Chapter Eighteen-Club night.
Chapter Eighteen-Club night.
ADONIS’S POINT OF VIEW
“Good morning, rainbow.” As usual, I greet the ghost that haunts me before I even open my eyes.
I have it bad.
Today, the club is open, so I plan to go, hoping I’ll see her again. If she’s the owner, there are good chances.
“Good morning, sweety. What do you want to eat?” Mom asks me with a sweet smile as I enter the kitchen.
“Everything you cook is delicious. So, anything.”
“Oh, you’re trying to get on my good side.” My Mom says and turns her cheek, silently demanding that I kiss her.
I sit at the kitchen island, keeping Mom company as she cooks breakfast and enjoying the small talk, but my peaceful morning is interrupted by Camilla’s loud voice.
“How are you, lover boy?” Camilla asks, teasingly, I roll my eyes and Mom giggles.
“Don’t start. I told you that I’m not in love. I saw the girl twice, for God’s sake.” I try to reason with them, but it seems that they are all against me.
“I told him that it’s love at first sight, but he keeps denying it.” Liam suddenly appears out of nowhere to give his unwanted, worthless two cents.
“And what do you know about love at first sight?” Camilla places her hand on her hip and looks at Liam with her eyebrows raised and a hidden smile.
“Well, I know a guy who fell in love with a girl from the second he laid eyes on her. And when she smiled, he knew that she’d be the mother of his children. And now they have a daughter named Maria. Sounds familiar?” He wraps an arm around her waist, pulls her closer, kisses her forehead, and Camilla's hidden smile breaks free.
“I don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. Sorry. But Adonis, love at first sight, is real, and from what I can see, well, you kind of have the symptoms.” Women.
“Yeah, yeah, Liam once told me, ′never contradict Camilla because you won’t win,’ so I’ll take his advice and shut up,” I said, pursing my lips while Mom and Camilla started laughing.
“The boy is smart too,” Camilla says with sass, and I wave dismissively at her comment.
“You’re worse than Liam.”
“So, guys, what are the plans for today?” Blaze’s voice interrupts this outrageous conversation, and I make a note to myself to reward him.
“I have to go meet Matias. Today we get the first shipment. Who wants to join?” I ask as I look at my brothers.
“I can’t. I have to go with Camilla. She has a doctor’s appointment," Liam says with a big smile on his face.
“Why? What’s wrong? Are you sick?” But mom disregards the smile because that’s just how she is. If she hears the word Doctor, it’s death.
“Not really…” Camilla trails off and looks at Liam, silently urging him to tell us what’s going on.
“We wanted to wait until after the appointment, but we think that she is pregnant. At least that’s what the test said.” As soon as Liam finishes the sentence, Mom walks over to Camilla and gives her a bear hug.
“Oh, baby girl, congratulations to both of you.” She walks over to Liam and hugs him too, and we all smile as we see her tearing up. She loves kids and has always been the best mother anyone could hope for.
“Congratulations!” Blaze and I say at the same time, then we hug them as well.
“That means I’m going to be a big sister?” Maria asks suddenly, and I look down to see her next to my leg. She’s always beside me, preferring me over everyone else, and I adore her for it.
“Yes, sweetie, but first we need to go to the doctor to be sure,” Camilla explains to her in a motherly voice, and she starts jumping up and down, squealing. She loses her footing, but she’s caught by Dad, who, I don’t know how much he heard, but he has a huge smile on his face.
“Come here and hug your old dad. And Camilla, make sure it’s a boy this time! As for the rest of you, put your dicks to some use. I need more grandchildren.” Dad scolds the rest of us as he covers Maria's small ears, and we all roll our eyes.
“Yes, Cornelius, I’ll make sure it’s a boy. And if it’s a girl, I’ll just tell the doctor to shove her back inside.” Everyone starts laughing, except for Maria who is yelling that she’s going to be a big sister.
This is gonna be a great day.
“So, is someone coming with me or not?” I ask, looking at Blaze.
“I’ll go, but after that, I have some plans.”
“Where is Fabian? Did he move out? Because I don’t see him so often,” I ask, realizing once again that he’s absent.
“I think he has a girlfriend,” Mom says with a happy smile.
“I have to talk to him one of these days.” I do. The boy is a disaster.
After a breakfast filled with laughter and chatter, we drove to Matias’s warehouse.
“Where are the weapons?” I ask Matias, who smirks.
“What weapons?” The idiot begins laughing as if he just told the funniest joke of the century.
“Cut the jokes, we didn’t come here for stand-up comedy.” I raise my voice slightly, and the laughter immediately dies down.
At least if it were a good joke.
“Sorry, I just tried to lighten the mood." His apology was louder than a whisper, and both I and Blaze smirked.
“Try bringing us the weapons. It will work better.” After we tested the weapons, we paid him, and our guys started loading them into the trucks. Blaze and I parted ways; he likely went to hook up with someone, and I headed home.
I tried to do some paperwork for the hotels, but I can’t focus. I need to work out. I’m feeling a little tense, so I go to the gym to blow off some steam. I was lost in my thoughts trying to find an answer to why I was so attracted to her, why I can’t stop thinking about her, but there is no answer. Not a logical one anyway. Is it possible that Liam and Camilla are right?
“Hey!” A loud, deep voice makes me jump startled and almost drop dead.
"For fuck's sake, Dad, are you trying to give me a heart attack? What are you doing here? Did something happen?"
“I got bored. Anyway, what’s wrong with you?”
“You got bored and decided to kill your firstborn?” He starts laughing, but I’m still trying to regulate my heartbeat.
“And why would you say that something’s wrong with me?”
“You look lost, worried.” Am I so obvious?
“Oh, it’s nothing.” I try to reassure him, but judging by the look of disbelief on his face, I’d say that it didn’t work.
"It doesn’t seem like anything to me. Did everything go well with Matias?"
“Yes. It couldn’t be better. The guns are perfect, and the price even better.”
“Then it’s the girl.” I sigh in defeat and decide to tell him. Maybe he has an answer.
“Yes, Dad. I can’t get her out of my head. And I don’t know why. And it pisses me off.”
"I see. So, I get that you still haven’t found her."
“No, it’s like she never existed.”
“If it’s meant to be, you will find her. Don’t worry.” Well, that’s reassuring.
"Yes. I’m heading back to the club where I first saw her. Maybe I’ll find her there. But if I do, I’ll kidnap her and bring her here. She’s not gonna run away this time.” And I mean it!
“You do that, son… you do that.” He chuckles, taps my shoulder, and walks away, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
I finish training, then get ready, cursing myself for trying so hard. I never ever doubted my tastes, I never changed my clothes twice, and now... Jesus Christ, she’ll kill me.
After I finished, I decided to go downstairs and get something to eat because I need a drink or two, maybe a bottle, and I don’t want to get wasted.
“Hey, Mom, where is everyone else?” I ask Mom, who’s sitting at the kitchen island reading one of her many recipe books.
The woman loves cooking.
“I don’t know, I don’t keep tabs,” she says without looking at me as she turns the page.
“Do you know how the doctor’s appointment went? Have you talked with Liam and Camilla?” She looks at me in response, and a sweet smile spreads across her face again.
“Yes. She is six weeks pregnant. God, I’m so happy!” She’s practically glowing, and I don’t blame her; I can’t wait to have another niece or nephew as well.
“Me too.”
“When will you give me grandchildren?” The sweet smile turns into a sad frown.
“Mom, I don’t even have a girlfriend.”
“What about the girl we talked about last night?” My heart starts racing at the thought of her, and the chance to see her tonight.
“Mom, I told you, I saw her twice, and she barely said two words to me.” But those few words... fuck.
“Well, you need to find a wife soon if you want to officially take your father’s place.” Even though we’re not a Mafia family, we have some similar traditions. Like finding a wife. Stupid, if you ask me, but they say it makes you look more reliable and things like that.
“I know, Mom, I’m trying my best here. I came down to grab something to eat, and then I’ll head back to the club and try to find her.” She smiles again, and I let out a breath of relief.
Dodged a bullet.
"That’s my boy. Don’t give up. Now, let me fix you something to eat."
“I love you, Mom.” I kiss her on the cheek, and she hugs me tightly.
“I love you, too, baby boy.”
I couldn’t even eat everything; that’s how nervous I am, so I decided to go for a walk in the garden to relax a bit.
