Chapter 237 I Won’t Let You Forget Me
ALESSANDRO
The moment Mia’s name appeared on my phone screen, I knew something had happened.
I was already close to Adrian’s mansion.
Before we moved, I had made one thing clear to my men: we were not going there to start a fight.
Not this time.
I knew where I had gone wrong. I knew the damage my actions had caused. I wasn’t walking into that mansion to prove I was stronger than anyone else.
I was going there for Elara. I wanted my woman back, but I didn’t want another war.
“If they don’t shoot first, none of you fire,” I ordered, looking at each of them. “We are not starting this.”
Nobody questioned me. They knew how serious I was.
The drive to Adrian’s mansion felt shorter than it should have. My fingers tightened around the phone in my hand as I stared at the screen.
Elara.
The thought of her leaving.
The thought of her waking up one day and not remembering anything about us.
It was enough to make my blood boil.
When we finally arrived, my men moved with me as we stepped out of the cars. The massive gates of Adrian’s mansion stood in front of us, a wall between me and the only person I cared about.
I didn’t hesitate. We moved forward when Adrian’s voice stopped me.
“Alessandro.”
I looked up and saw him walking toward me. His expression was cold and guarded, like he had been waiting for this exact moment.
Before either of us could say anything else, his men and Costa’s men appeared around us.
Guns. Everywhere.
The air instantly changed. Nobody moved. Nobody spoke. Everyone knew one wrong decision could turn this into a bloodbath.
I looked at Adrian. “I’m not leaving here until I get what I came for.”
His eyes narrowed. “What do you want?”
I almost laughed. He knew. He knew exactly why I was there.
“You know why I’m here,” I said. “And I’m not leaving without it.” His jaw tightened.
“Get the fuck out of my property,” he said.
His voice was calm. Too calm.
The kind of calm that hid anger underneath.
I stared at him for a moment before a small smirk crossed my face. “You know you can’t force me out when I’ve already made up my mind.”
His eyes darkened, but I wasn’t here to fight him. Not today.
“I’m not here for a fight, Adrian,” I said, my voice firm. “But I won’t allow you to erase her memories.” My eyes stayed locked on his. “Let Elara be.”
For a moment, silence filled the space between us. Then—Bang. The sound tore through the air, shattering the silence between us.
Pain exploded through my hand, and my body reacted before my mind could process what happened. I looked down and saw the blood. My fingers shook slightly as I lifted my eyes toward the person standing in front of me.
Costa stood there, the gun still in his hand. Fuck. Something was wrong.
The pain wasn’t the only thing spreading through me. A strange weakness moved through my body, stealing my strength piece by piece. The bullet.
It was poisoned.
My men noticed immediately. Weapons were raised, and anger flashed across their faces, but I lifted my other hand before anyone could move.
“Don’t,” I said, my voice coming out lower than I expected. “No fight today.”
I could feel my body losing control, but I refused to let this turn into a war.
“Alessandro!”
Adrian’s voice reached me, but the ground beneath my feet already felt unsteady. My vision blurred, and before I could fall, his arms caught me.
For a moment, everything became quiet.
I looked at him. Really looked at him.
And despite everything… despite the anger, despite everything that had happened between us, I knew one thing.
Deep down, he was still my brother.
“Don’t let Elara leave the city,” I whispered.
My breathing became heavier as the voices around me started fading away.
Then I heard her voice calling my name“Alessandro!”the one voice I would recognize anywhere.
A hand grabbed mine, warm and shaking, and a desperate whisper followed, “I won’t let you die.” I forced my eyes open and saw Elara looking at me like she was afraid to lose me; the same woman I had hurt, the same woman I had spent so long trying to reach. My eyes burned as I looked at her.
“I’m sorry…” the words barely left my lips as I tried to speak through the pain. “I’m sorry for causing you pain.”
My vision grew darker, and the last thing I felt was her hand holding mine, the last thing I heard was her voice.
