Jordan’s smile only seemed to brighten. “Honey.”

Morgan shifted and closed her eyes but opened them again at the smell of burning sandalwood. Her lip quivered, and she looked the opposite way.

Sterling rolled his wheelchair towards her, but he was scowling at Jordan. “I want a fucking do-over! Look at the way the light is glistening on your face! You look like a damn angel, Jordan, and I’m tired of this shit! You had the nerve to roll out like a sexy Professor Xavier. You look radiant, like a damn Abercrombie model. Do you know how hard it is for a regular man to look like an Abercrombie model?! Now she probably thinks I look like shit! I want a do-over! I want to come out first!” His anger absolved when he glanced at her. He linked to Jordan, *“Oh my God.”*

“I know.”

She’d lost so much weight. Her hair was no longer bouncy and full, but looked stringy and brittle. Her eyes were so tear stained that the surrounding rings were almost permanent. She wasn’t their bright and bubbly mate. They could hardly recognize her.

“Little Red,” he said, and she flinched.

She shut her eyes again. “You’re not real. God, please don’t hurt me like this. I’m trying so hard, but this… this will break me,” she whispered.

Using as much strength as they could muster, Jordan and Sterling stood and clasped their arms around her.

“Breathe, Ms. Pierce.”

“Little Red. We’re really here.”

“You left me,” she murmured.

Sterling placed his head on top of hers. “Only because we didn’t have a choice. You know we’d never leave you unless we had to.”

She inhaled sharply. “I missed you.”

“We missed you too.” Jordan said. “We would have come to get you, but we needed time to finish.” Sitting back in their wheelchairs, they smirked at the confusion on her face.

“Finish what?”

“Our house,” he replied, grinning.

“I-I don’t understand.”

Sterling laughed. “I told you she would react like that. It’s simple. We love you, and we’re too selfish to choose who gets to wake up to you every day. So we built this house. That way, we both get to see you, and I also don’t have to see Jordan’s geriatrics next to my combat boots.”

Jordan glared at him. “You’re so immature.”

“I know you are, but what am I?”

“You’re immature and now stupid! I literally called you what you are, dumbass.”

“You could have said that in private! You didn’t have to embarrass me like that in front of Morgan. Move out of the light so I can properly insult you back. You look too beautiful right now for me to tell you to fuck off.”

Watching Jordan and Sterling quarrel, for the first time in a while, Morgan let out a cheerful laugh. One that reached her eyes and brightened them just a little. Exhausted from the strain but needing to feel her lips, Sterling stood and pulled her in his arms.

“I love you.” He murmured, kissing her deeply.

“I love you.”

Jordan’s firm hands whipped her around. Hands in her hair, he pulled her close. “I love you,” he said, kissing her just as passionately.

“I love you.”

“We also have something that belongs to you,” he said as they sat back in their chairs. He pulled out a locket resembling the one she’d destroyed.

“Who—”

“Rachel. She told us what happened. Do we need to buy a lot of these, Ms. Pierce? Are you going to destroy them every time you get mad at us?” She took the locket from him and placed it around her neck. Running her fingers over it, she exhaled.

Sterling pulled her onto his lap. “Now, how about we go home? Jordan, we don’t want any guests over right now. Why don’t you head to your retirement home and visit a little later?” Jordan exhaled sharply but remained silent as the three made their way over to Sterling’s side of their new house.

*Late July*

Jordan and Sterling sat on the couch on Jordan’s side of their home. “Why are you always over here?” Jordan asked.

Sterling whined, “Because somehow you still have the better stuff.” He pointed to a large plant that sat on the floor. “Like what the hell is that? It makes me feel like a ray of sunshine. I want a sunshine plant on my side.”

“You’re annoying as hell.”

“Morgan likes it.”

“That’s because she doesn’t know you wore bell-bottoms and an ascot for a year because you’d convinced yourself that you were adopted, and Fred from *Scooby-Doo* was your real father.”

“I told you not to bring that shit up!” he shouted and bit deeply into Jordan’s arm.

“Did you just bite me?!”

He smiled, but it dropped as the pain from Jordan’s arm set into his. “Fucking hell!”

“Dumbass,” Jordan said, laughing. Grabbing him around the neck, he rubbed a noogie in his head. “One day you’ll outsmart me, but today is not the day.”

Sterling laughed. “Okay, okay, I deserved that one.” The smell of apples wafted into their noses, and they turned and saw their mate. Their green eyes glistened, looking her over. Her weight was back, her hair was bouncy once again, and her eyes were lively with laughter.

“You two out here behaving yourselves?” she asked, just as happy to see them.

*“I love her,”* Sterling linked to Jordan.

*“I know, me too. Ready?”*

*“Absolutely.”*

They smiled and pulled her down between them on the couch. Morgan gasped as Sterling yanked her to him and kissed her hard on the lips. He murmured against her mouth, “Do you love us?” She nodded.

Jordan grabbed her and clashed their lips together. He clasped her face and looked deeply into her eyes. “We love you too, Mrs. Wolf,” he said.

“What did you just say?”

Taking her hand, he kissed it, then slipped an engagement ring with an enormous diamond on her ring finger.

Sterling grabbed her hand and placed an engagement ring with an equally large ruby on top. “He said we love you too, Mrs. Wolf.”

Morgan stared at the two interlocked rings.

“Honey, we know you deserve a proposal in front of your family and friends, but we’ve waited so long, we don’t want to wait to ask you anymore.”

“Yeah, we even figured out how to marry you without you getting arrested!” Sterling said excitedly, making her laugh. “That is, of course, if you want to marry us.”

Then, in sync, two twin wolves asked their Luna, “Morgan Renee Pierce, will you marry us?”

Morgan could hardly contain her emotions. Her eyes were stained with tears. Nodding feverishly, she shouted, “Abso-fucking-loutely, and thank you for proposing in private because I would have been standing there looking dumb as hell!” Laughing, they kissed her cheeks, and she placed her hands on each of theirs, hearing them growl low in content.

Jordan looked at his watch. “Sterling, it’s four o'clock.”

“Oh really? Hey, Little Red, we’re officially cleared to do strenuous activity.”

Jordan kissed her ear, making her shudder. “We’ve really missed you. Can we show you how much?” he whispered.

Looking from one to the other, she saw their eyes shift to yellow. She stood. “Well, it’s two of you and I have three… actually six if you really want to show me how much you’ve missed me.” Both of their faces were lined with confusion, and it grew when she smirked. Bending down, she kissed Sterling hard on the lips, and then turned and kissed Jordan just as hard. Inches from his face, she closed her eyes. When she opened them, they burned blue. “You’re the smartest man I know. Figure it out and then you two meet me in the bedroom.” They watched her walk away, and then they looked at one another.

“I don’t get it, do you? It’s two of us, and one Little Red, so where does the six come from?”

Jordan sat in thought for a moment, and then his face went red. Turning to Sterling, he tapped his own mouth, groin, behind, chest, and raised his hands.

“Oh my stars. Our future wife is a filthy, filthy girl,” Sterling said.

“Mhm.”

Pulling Jordan up, Sterling shook his fist. “Well, don’t just sit there agreeing. Grab your oxygen tank and come on!” he yelled, and they sprinted to the bedroom.
