Chapter 42 The confession
CHAPTER FORTY –Chase you to the ends of the earth
Daphne
I stare at him in confusion. I can’t believe he stalked me here. Randy’s still holding my hand.
“Daph, do you know this man?” he asks. Oh, the poor naïve soul.
I notice Hades tense up when he called me that. Hades cocks his head to the side. “Daph? Really? Who’s this lovely gentleman?”
The arrogance in his voice irritates me. What does he care about Randy or anything I do at this point? The whole reason I left school was to run away from him. Why can’t he get a hint?
“What the fuck are you doing here, Hades?” I ask.
Randy freezes beside me. His hand slowly curls around mine, holding on tighter as if he’s trying to lay claim on me and show off to Hades.
Hade’s sharp eyes did not miss that. His jaws twitch with anger. “I was just worried about you, Daph. You can’t just leave school.”
I nearly combust with fury. “I left school because I didn’t want to see you. I needed a break. Away from you and the entire fucking mess of it. Why’d you follow me here? Wait a second, how’d you even know where to find me?”
Hades swipes his finger across his jaws. “We need to talk,” he starts to say but pauses momentarily and glances at Randy with fire in his eyes. “In private!”
Every inch of my body hates him yet I burn for him. I couldn’t move past the fact that he had kissed my former roommate but for some weird reason, I still yearn for him. It drives me nuts, this feeling, this aggravated sense of pleasure I feel for him.
“You can’t be here, Hades!” I say in a low voice that did not convey any convictions.
Hades walk toward us. “I drove out here in the middle of fucking nowhere just for you.”
He tries to reach out a hand for me but Randy steps in between us just in time to pull me behind him protectively and stop Hades from touching me. “Come on, dude, I think it’s time for you to leave.”
Hades smiles devilishly, his lower lips curling. “I don’t know who you think you are but I suggest you step out of the way.”
My heartbeat accelerates. I recognize that look in Hades’ eyes. I become so worried that he would harm Randy.
“Randy, it’s okay, give me a second. I’ll be right in with you,” I say.
Randy doesn’t want to leave me alone with Hades. “Are you sure? It’s not a big deal, I can just stay here with…”
“It’s fine! I’ll talk to you later,” I say.
Randy bobs his head and leaves, reluctantly. He walks slowly, and keeps turning back to see if I had changed my mind. When he finally entered the motel, I turn to face Hades.
I slam my hands right into his chest. His massive pecs catch the weight of my shove. It doesn’t even move him a bit. “What the fuck is wrong with you? Why are you here?”
“You should know by now, Daph, I will chase you to the ends of the earth if I have to,” Hades says.
His eyes didn’t leave mine. His voice is thick with promise. The air pulsates with tension. He glances me over, his eyes tracing the contours of my body. My insides melt with anticipation, with tension. It takes everything in me not to hop on him now.
“Let me come in so we can talk,” he adds, breaking the tension. I shake my head, regaining my senses.
“No, no, you can’t be here. It’s not right.”
I start to walk away from him but he pursues me. Before I know it, my entire world tilts when he sweeps me off my feet, throws me across his shoulders. I try to fight him.
“Put me down, you fucking maniac!”
Hades smacks me hard on the ass. Two hard thumps on the ass. I freeze in shock and mildly aroused. I can feel my ass redden.
“Shut the fuck up and listen to me!”
I fall silent obediently like a mime.
“Good girl,” he says.
When we reach my door – again how did he know my room? – he requests for my keys. I pull them out of my pockets, handing it over to him. He opens the door and steps in.
He dumps me on the bed before returning to shut the door. I scramble up from the bed. I am both afraid and aroused. My emotions come in twos: I hated him but I wanted to be fucked.
“Now, if you would listen to me. You can’t be in here,” he says.
“Why not? I want to be free of you, Hades. I just want to be free.”
That stops him in his tracks. He looks almost hurt. “Do you really want to be free of me?”
It sounds like am ominous question. I nod. “I can’t do this forever, Hades. We shouldn’t be together.”
“You have no idea what this is…or how long it’s been going on. Do you really think you can be free of me? Or that I can be free of you? I have tried. I can’t get you out of my mind. I can’t live without you. I can’t…” he pauses, noticing that his voice had been rising higher and higher.
He takes a deep breath. “You are the love of my life, Daphne. I have loved you for ages now.”
My heart is shattering. Tears fill up my eyes. I’ve never seen him so vulnerable with me. For once, he does not have his macho energy; he is almost subdued, realer.
“I don’t know who I am without you. I don’t know what to do without you. So, please, do not ask me why I came out here. I will follow you to the end of the world if I have to,” he concludes.
I am in tears by the end of his speech. I reach out a hand to touch his face, bringing it close to mine. I trace his lower lip slowly. It beckons to me.
I can’t help myself. I lurch onto him, joining my lips with his.
