Chapter Twenty-Six-Needle.

Chapter Twenty-Six-Needle.
ARTEMIS'S POINT OF VIEW
The warmth inside me that seems to grow with each second makes my heart race and my stomach tighten, giving me the feeling that I’m about to have a heart attack and puke, not necessarily in that order.
“Fuck me,” He exclaims as if my dark sense of humor is the best thing since sliced bread.
“No can do. Maybe I have someone, and I don’t cheat.” And for some reason, his laughter fades.
“You do?”
“It doesn’t matter. We are talking about you. So, give me her description,” I say, changing the subject, and he sighs in disappointment.
“So, she has long black hair, is tall with long legs, and perfect curves. She’s slim but has the right amount of meat where it counts. If you know what I mean...” He bites his lip, tempting me more than ever to kiss him.
“Perv,” I say dryly, but I can’t help but smile.
“Only if you want me to.” His voice is deeper, huskier, and it does things to my intimate parts.
“Watch out. If I know her, I might just tell her about your small comments.” He shrugs his broad shoulders and smirks.
“I can’t help it.”
“As I said. Perv.”
“Just for you. Anyway, her skin is white, not too white, but that perfect white that contrasts beautifully with her red lipstick. And the most beautiful blue eyes I have ever seen.” Oh, can I kiss him?
This is serious trouble. Why did I have to ask? Now it’s going to be even harder to do my job.
“Her lips are so soft and full, she has the touch of an angel, but God knows that she is the Devil. I don’t know if you believe me, but she wouldn’t let me touch her. That wasn’t fair.” Now I’m sorry. I wish I had let him. Well, too late. Now he would probably want to kill me.
“I asked for a description, not a porn show.”
“Sorry, I let myself get carried away.”
“Well, this may be your lucky night because I might know her. Okay, not so lucky, but still. But first, I have a few questions.” He gasps in surprise, and I chuckle.
“Really? Shoot! Fuck, don’t shoot. Fuck, you know what I mean.” I start laughing so hard that my stomach hurts.
He’s so damn sweet.
“You are really funny. Too bad that I have to kill you.” That, if I ever have the balls.
“Oh, how sweet of you,” he says sarcastically, and I laugh again.
“Yes, indeed. Sweeter than honey mixed with sugar.” I reply in a sweet voice, and we both laugh loudly.
“That you are.”
"So, correct me if I’m wrong. You saw her twice, but you want to be in a relationship with her."
“Yep.” He would change his mind if I took his blindfold off.
"And you describe her as the perfect woman. But what if she’s not? What if it turns out that she's some kind of psychopath? You said it yourself, she is evil.” I wish I could read him, but I can’t take his blindfold off.
“I don’t think she’s perfect. I know she is. And if she’s a psychopath, then it’s even better. We would make a perfect match," he replies with another gorgeous, breathtaking smirk, and I swallow hard.
“How so?”
“Long story.”
“Are you going somewhere?” I ask mockingly, and he laughs.
“We would be really good friends.” He states with a smile, but what he doesn’t know is that we would’ve been more than friends. But if I had doubts that he wouldn’t accept me before, now I’m one thousand percent sure. I mean, I kidnapped the man, intending to kill him.
“Before I tell you who I think she is, what makes her so special?” I shouldn’t ask so many questions because his answers are too perfect, and it makes my damn heart swell and skip beats.
“Well, she is beautiful, confident, and she’s like you. She doesn’t need anyone to tell her she’s perfect. I could see it— the way she walks, the way she acts. She’s evil like me. She makes me feel things I’ve never felt before. I don’t know what they’re called, let alone how to deal with them, but I can’t stop thinking about her. No matter how hard I try, she keeps popping into my head. For example, when I thought you were gonna shoot me, she came into my mind... my rainbow. I know it sounds crazy. Even I think it’s crazy, but that’s how I feel.” Damnnnn, now I really feel special. Why did he have to kill the idiot’s son? Didn’t he know how dangerous that fucker is?
“Why rainbow?” I ask, even though the feeling that I’ll throw up is back, thanks to the thought that I’ll have to kill him.
“Because of the colors. Blue eyes, red lipstick, white skin, black hair… my rainbow.”
“You do know that black and white aren’t actual colors. Right?”
“I do, but that’s not the point, God, you annoy me sometimes.” He tries to be serious, but his full, pink lips curl into a charming little smile.
“Glad to be of some use.” We both laugh, and he shakes his head.
“This is not normal. Anyway, do you know her?”
“Well, by your description, without the cheesy parts, of course, black hair, blue eyes, white skin, tall, red lipstick.”
“Yes.
“She goes to Apolli and drives a bike.”
“Yes…” I can tell that he’s losing patience, and I suppress a laugh.
“I have two pieces of news, one good and one bad. Which one do you want to hear first?”
“The good one.”
“Her name issssss………………………………………..”
“Come on, you’re killing me!”
“Well, I will, but not right now.” His head falls back in surrender, and he sighs heavily.
“Now you’re just torturing me.”
“You wouldn’t want that, believe me. This is... foreplay. And I have to admit that I enjoy every second of it,” I say in a devilish voice and try not to laugh at his exasperated groan.
“You’re evil!”
“I am an assassin, so I can’t be an angel.”
“So, you’re an assassin? Like an assassin, assassin?” he asks, shocked, and I laugh.
“Yes, assassin, assassin.”
“That’s hoooot.” he states and bites his lower lip.
“Hot?” I ask, shocked, not sure if I heard him right.
“I mean, fucking hot! And I bet you look good too. At least your voice is sexy.” I know what he’s trying to do, but I’ll let him be for now.
Sweet-talking his way out… nice try.
“Are you a good assassin? Like, can you kill someone with a little spoon?” he asks in a genuinely curious voice.
“I can kill someone with a needle. Now, can we go on?” I ask, but his mouth is open in shock.
“A needle? Really?”
“Yes. A needle. Really.”
“When the time comes, I want you to kill me with a needle. I don’t want to die from a gunshot. It’s too... cheesy. But a needle...” He trails off in a serious voice, and I start laughing.
He is definitely crazy.
“Okay, I promise. Now let’s continue with your confession. Or you don’t want to know her name?”
“Nooo, I mean yes. You know what I mean.” I can’t help but chuckle, and he smiles.
“So, her name is.......” I keep the suspense until he can’t take it anymore.
“For fuck’s sake, woman. We are not in a competition to wait for the winner’s name.” I laugh again, and he shakes his head in disapproval.
“Artemis.” Well, he doesn’t know it’s me, so no harm done.
“Fuck me dead!”
“Sorry, I’m not into that. Necrophilia is not really my thing. Can’t help you there.” His laughter fills the basement again and warms my heart.
I’m so fucked up it’s not even funny anymore.
“I can’t believe I actually like you.” After the tone of his voice, I'd say he's sincere, but I doubt it since I'm his death.
“Now the bad news,” he says and bites his lip nervously.
“I have to kill you,” I state dryly, and he takes a few seconds before he answers.
“Right now?” I chuckle and physically force myself not to go and kiss him.
“You should’ve been dead hours ago. So, yes, it’s time.” He takes a very big breath and replies in a determined voice.
“Okay. I’m waiting.” I look at him, I look at my gun… him, gun, him, gun... Fuck!
“Well?” I can’t say anything. My heart is in my throat, stopping the words from coming out.
“Why can’t you kill me? You said you’re an assassin.” I raise the gun and point it at his head, but without touching him. My damn hands start shaking again, and the air becomes heavier and heavier.
“Enough talking for now. I have to go. Find a needle or something.” I hope he didn’t hear the panic in my voice.
I get up quickly and rush out of there.
I need a drink.
A bottle.
Maybe that’s the answer.
