Chapter 16 (part two)

christan's POV :

Father asked me to get out of the house , i guess whatever he's about to say  he didn't wanted to be heard.

we were sitting on a bench  he looked at me  and gave me a small smile 

" you may not know it son or i might not show it but i do love all of you  so much and i do care" he looked at my eyes for a moment " i suppose you want to know what happened next ? " i nod.

"we had a beautiful life for few years , Fernando manage to hide our tracks and he was very good at it and soon i had you , my first baby boy , and then he also had a baby girl, our business was doing good no one knew about us and we were happy about that , but one day somehow someone recognized us and knew exactly who we were , and the words went to EL Patron "

father looked and continue on " first the boss wanted to kill us but then he had other plans for us , at that time  our company was starting to grow and we became powerful in the  business area  and to spare our lifes, EL Patron wanted a big profit of what the company was getting . At first we said yes because we wanted indeed to spare our lifes and save our families , but Fernando didn't like what was going on he told me that if we let him do this , then we will become his slaves and we will never get rid of him and soon he will pull us to the illegal things again and he didn't accept that , he started fighting  but i was a coward, a pussy, i just stood there and watched and i didn't help him . Fernando knew that the only way to get rid of EL Patron will make his hands dirty again but he sacrificed that and he  was able to kill EL Patron . We had a couple years of peace but little did he know that EL Partron had a wife and she was as savage and as cruel as her husband was , she somehow knew that Fernando was the one who killed her husband and   she decided to seek revenge . while i was hiding like a pussy i watched my friend  and his family , getting slaughtered and i couldn't do shit "

i looked at father and i saw tears leaving his eyes his head down facing the ground and the aspects of defeat was all over his face , I felt sorry for this man who watched the only friend he had taken away  from him.

" and to reassure your safety" he started speaking again " i made the same previous deal with La Patrona , she was now the head of the mafia. A year later i received a letter , it was from Fernando , he sent it a year ago before he died , i guess he knew what was going to happen to him"

" what did he wrote you ?"

" he asked me to take care of his daughter for him, to make sure she was okay, and make sure no one finds out about her , just watch over her from up far. He was my friend , my brother so i couldn't not accept his last request and his last wish, and so i did "

" and where is this girl now ? "

" close enough for me to watch over her and for her not to know anything" what ?

" so......wait " could it be what i'm thinking could she be....no that can't be how ?  But again... " is.....it ...Il........Ilayda ? " he nod 

     OH God it's Ilayda .

      the love of my life , the woman i love.

" so your definition of protecting her was to make her your maid ? "

" son , i couldn't risk  her knowing anything  , i had to keep her under my eyes and at the time it was the only thing i could think about "

" yes , father but she is still in danger , those people who shot the house , what did they want , was it this so called La Patrona ? "

" yes , it was her , it's her way of renewing our deal and telling to watch it and not do the same mistake as Fernando "

" father we can't do that , we can't let them control us "

" son we have to do this , we have no other choice "

" father , you're making the same mistake you did years ago when you hide and let your friend fight alone "

" son i can't risk loosing anyone , understand ?  and i can't risk anyone knowing about Ilayda"

" what will happen if La Patrona knew about Ilayda ?"  i couldn't help but wonder .

" after the death of her husband , La Patrona hated Fernando so much and swore that she will end him and all his family so if she come to know about Ilayda  she would want to kill her "

when my father said those words something hit my heart it was like a sting inside , the idea that someone could harm Ilayda makes me very angry and ready to do anything for her , and that's what i will do i will free our business from this La Patrona and save my baby girl , i want let anyone touch her . let the war begin.

" father , tomorrow we're getting back to the city , enough hiding " i knew my father would protest so i had to convince him " do this for your friend to honor his soul , and do it for your self so that you can be able to live your life again and forgive yourself." as i said those words i went inside of the house , i went upstairs to my room , and Ilayda was already sleeping in the bed ,i held her closer to me and kissed her pink beautiful lips.

"good night love, don't worry , i got you now , i'm going to protect you and give you your life back " with that i drifted to sleep thinking about my next step , while holding Ilayda's sleeping form in my arms.
