Chapter Thirteen.

Chapter Thirteen.
ADONIS’S POINT OF VIEW
After finishing with the warehouses, we went and bought flowers for our girls. We always do this at least once a week, so they won’t forget how special they are to us.
They are the only women who received flowers from me. In fact, I have never given a woman a present before. Not even to my ex, whom I was with for two years.
I always gave her money. Too much money. At first, she wouldn’t take a penny, so I thought she wasn’t a gold digger and decided to move in with her at my penthouse. At the mansion, we only move in with the woman we plan to marry, and I wasn't ready to take that step. I thank God because the moment she moved her clothes into my closet, she started spending more and more money.
I didn’t care because, after all, she was my girlfriend and I wanted her to look good. I have more money than I could spend in ten lifetimes, so money isn’t a problem. But she started withdrawing from the bank, not just pocket change, and that caught my attention. When I confronted her, she tried to give me some bullshit excuses about how she gave money to a friend or that she had to pay cash. I mean, what can someone buy with $50,000 in cash?
When she saw I was pissed off, and that was the moment I put the gun to her head, she finally told me the real story. She had someone else, and they wanted to run away together, so they needed money. It turned out she was afraid of me, not in love with me. Okay, I didn’t suffer or cry, but I lost my trust in women.
So, I got my money back and wished them a nice life. Since that day, I haven't been with a woman for more than one night. I have to be realistic; there are times when I come home covered in blood, and what woman wants that? Those women are one in a million, and I definitely don’t want a woman who stays with me for my money.
But this woman… fuck, I want her so bad. But how would she react if she knew who I really am? In the public eye, I am a normal businessman, so I could hide from her for a while, but I can’t hide forever. Fuck it, I don’t want to hide. So, I can only guess that she would end up running as fast as she can, just like she ran today.
Fuck, this is fucked up.
I know that probably it’s not the best idea to look for her because I could develop strong feelings for her, but to be totally honest, I think I already did, so I might as well dig my grave deeper.
I don’t really believe in love; I think it’s overrated. Yes, I believe in love for your family, your blood. You’re born to love them. But a woman… and they say that’s a different kind of love. How many different kinds are there?
I know for sure I’m infatuated with her, but love seems far-fetched. You can’t fall for someone in just one hour, right? Okay, maybe three. I’ve watched that video a couple of times.
Anyway, it’s not a good idea, but I can’t help myself. I have to find her or I’ll go crazy. I feel so many things when I see or think about her, and most of them are related to my dick, but others have nothing to do with sex. I want to find out what she loves, what she hates, what keeps her up at night, what makes her laugh — I want to know everything and more.
God, I’m fucked up.
Liam parked the car in the garage, but I feel like I’m chained to the passenger seat, unable to stop thinking about her.
“Hello! Earth to Adonis!” My brother’s yelling pulls me out of my thoughts.
“What?” I answer a little irritated. I was hoping to find some answers.
“I called your name five times. We are home, are you coming in or are you planning on sleeping in the car?”
“Yeah… I heard you. It’s just that…” I sigh heavily, not really sure what to say.
“Daydreaming about her?” he asks with a cheeky smile, and I roll my eyes.
“You know me too well. I have to stop talking to you.”
“It’s okay. I know the feeling; the same thing happened to me with Camilla. Even now, I daydream about her. It’s like nothing has changed. Every time I see her, it feels like the first time. Except when she yells at me.” We both chuckle, but mine isn’t quite wholehearted.
“Yes, but you love her, and she loves you. I shouldn’t daydream about her. At least not like I do. It’s not only about sex, and that stuff isn’t normal.”
“Have you heard about love at first sight?” My eyes go wide at his silly question, and he chuckles. Funny.
“Shut the fuck up. Now that’s bullshit. That doesn’t exist. I’m not sure if I’m even capable of love at all. So, no chance in hell.”
“Are you sure, brother? You don’t look too convincing to me. I mean, I know I’ve never seen you like this, not even with Veronica, and the look on your face when you saw her today… you were fucking glowing.”
“Now, you’re really talking shit. I don’t fucking glow!”
"But you did, brother… you did. Now, let’s go inside and have dinner. Mom will kill us if we’re late."
“And, as I said, once again, you are thinking about her.” Now the fucker glows.
“Fuck you! I will kill you one of these days!” I make another empty threat and get out, slam the door to make a point, and the fucker laughs.
We go inside, and I see my princess in the mirror on the wall, hiding behind the door, and as usual, I pretend that I don’t see her.
“BOOOOOOOOO!” Maria yells at the top of her lungs, and I put my hand over my chest, pretending that I’m scared.
“God, you scared me, princess. You want to give your favorite uncle a heart attack?” She giggles like the angel she is and comes next to me.
“You are not her favorite uncle!” Blaze says with a frown on his face.
“Calm down, none of you is! I am her favorite uncle, isn’t so sweetheart?” The pride in Fabian’s voice makes me chuckle.
I’m the favorite.
“Tell me, princess, who is your favorite uncle?” I give her the small bouquet and take her in my arms, and she puts her little hand next to my ear and whispers. "You are, Ado, but don’t tell, okay?” I smile big and whisper back.
“Okay, but you owe me a kiss on the cheek for that. You know that I don’t like lying.”
“I’ll give you three kisses. One for lying, one for the flowers, and one because I love you the most.”
“Oh, tonight I’m a lucky uncle.” I laugh at our little conversation, and she gives me three sweet kisses. God, I love this small creature.
My brothers are still here, looking at us, waiting for an answer.
“And the answer is……… she loves us all the same. No favorites.” Even if the smile on my face might’ve said something else.
“That’s what you think. She doesn’t want to hurt your feelings.” Fabian looks at Maria with a pleading look, but she buries her head in my chest to hide from him.
“Keep dreaming. She told me this afternoon that I’m her favorite,” Blaze says smugly.
“She told me the same,” Fabian says in shock, making me chuckle.
“She wanted cookies?” Blaze asks, and Maria giggles against my chest.
“Yep. Man, this little girl has us all wrapped around her little finger.” Fabian shakes his head in amusement, and Maria and I start laughing.
“That she does,” I admit and kiss her on the forehead before I put her down.
“Boys, what are you doing in the hallway? Dinner is getting cold,” Mom scolds as she comes and looks at all of us with a frown.
Mom is the only one who can do and say anything, and neither of us dares to talk back. She looks like an angel, with black curly hair, green kind eyes, and a calm smile, but you don’t want to piss her off.
“They are fighting for Maria’s love,” Liam explains and gives Mom the flowers and a kiss on the cheek.
“Aw, this is the second time this week. Not that I’m complaining, but did you do something?” She asks, and we all start laughing.
“No, we just love you,” I say as I go and give her also a kiss on the cheek.
“Where is my beautiful wife? I have some for her, too.” Liam asks with a loving smile on his face.
“She’s in the dining room, she--” Liam didn’t even wait for Mom to finish the sentence before he went to look for the love of his life.
Would I be as desperate as he is if I were with my gorgeous rainbow?
Hmm...
