"Excuse me, ma'am, do you need any assistance?" The receptionist, one of the few employees brave enough to approach Marlie, confidently voiced her offer amidst the awe-struck onlookers.
The remaining employees hesitated to approach Marlie, fully aware of her true status in Chad's life.
Audrey was akin to a bloodthirsty demon, while Angelina offered no solace. As for the CEO, while he occasionally displayed warmth, his typically stern demeanor scared them.
"Yes," Marlie replied, instantly brightening the receptionist's face. Initially, assuming Marlie to be moody and demanding like Angelina, the receptionist was proven wrong. Observing Marlie's warm nature, the other employees mirrored her genuine hospitality.
When Marlie requested someone to give her a tour of the company, they all eagerly scrambled to take on that responsibility, their smiles reflecting their joy.
Marlie also found pleasure in their reactions. As one of the employees complimented Marlie, the others wholeheartedly agreed, offering testimonies of her kindness. "Unlike that witch," one employee spitefully commented about Angelina, and the rest chimed in unison.
Marlie felt a sense of contentment, solidifying her belief that Angelina was worse than she had previously perceived. She momentarily overlooked the fact that Angelina had strangled her sister, Charlie, to death in her dream, envisioning the mysterious woman as Angelina herself.
Graciously, Marlie selected one of the employees to accompany her on the company tour. Finally, the tour concluded, and on her way back, Marlie encountered David, who guided her back to Chad's office.
David opened the office door for Marlie to enter. Chad looked up and couldn't help but be stunned as Marlie walked into the office. For such a long time, this was the first time he had properly looked at her. He had always seen her as Charlie, but not anymore.
A mixture of joy and desire contorted his expression, resulting in a smile creeping onto his lips. Marlie swiftly took her seat without being prompted. While Chad continued to gaze at her, his eyes lighting up and the urge to rush to her and devour her, increasing in his body, he had to control his emotions.
Looking at her now clearly indicated her discerning nature. But that wasn't the attire for the job. Wasn't she overly dressed?
David glanced at his boss's face and contemplated what was supposed to occur, thought about excusing himself. However, to his horror, Chad halted him. "I need you to stay."
Yes, he needed him to stay. David's presence was the only thing preventing him from pouncing on the woman in front of him and claiming her right there and then. If David leaves, Chad is so sure he won't be able to control his urges. He needed to take it easy.
David looked at him in shock, his mind racing with the thought of Chad and Marlie being intimate in his presence. Why on earth would his boss want him to witness such an intimate moment with his wife?
"Um...sir...I don't think I should be here," David mumbled, shattered by the situation. It was incredibly cruel of his boss to subject him to this. But who knows his thoughts, except Marlie?
Chad glared at him, unable to comprehend why David would want to excuse himself. After all, Chad had explicitly requested his presence even before fetching Marlie.
"Have mercy on the poor guy, Chad. He's already trembling," Marlie interjected, aware of David's thoughts. She knew all too well what her words had done to him. He had been present when she uttered those provocative statements, and his apprehension was evident to Marlie.
However, Chad remained oblivious to what was happening and persisted, "He is my assistant and should be by my side at all times no matter what."
David timidly requested, his voice trailing off,
"Excuse me, sir, perhaps I could come back later?"
"I think my presence will make the situation uncomfortable for the two of you?" David explains, attempting to spare himself from Chad's presence. But Chad also needed him there.
"I decide that you will remain here until the very end," Chad declared, causing David to appear on the verge of tears. Unaware of the true situation, Chad glanced at Marlie, scrutinizing her from head to toe. He clenched his jaws and fisted his fingers into a ball to control himself more.
"Why do you bother wearing all of this when you know I will ask you to remove it?"
Poor David, the horror evident on his face.
"Sir..." David attempted to plead, but for what reason? It was not as if he had chosen that dress for Marlie, nor had he forced Marlie to wear it.
"Be quiet and stay where you are!" Chad misinterpreted David's words, believing that David was defending Marlie. Marlie was coming to work as a secretary. Why would she wear such an extravagant dress to work? Marlie was undoubtedly dressed too formally for the position.
"I am certain you would not be able to remove that dress if I asked you to," Chad thoughtlessly continued, unaware that his words were tormenting David. He was even tormenting himself after thinking about the words he uttered.
"I purchased a more appropriate dress for the occasion for you to change into!" Chad told Marlie.
Upon inspecting herself, Marlie saw that it was the dress she had wanted to wear, so why would she be inclined to change it? As she sat there, Chad grew increasingly frustrated with her behavior. He did not have the whole day to attend to her. Looking at her apathetic expression and David's visibly frustrated appearance, Chad became enraged.
Slamming his hand on his desk, he rose in anger and threatened, "If you dare disobey me, I will not hesitate to strip off those clothes you are wearing!"
David's eyes popped in shock while Marlie chuckled at his statement. Was she going to allow him to do that? Absolutely not. His threats were nothing but empty. She sat there, unaffected by Chad's words and glaring face. As for David, he turned his back on them, still shaking
The last thing Marlie had known about Chad was that he fulfilled his threats. As she still sat there, Chad took it as a challenge that he wouldn't be about to fulfill his threat.
With Marlie still disobeying, Chad ordered David to pick the clothes in the bag for him, and David reluctantly did as instructed.
"Alright, I will strip those clothes off you myself!!!"
Marlie sat there irked by Chad's audacity to force her into something but never expected him to hold her up by the wrist and swirl her for her back to face him. That was totally wrong because he was asking for more than he could control.
Chad instinctively drew Marlie closer as she struggled in his grasp, inadvertently sending a different message to David. He had often witnessed uncomfortable encounters between Chad and Angelina, but what he was observing now was on another level. However, David knew better than to pry into his boss's personal affairs.
Without uttering a word, he hastily exited the room, finally taking a breath of relief.
Despite Marlie's resistance, Chad positioned his hands behind her, ready to unfasten the zipper of her dress, securely holding her between his legs in such an intimate proximity.
