Chapter 7
Indeed, the dislike for Mia had been long festering.
"She is utterly disgusting, bossing us around like a princess every day. It's bad enough that her constant lateness costs us points."
"Always going on about her brother, as if she's got a brother complex, telling us how great he is. I just asked if I could meet him, and she called me a slut, accusing me of trying to catch his attention."
"You'd think she had a crush on her own brother!"
"The worst part is she plagiarized our work and denied it, even stealing our final drafts."
"I'm definitely going to expose her for this! Though, I feel the impact might not be strong enough yet."
The other party sent several speechless emojis.
I quickly gathered some photos and videos along with account information and sent them to her.
Upon receiving them, she was shocked.
"Oh my! Who knew she was really like this?"
The rest didn't require my intervention.
As expected, over the weekend, Jacob said he was working overtime, but the tracker I installed in his car showed he was at A University, where Mia was studying.
I replied over the phone, "Drive safely, and if you're too busy, just come back tomorrow."
Then, I disguised myself and slipped into the university.
I arrived just as Mia was receiving an award.
Jacob was in the audience, applauding.
During her acceptance speech, Mia said, "I owe all my success to my brother, who has greatly inspired and helped me with my creativity. Thank you, my dearest brother."
As soon as she finished, her roommates stormed the stage.
They threw evidence in her face.
"Shameless, accepting an award for work you stole? Oh, I forgot, it was with your brother's help."
Speaking, Cheng Xingxing and other roommates who disliked Mia tossed a heap of photos from the stage.
"Look everyone! This is who Mia really is behind her facade, sweet and cozy with her own brother. Isn't this incestuous? I heard your brother is married? If you can plagiarize, seducing your brother isn't far off!"
Photos fluttered to the ground, showing Mia and Jacob in intimate poses, even kissing. There were also screenshots from Jacob's book, which I had manipulated.
Because these posts on the book platform were trending.
Some sharp-eyed people recognized them.
"Isn't this from that book platform, Aixi? Oh god, it means 'Love Mia'? That's disgusting!"
"That author said he's in love with his sister? Are they insane?"
"Mia seems so proper on the surface, but she's like this with her brother?"
The crowd buzzed with gossip, and Mia was thrown off balance, grabbing and tearing up the photos.
"That's not it, how do you have these photos?"
"It's not what you think! My brother and I aren't blood-related!"
She shook her head frantically, desperately trying to explain, looking for support from the audience, only to find that Jacob had already left.
Just as I thought, Jacob cared a lot about his reputation, especially since he was busy with a department head election.
"Brother!"
Mia stood helplessly on the stage, her face gradually darkening.
The scandal blew up, and Mia was expelled from the school for misconduct and plagiarism.
Jacob didn't come home that night.
My phone was full of calls from both of them; they probably knew I was behind the account.
The next day at work.
I saw two familiar figures in my office.
