Chapter 54 Chapter 55

Chapter 54 Chapter 55

Almost everyone had seen the news, each interpreting it with their own thoughts and emotions. Except for the trio, who were the main culprits.

"I'm impressed!"
Mark remarked, passing a smile at Marlie, who reciprocated it the same way.

Spark didn't want to say anything regarding that, though he was also stunned at Marlie's act. 'No wonder Shadow didn't see through her.' Spark thought.

"So tell me, brat, what's next on your agenda?" Spark asked after a while.

"I'm not going to tell you anything!"Marlie retorted. She hadn't vented her anger on him yet. But that doesn't mean she has forgotten. No way!

"You couldn't even hide your identity well, how can you use that tiny brain of yours to plan anything better?" Spark taunted.

"Hey, you! I am not my sister, who was just a weakling, Jerk. Even her mother-in-law is afraid of me now!"
Marlie responded proudly.

"What do you mean?" Mark was asked, perplexed by her confident declaration.

"I simply threatened her," Marlie revealed.
With a shrug.

"What? What evidence do you have in your possession against her that could make the old hag afraid for you?" Spark asked, curious to know what Marlie could hold that could make Silvia bow to her.

"Why do you think I will tell you? Besides, I have tiny brains, and now I have forgotten what the evidence is about!" Marlie said and then stomped out of the mall, leaving Spark annoyed at her behavior, and Mark following her with his signature smile.

Mark found their bickering amusing, and he was enjoying it so much.

BARISTANA'S OFFICE

Chad's thoughts were circulating when he reached his office after they realized the stock prices were shooting up again all of a sudden.

It was as if the announcement of his so-called child had been the blessing he needed

Chad couldn't stop watching Marlie's interview on his iPad. He paused and zoomed in on the picture so that he could have a better look at the beautiful woman in the video.

He kept smiling happily at her behavior until Angelina interrupted his happy moment with her angry voice.

"Is it true she is pregnant?" Angelina furiously inquired the moment she entered his office without any pleasantries.

"Why would she lie?" Chad answered her straightforwardly with furrowed brows, and when she tried going deep into the whole pregnancy issue, Chad warned her sternly...

"You will never talk about that again. Do you get me? Next time, let the secretary inform me of your arrival before you enter my office. Now get out!" Chad said calmly, yet anyone could hear that coldness in his voice.

Angelina reluctantly barged out of Chad's office in fury with no choice. She intended to direct her fury at Chad's secretary since she didn't spot her at her desk when she went there.

"Where is Carolina?" Angelina inquired.

"Um... Ma'am, she has been transferred to another department," the HR officer responded.

It was apparent that Angelina had a friendly or professional connection with Chad, let alone Audrey. With this understanding, everyone treated her with the utmost respect despite their dislike for her authoritative demeanor.

And with a friend like Audrey, nothing kind can come out of Angelina. Indeed, birds of the same feather flock together.

Angelina found the reply from HR to be confusing. Just the day before, Carolina was stationed at the secretary's desk. But she had been transferred today?

"Who made these sudden and absurd changes?!" She yelled at the HR, who waited patiently for her to finish her question so he could go to Chad's office.

He didn't want to risk losing his job by offending Angelina. However, he had no clue about what was going through his Boss's mind to prompt such a sudden decision.

Even if he dared to ask, there was no guarantee that his boss would tell him unless he wanted to lose his job. Challenging Chad was equivalent to signing one's resignation letter.

Even Angelina didn't know how much control he had over the decision-making process, as he only followed instructions.

"Ma'am, I believe you should inquire with the Boss," the HR suggested before excusing himself to Chad's office.

Angelina trailed behind him, making her way toward Chad's office again. She was desperate to vent her anger on someone.

The moment she stepped into the room again, she questioned...
"Why did you transfer Carolina to a different department?"

Her words caught the attention of the HR and David, but Chad paid no mind and continued giving instructions to David. It was as if she were a ghost to him.

"And instruct her to come to my office once she arrives," Chad finished instructing David, who left the room immediately to comply with his boss's orders.

Ignoring Angelina's queries, Chad asked HR to make the necessary arrangements,
"And increase Carolina's salary," he instructed.

To compensate for the sudden change in position, Carolina deserved a bonus for sure. It was the best course of action.

Chad valued his employees and made sure they performed their duties diligently as well as gave them the proper cause of punishment and reward.

As HR left the room, Chad finally had the chance to inform Angelina that a new secretary would be joining today to replace Carolina.

"I hired a new secretary." He said curtly.

"What was the reason behind this sudden change, and why was it executed overnight? Who could it be?"
As Angelina inquired, she was shocked to hear Chad say,

"It's Charlie."

Angelina was taken aback by Chad's announcement. Was he bringing Charlie into the company? No Fucking Way! Absolutely Not!!

"Why would you do something like that?!" Angelina shouted angrily at Chad.

"That's my decision to make, not yours!" Chad replied coldly and chose to ignore her.

After being ignored for a while, Angelina left, feeling discontent. She assured herself, heading towards the ground floor...
"I will make that woman regret accepting the job offer from this company!"

Approaching the entrance, Marlie was warmly greeted by the security guards as they'd all seen her on the news recently.

They were completely captivated by the sight of this stunningly beautiful woman entering the company.

And it wasn't just the security guards, but all the employees couldn't help but stare at Marlie in awe.

Her beautiful, high-kneed, fitted skirt hugged her curves tightly, making everyone see her sexy curves.

Her white short-sleeved blouse complemented her light green skirt. Her long curly blonde hair was dyed black and left open, making it cascaded down to her waist.

Her black high heels were top-notch, making her look more like a CEO instead of an employee.

With each step she took, her long and slender legs showed perfectly for anyone interested in staring at her.

Whispers filled the air as the employees wondered about her identity.

"Isn't that the boss's wife?" One employee asked.

"OMG, she is so pretty!" Another jumped in.

"Is she a model?" Another one asked.

"No, I think she's an actress!" Someone chipped in.

Many such murmurs of adoration could be heard from the employees.

Walking through the company, Marlie just kept sharing a smile with anyone she saw.

David, stood at the entrance, ready to guide her. Unaware of the person his boss had asked him to escort her from the ground floor to his office at first.

He politely informed Marlie that she had to follow him to Chad's office.

Marlie paused and looked at the unfamiliar face before her, her expression questioning who this young man standing in front of her was.

As if he could read her mind, David spoke... "I am the boss's assistant. My name is David," he introduced himself, motioning with his hand to show Marlie the way afterward.

However, before they could proceed further, Angelina arrived at the reception.

Her eyes became fiery the moment she spotted Marlie. Filled with anger, she confronted Marlie, asking what she thought she was doing there without thinking twice.

Marlie was surprised at first but quickly composed herself and simply smiled in response, undeterred by Angelina's attempts to provoke her.

Her strong presence infuriated Angelina, leaving the other employees curious about what was going to happen between Marlie and the intensity of Angelina's reaction.

"Are you deaf? I asked what you're doing here, you witch!" Angelina continued, her anger unabated.

In return, Marlie folded her arms, a smirk forming at the corner of her lips. Was Angelina trying to air her dirty laundry in public? "Why should I answer you?" Marlie provocatively questioned back.

"Get out of this place!" Angelina shouted, unable to contain her rage. Her usual self-prestige was nowhere to be seen.

But Marlie remained calm, and as Angelina fumed, David urged Marlie to follow him to Chad's office.

No matter how she ranted, Angelina could never dare to go against Chad's orders.

"You heard him. I need to go meet the Boss. So get the fuck out of my way, bitch!"Marlie retaliated with a sneer.

She walked past Angelina, who couldn't help but make a snide remark, "Stop acting so high up, you're just a secretary!"

Marlie chuckled at the comment, turning to face Angelina, she said with a raised brow... "Then why do you tremble at the sight of a mere secretary?"

In front of the employees, Angelina seethed with fury, while they observed gleefully. Is the esteemed Angelina truly so afraid of a mere secretary? Wasn't that secretary the boss's wife?

But isn't the boss's wife overly dressed for a secretary position?

Yeah, sure, even David glanced at Marlie. He thought she was there as one of the board Directors.

"Stop behaving like a parasite and leave this company now!" Angelina berated Marlie.

"A parasite, you say?" Marlie scoffed, maintaining her composed demeanor. " First of all, you have no say in this company. Don't forget, your father's company is somewhere out there.

Which one of us is truly the parasite?"
She taunted Angelina, leaning in closer. With a devilish smirk, she looked at Angelina's face. Marlie gestured between herself and Angelina, describing her words.

And also, who is the parasite here? The wife or the desperate woman!?" Marlie taunted.
