Chapter 58 CHAPTER 58
Chapter 58 CHAPTER 58
"Let's not drag this out any longer, Morgana!" Atang shouted in a furious tone.
When she turned around to throw her enchanted soil onto the serpent’s bones, she was shocked to see them moving again, reassembling themselves!
She couldn't allow it to reform through Morgana's power; if it did, her struggle would become twice as hard.
Wasting no time, she flung the soil at the bones, but Morgana unleashed a gust of wind that sent the earth scattering away.
Atang pulled a doll from her side and whispered a spell into it. She attached an item belonging to Morgana that she had in her possession.
She flicked the doll's stomach and looked at Morgana, but it had no effect. The sorceress simply smirked at her. Atang grew livid; instead of being in pain, her enemy seemed amused.
"You cannot defeat me with that kind of magic, Atang. Do not underestimate my power!"
Atang looked back at the bones of Morgana's pet. Slowly, every piece was clicking back into its proper place.
She needed to trick Morgana so she could successfully throw the soil onto the bones.
She tried her sorcery on Morgana once more.
She whispered again while driving a needle into the doll's head.
Atang almost jumped for joy when Morgana groaned, clutching her head.
She stabbed the doll again and stepped back toward the bones, but she froze when Morgana burst into laughter.
"I’m just playing with you, Atang. Don't be so happy; I'm merely entertaining myself," Morgana said with a smile. If Atang didn't know the woman before her, she might have thought that sweet smile was genuine. "You're a fool if you think I'm actually hurting, Atang! A fool!" Morgana laughed loudly.
"Fine, let’s say you’re immune to my magic. The question is, what about your beloved pet?" Because she held the enemy's attention, Morgana didn't notice the wind Atang had released behind her. That small whirlwind swept up the enchanted soil that Morgana’s wind had scattered earlier.
The small vortex of wind and earth swirled around the serpent’s bones!
"This cannot be!" Morgana screamed. she circled her right hand, forming a small whirlwind that grew larger by the second. The massive cyclone moved toward Atang’s smaller one. As Morgana’s wind began to suck in Atang’s, Atang rushed her, throwing a dagger first. Morgana dodged, breaking her concentration and causing her cyclone to dissipate.
Morgana moved her hand again to create a new whirlwind, but this time, she doused it with water. Atang didn't know what her opponent was planning, so she charged again.
Predicting the move, Morgana raised her right hand and flicked it toward Atang. Atang jumped, grabbing a red decorative cloth hanging in the room and hoisting herself up to avoid the strike.
Her opponent was a master of magic; even while the old woman fought her, Morgana kept her whirlwind moving over her pet’s bones. It was too late to stop it—the giant monster was complete. If it had five heads before, it now had fifteen. Ten new ones had been added!
"Nerfito!" Morgana shouted the pet's name. It moved and looked in her direction. Its red eyes were gone, replaced by pitch-black eyes; Atang knew the pet was no longer under her control.
As the giant walked, the castle shook, but that wasn't Morgana's concern. She didn't care if her entire kingdom here was destroyed; she had other places to go.
The giant bowed before Atang. Overjoyed, the old woman climbed down from the cloth.
"My slave..." she said to Nerfito.
Nerfito had been with Morgana since time immemorial; it was more painful for her to kill him than to see him become Atang’s slave. Nerfito was the only one Morgana trusted to help her, but he was gone now. If she felt any mercy at all, it was only for the pet she had kept for thousands of years.
"Nerfito..." she said softly.
"You have no allies left, Morgana, and the most painful part is that your own pet will end your life!" Now, it was her enemy's turn to laugh at her.
Morgana felt no fear. If she felt anything, it was a touch of sadness; even if she killed Atang, she would still have to kill Nerfito because he might turn on her.
Atang stroked the serpent and patted it. "You are my new toy, and your name isn't Nerfito anymore. You are Bagtik, for your scales are hard..."
While Atang talked to the serpent, Morgana moved the black vines that were part of her power.
Atang struck Nerfito hard and screa
med, "Idiot! What are you standing there for! Kill Morgan—"
