Chapter 26

Alex’s POV

this scenery was not what I would have imagined to happen to me or to anyone who was close to me. the moment Mikal told me about what happened I rushed back to the pack house of Dylan while Blaise followed. we seem to have made it in time but I didn’t really think this through. I mean yeah I’m strong but I don’t think two of us can take twenty random wolves. they are rogues and pack members from other packs who have seem to not like the changes in the law that I proposed.

I look at them pull on the members of the pack of dylan as they chain them up and handcuff them. I hide behind a tree as I observe quietly. "you should have stayed at the castle." I whisper to Blaise as he looks at me with his light blue eyes and smiles.

"I can't let you do something like this all alone." he reaches out to hold my hand and our marks begin to glow as I feel my body shiver in satisfaction of our touch. 

knowing that Blaise cant fight since he’s never truly trained himself in this I can't help but feel a slight pain in my chest. 'I might lose him.'

I stare at him, taking in all of his features and breathe out heavily. 'I can't screw up'

I turn to look at what is left of Dylan’s pack as they are surrounded of the enemies while they sit with their hands cuffed. someone pulls out dylan from inside of the circle and they throw him in front of his pack members. 

"today the Moonlight Shadow pack will be no more! we will start by killing off its future successor!" the man screams at the top of his lungs. "I’m sure alpha james won't mind!" he laugh as James struggles to move but is pinned down by two werewolves. they kick him and punch him in the stomach until he is finally unable to move. 

I can hear a faint cry come from the man as he looks at his son and it breaks my heart. I have never had any soft spots for anything but this case is different. 

this man, just a couple of feet away from me was crying as he looked at his son for what seemed to him to be the last time.

'family' is all I have in my head as I look at james and try not to cry myself. The alpha of the Moonlight Shadow pack has always been an inspiration to me and he was the reason to why my father was always able to wait for his rue mate. although he was heartbroken when Kendra suddenly left him he continued to tell himself 'if alpha James can do it so can I'.

I know because so did i. this man had lost his mate to the dark hands of death. he was broken and torn apart but he didn’t commit suicide, instead he faced the world with all he had and fought hard to raise his son into a man.

Dylan was all he had left of his wife, and his only family.

the man who I had admired all of my life was now feet away from me crying like a little boy. broken because the only thing he had left was going to be taken from him. his tears were coming down because he finally broke in spirit.

the reason why he was breaking was because of the rogues and betrayers of the kingdom that stood surrounding him and his pack.

Blaises POV

I look at Alex and I can't help but notice that she is thinking of something deeply. a moment passes and I can't help but notice alpha james scream in pain. my eyes open wide when I see a man hold dylan up as he chokes him.

'he’s going to die' 

I’m about to use my ice power to do something but I’m caught by surprise when the man lets go of dylan and begins to scream.

his arm is currently on fire, he backs away from dylan and suddenly a ring of fire protects the james and his pack members.

I look over to where Alex was standing and I no longer see her. I begin to panic as I look in front of me towards the ring of fire.

Dylans POV

the moment the strange ring of fire appears surrounding me and my pack members I can't help but move away from it towards the center of the circle. something makes me look back.

I don’t know what or why but it's like a pull that brings my attention to whatever is behind me.

when I finally concentrate I see a figure of a girl standing feet away from us. I can't help but smell fear from the assholes who tried to kill me. 

"who the hell is she?" I hear someone say shocked. 

"if I were you id watch my tongue, I don’t think you want to talk to the queen in that tone." I say as I laugh.

theres something in the way that Alex's arm glows red, in the facial structure that she possesses at this certain moment, something about her smile that makes me feel like I have just won the lottery.

its a very weird feeling to have someone so powerful at my side. it makes me feel at ease. 

she slowly walks forward when I see another figure slowly moving towards us from behind her. 

Blaise, he walks slowly and carefully behind Alex observing everyones reaction. I can't help but smile 'he’s protective' is all that comes to mind when I see his arm light up blue.

Alex stops in front of the fire as the guys who tried to kill me move away slowly. 

she sighs looking tired. shes sweaty all over and her scent is stronger due to her sweat. I can smell her scent and I can tell that she is tired. "I leave you for a day and this is what happens." she moves her hair behind her head as the sun shine through it making it look red.

I sigh "what took you so long?"

she chuckles "traffic" is all she says before hell breaks loose.
