Chapter 59 Chapter 60
Chapter 59 Chapter 60
The moment Nielsen was out of sight, Chad immediately glared at Spark, who threw his hands in the air, asking Chad not to go closer to him.
"Shadow... I have to warn you! It's a crime to use a fist on someone. Most importantly, you are in my office. I advise you not to come closer!" Spark spoke shamelessly as if the latter would listen to him.
Chad, however, was never backing out, and that made them move around in circles in the office like toddlers. No wonder Nielsen called them love birds.
"Shadow, stop chasing after me!" Spark said after several turns and runs. He was by now panting heavily.
"You want me to stop chasing you? Fucking Asshole! Why don't you stop running first? I came here to give you a good beating. Ha! I've tolerated you for a very long time." Chad spat as he kept on chasing after him.
He was really bent on teaching Spark a good lesson.
Finally, Spark stopped running and Chad threw the first punch when he got hold of him.
Spark had to fall into his seat for support. But not long before Chad cussed him, "Fucking Asshole!"
And held him by the collar with one hand and dragged him through the company, under the watching eyes of the employees, to his car.
"Chad! Fucking let go of me, damn it!" Spark exclaimed but Chad ignored him as he continued to drag him like a father pulling his disobedient child.
The employees were shocked and wondered what was happening with the two of them. Some even giggled that they looked cute.
After throwing Spark into the car, Chad took the wheel and started driving out of the company. At top speed, Spark had to hold on to the car handle to prevent himself from falling out of the car by mistake.
"So you want to leave your little pumpkin in another man's arms?" Spark teased. With the speed Chad was driving, Spark was afraid an accident might occur, so he decided to divert his attention.
"Shut up!" Chad responded harshly. He didn't mind about anything Spark might say, but to say that another man would enjoy his little stray cat in their miserable arms angered Chad more to speed up the more. "I will make sure to kill such an asshole before taking my last breath!" He spat.
"Look I have never had interest in that brat woman of yours, so spare my life. I won't even choose her in my dreams!" Spark remarked, trying to get Chad to slow down but Spark has bitten the tongue of the devil and must enjoy its dark blood.
Chad smirks devilishly and speeds up even more to the horror of Spark.
Chad had to pull over when he realized the discomfort on Spark's face.
Spark forced himself out of the car. He had to throw up immediately when the car stopped. Chad smiled at the sight of Spark, who looked sick because of the high speed he was driving, but then his face turned gloomy as he stared at his friend for minutes.
His uncle had said Spark sobbed throughout the night, and that could only mean one thing... "Because Charlie is dead."
Spark was only putting on a facade smile and a jovial attitude to cover up his tears and sadness.
Charlie's death was affecting all of them but was affecting Spark more than any of them.
Maybe because of Marlie's presence, Chad hasn't had the chance to mourn Charlie.
That was why he had brought Spark far from others ' eyes. There, they can both mourn the wonderful woman Charlie was.
Chad might have never loved Charlie as a woman, but he still considered her a good friend and cared for her. After all, they dated for several years and even got married in the end.
Chad did everything for her, except that he couldn't give her his heart. He would have if only Marlie hadn't occupied his whole heart.
Charlie was indeed the best of all humans they've met, including Marlie and Chad, who can't even deny that fact. Her death hit them all differently.
But Charlie's death hit Spark more than any of them. If anyone loved her more than their life, it would be Spark. So knowing that she's no more shatters Spark's heart.
Chad walked to Spark and squatted beside him. He used his hand to pat Spark's back like a baby.
"There... there... You can let it all out!" He comforted.
When Spark registered the meaning of Chad's action, looking at the sad expression on Chad's face, he became annoyed and got up from the ground.
Chad tried holding him to console him, but Spark angrily kicked his hands away.
Chad was not backing out; he tried again, and that gained him a punch from Spark. Not once but twice, he punched Chad.
Chad was in for more knowing the miserable state of his brother. He himself was broken when he heard Marlie was the one who died. And when he found out that it was Charlie who died, he, though sad, was mad that Spark was keeping everything within him.
It would be better if he could make Spark let out all his emotions and be free.
Chad smiled throughout the punches, even when his lips were bleeding. He wasn't going to stop Spark from punching him.
Spark had to stop when he noticed Chad was bleeding. But he threw his hands in the air, furious and frustrated at the same time. He was trying to be strong. Why did Chad have to remind him of the pain again? He tried hard not to let the tears gathered in his eyes fall.
Chad brought out some beers from the car to drown their sorrows.
Spark had squatted again but now in sadness, covering it up with anger.
"Beer...?"
Chad asked, stretching his hands and handing Spark a beer.
Spark took the beer forcefully from Chad's hands and opened it. Without waiting any longer, he gulped down the beer as if he were drinking it like water.
"I also miss her, you know..." Chad spoke after he also opened his drink and took a sip.
Spark scoffed as Chad continued. "She was the purest human being I had ever seen. Calm, peaceful, and kind. And don't forget how innocent she was." Chad paused and took a sip again before continuing...
"You know, there were many occasions in which I wanted to stop loving Marlie and just fall in love with her. However, that was easier said than done.
I won't lie to you, I liked Charlie, her smile, her understanding, her faithfulness, and her pure heart." Chad continued to speak until he heard occasional sniffs from beside him.
When he turned to his left side, he saw Spark's eyes turn red as tears welled up in them. The tears will fall if he just blinks his eyes
The sight hurt Chad as he saw his corky brother in such a condition. Charlie's death was tearing their hearts into shreds as they both cared for her..
