Chapter 92 Trap for Elena
Chapter 92 Trap for Elena
Elena froze, staring blankly at her device screen. Her heart pounded so violently that a sharp pain crept into her chest.
All this time, memories of Grandfather Maximillian had been her only solace amidst the cruelty of her extended family.
Her mother, Eleanor Vance, along with all her cousins and uncles, had never genuinely loved her. They only saw Elena as a source of profit and a pawn to expand their family's financial caste in the jewelry industry.
'Grandfather... why did Grandfather lock that inheritance until I turned thirty?' Elena's thoughts raced, her mind filled with a labyrinth of incredibly complex puzzles.
Elena's simple logic was suddenly forcibly pulled into the past. She remembered how Eleanor, her own biological mother, had always pressured her to maintain her formal marriage status with Morgan Valdez to unite their corporations.
Her mother never cared how shattered Elena's dignity had been over the years, trampled in London.
Now, the puzzle pieces began to make sense; her mother and the entire Vance family had only wanted to use her to cash in Grandfather Maximillian's treasure!
Elena quickly turned toward the studio's back bar counter, checking Elijah's whereabouts.
Fortunately, her contract lover was downstairs with Marcus, checking the studio's backup server electrical system.
Overwhelming anxiety and protective instincts suddenly surged in Elena's chest. Her eyes read the last line of the threatening message again.
'Don't bring your man if you don't want to see him dead.'
'No,' Elena thought with surging confidence.
'I can't involve Elijah in my family's muddy swamp anymore. That man has sacrificed his entire life and personal safety for a year just to be my cyber shield. He's just a poor IT technician; he won't survive facing the madness of the Vance family and Morgan's remaining henchmen!'
With a decision that was desperate yet driven by love and dependence that increasingly locked their fate, Elena grabbed her new maroon wool coat.
She hurried, slipping out through the studio's side door without making a sound, then hailed a yellow taxi that happened to pass by under the thin snowfall, heading toward dock number four in the Queens area.
Exactly three minutes after the taxi carrying Elena moved away, a tall figure in a moss-green plaid flannel shirt stepped up from the downstairs staircase. Elijah.
His heavy footsteps suddenly stopped in the middle of the silent showroom.
His sapphire blue eyes swept sharply toward the now-empty designer work desk, and instantly, the remaining warmth on his marble-hard handsome face vanished without a trace.
A thick, icy-cold murderous aura immediately radiated powerfully, dropping the room's atmosphere to freezing point.
He walked quickly to the desk, picking up Elena's spare device wirelessly connected to the studio's main system.
With just one cyber touch on his encrypted smartwatch, the entire private text message Elena had just read was uncovered under Apex Sovereign's automatic scanning system.
Elijah's firm jaw tensed perfectly until the veins in his neck bulged severely. A very cruel, cold, and deadly predator's grin beautifully etched itself onto his handsome face.
The Vance family and the remaining London parasites were apparently truly tired of seeing the sun rise in Manhattan.
"Dragging Grandfather Maximillian's name to lure my Ángel out of her golden cage?" Elijah hissed, his low, deep baritone voice flowing so stiffly yet laden with the absolute authority of a supreme mastermind.
He pressed his private communicator button, connecting the military satellite channel directly to the steering wheel of Marcus's Rolls-Royce outside the building.
"Marcus," Elijah commanded, his voice as cold as a snowstorm capable of stopping the air supply in anyone's lungs who heard it.
"Lock all entry and exit access to dock number four in Queens this very second. Deploy first-layer tactical perimeter forces. Elena's biological mother, Eleanor Vance, is apparently collaborating with the remaining lawyers of Morgan to set up a cheap trap tonight."
"R-Right away, Young Master! Do you want us to secure Miss Elena immediately before her taxi arrives at the location?" Marcus asked in a panic from the intercom.
"No," Elijah hissed, his sapphire blue eyes dimming completely in a dangerously thick flash of absolute possessive obsession.
"Let my woman get there and see with her own eyes the true face of her mother's hypocrisy. I myself will lead this mass execution right before their faces, without needing to hide my fangs behind this torn flannel shirt any longer if even one of those family trash dares to scratch a single strand of her hair."
Elijah turned off his communication with one rough snap. He walked steadily toward the biometric steel vault in the corner of the room.
The young man no longer took his faded denim jacket, but instead wore a solid black long coat engraved with the main Blackwood clan's silver dragon emblem—ready to bring down anyone who dared to disturb the little paradise he had built in New York.
Meanwhile, the darkness of night at dock number four in Queens felt deeply oppressive. The cold sea waves crashed against the walls of rusty old iron containers.
Inside one of the empty storage warehouses, lit only by a dim incandescent bulb, several people already stood waiting with their most disgusting parasitic smiles.
Eleanor Vance stood there in her expensive velvet coat, arms crossed with thick arrogance.
Beside her, a senior lawyer from London representing the remaining Mayfair assets of Morgan Valdez held a stack of international legal documents.
Bang!
The warehouse's iron door was pushed open roughly from outside. Elena Vance stepped in with ragged breath, her maroon wool coat wet with snowflakes.
Her eyes swept the room and instantly widened perfectly as she caught sight of the middle-aged woman she knew all too well.
"M-Mother? So you sent this message?!" Elena exclaimed, her voice trembling violently between disbelief, jealousy of her disrupted peace, and overflowing anger.
"What is the meaning of all this?! And what does it have to do with Grandfather Maximillian's inheritance?!"
Eleanor Vance chuckled lowly, a cold laugh full of provocation and thick cunning. She stepped forward, staring at her own daughter with a condescending gaze as if Elena were merely a business commodity.
"Of course this is about your grandfather's inheritance, Elena!" Eleanor hissed sharply.
"That foolish Maximillian deliberately locked all of the Vance family's trillions of dollars in funds under your name until you turn thirty, so none of us could touch it! He knew only you had the absolute right to cash it out!"
Elena recoiled, her entire body suddenly stiff as cement paper.
"So... for three years, Mother forced me to stay with Morgan Valdez in London just to wait for that money to be released?!"
"Why are you so naive, Elena?!" Eleanor cut in arrogantly, her face filled with maddening greed.
"Morgan Valdez may be bankrupt in London due to your flannel bastard's cyber attack, but your marriage signature with him on international court papers is the only legal key to melt Grandfather's funds into our extended family's accounts!"
"Sign these inheritance power transfer documents now, or I will ensure your poor lover disappears from New York before sunrise!"
