Chapter 73

Chapter 73

Jessica's irritation was palpable. "Scarlett, what the heck? Alexander and I are worried about you, and now it's our fault?"

Scarlett didn't even bother to look up. Leaning against the railing, her thin frame seemed to hang in midair. "What did I do? Ms. Green and Mr. King, as our elders, have time to wonder why I'm here alone, but you get mad when I suggest you ask Sebastian what he's up to?"

She rolled her eyes. "Ms. Green, if you don't like meddling, then just don't ask."

Without waiting for Jessica to respond, she turned on her heels and strutted away in her high heels.

Alexander couldn't take his eyes off her retreating figure, a subtle smile playing on his lips.

Lately, Scarlett had been putting on a submissive front around him, but he remembered her as someone bold and unrestrained. Seeing Scarlett lose her composure was an unexpected delight.

Jessica noticed his distraction and clung to his arm. "Alexander..."

Alexander snapped out of it, pulling his arm away without hesitation, even dropping the pretense of a smile. "Ms. Green, my father asked me to accompany you out of courtesy today. In the future, please refrain from making such requests."

He turned and followed Scarlett, paying no mind to the woman behind him who was seething with jealousy.

Scarlett wandered around with her wine glass, engaging in a few conversations, but overall, it wasn't going well.

Feeling a bit defeated, she set her glass down and stepped outside for some fresh air.

It was already evening, and the salty sea breeze should have been relaxing, but she couldn't calm her mind.

The need for new investors was pressing, and she regretted her earlier outburst.

She still couldn't figure out why Alexander refused to sign, and now she'd gone and offended both him and Jessica in one fell swoop.

This would only make it harder to get investment from Alexander.

She closed her eyes briefly.

Might as well put pressure on Sebastian.

Scarlett: [Isn't Alexander supposed to be on a business trip?]

Sebastian quickly replied with a question mark.

Scarlett: [I ran into him at Evan's party, with Jessica.]

Sebastian: [Why don't you just ask him yourself?]

Scarlett was speechless. After a moment of silence, she typed: [How can I? Alexander is too busy exposing our rocky relationship. I can't get a word in.]

Sebastian sent a laughing emoji: [He's very faithful in relationships. It's normal he doesn't understand our situation.]

Faithful, my foot.

Scarlett almost rolled her eyes.

Scarlett: [I can't deal with this. You better ask him soon. The project can't wait.]

Sebastian ended the conversation with an "ok" emoji.

Moira and Evan appeared from somewhere below, waving at her.

Moira called out loudly. "Scarlett! Come down and swim with us."

Scarlett then noticed Moira already in her swimsuit, being coaxed into the water by Evan.

Given the choice, she didn't want to intrude on them, but staying here risked running into Alexander and Jessica again, which she wanted to avoid.

Scarlett quickly made up her mind and headed downstairs.

She waved back at Moira. "Wait for me, I'll go change!"

The women's changing room was on the third deck of the yacht. Scarlett hurried up and found her swimsuit.

Scarlett had slept in late, and Moira had helped pack for her. When Scarlett pulled out the swimsuit, she couldn't help but twitch her lips.

Moira had mentioned that one of the reasons for bringing her out today was to help her find a new beau. Even though Scarlett had outright rejected the idea, Moira clearly hadn't listened, choosing the most revealing swimsuit for her.

Scarlett was speechless.

But there didn't seem to be any other options now, and Moira was waiting.

Scarlett took a deep breath and changed into the swimsuit, feeling a bit awkward but suppressing the feeling. She put away her phone and headed out.

She was startled to find someone standing outside the door.

Alexander had somehow made his way there, leaning against the opposite wall, leisurely observing her.

The swimsuit was quite daring, a white one-piece that hugged her body tightly, with a cutout design at the chest.

Her long, dark hair cascaded down her back, with a few strands playfully slipping into the neckline, moving with her every step.

Scarlett frowned slightly.

Alexander's unabashed gaze made her uncomfortable.

She was about to walk away when Alexander moved faster, grabbing her wrist.

Scarlett turned to him, puzzled. "Mr. King, what gives?"

Her eyes flashed with clear anger.

The swimsuit clung to her skin, gleaming under the light.

Alexander had to admit, the thought of Scarlett dressed like this in front of other men made him insanely jealous.

He could almost imagine how enticing she must look to other men.

The soft, warm skin under his fingers made him reluctant to let go.

But seeing Scarlett about to get angry, Alexander softened his expression and released her. "Can we talk?"

Scarlett hesitated.

She looked at Alexander, her expression complicated.

The issue with the "prosperous age" project was still unresolved. She needed to talk to Alexander, but why was he suddenly willing to talk now, in such an unlikely setting?

It was strange.

But she couldn't refuse.

As she pondered, Alexander turned and headed up to the fourth deck.

He didn't look back, clearly confident that she would follow.

Scarlett felt a twinge of annoyance.

But she had no choice.

Reluctantly, she followed Alexander.

The fourth deck was an open area. Alexander walked quickly and, upon reaching the destination, leaned lazily against the railing, watching Scarlett approach.

Love and desire were never separate.

At this moment, seeing the girl he liked walking toward him in a sexy swimsuit, Alexander felt a certain part of his body react. He was slightly embarrassed and adjusted his posture to hide it.

Scarlett stood before him.

The moon was rising.

Moonlight slanted down, the sea breeze tousling her hair, sticking it to her cheeks. She looked like a siren under the moonlight.

Alexander's throat tightened.

How could he not be moved?

It was impossible not to be.

Scarlett waited for a long time, but Alexander showed no sign of speaking.

If they weren't making eye contact, Scarlett would have thought he was a statue.

Finally, she couldn't take it anymore.

Scarlett sighed and stepped closer. "Mr. King, what do you want to talk about?"
