Chapter 67
Chapter 67
Scarlett couldn't figure out why Emma was so keen on sharing details about her love life.
But if Emma liked to share, she shouldn't shy away from a confrontation.
Emma had come to rattle her, thinking the news of her fiancé's cheating would be enough to upset Scarlett. She hadn't expected Scarlett to handle it so well.
The tension between the two women was thick.
Emma still smiled, "Ms.Collins, you're really cold-hearted. Honestly, if Sebastian is treating me this way, isn't it because you haven't been a good fiancée?"
Scarlett was stunned, "Excuse me?"
She looked at Emma with an expression that was hard to describe.
It was the 21st century, and yet there were still women who could say such things. It was quite astonishing.
Scarlett almost laughed, "Ms.White, this may be a film set, but it's not your stage for a spontaneous performance. If you like these cheating storylines, go ask Sebastian to set up a new crew for you. I don't have a role for a mistress here."
"You!" Emma couldn't hold back any longer, "Are you calling me a mistress?"
Scarlett looked at her coolly, "Aren't you?"
Emma was so shameless and without moral boundaries that Scarlett saw no need to spare her feelings.
Seeing the two women about to come to blows, the onlookers quickly intervened to diffuse the situation, pulling them apart.
"Alright, alright, today is the important opening ceremony for the crew. Let's not have any conflicts. We still have things to do after the group photo."
Scarlett didn't respond.
Emma was pulled aside, but she angrily stood her ground in the center.
The male and female leads exchanged glances, not daring to speak, looking to Scarlett for help.
Scarlett didn't even look at her, only saying to Tammy, "Tammy, call Sebastian on video and ask if our positions are correct."
Sebastian was Emma's weak spot.
At least so far, no matter how much Emma acted out behind Sebastian's back, she hadn't given up her facade of being kind and pure in front of him.
Sure enough, as soon as Scarlett spoke, Emma reluctantly changed her position.
After the group photo was taken without further incident, Scarlett felt weak and dizzy.
Every encounter with Emma was incredibly draining, both physically and mentally.
As the crowd dispersed, Scarlett slowly made her way to the office, planning to rest in the lounge.
But she hadn't gone far before an enraged Emma blocked her path.
Scarlett was speechless.
Emma was clearly waiting for her on purpose, "Ms.Collins, you're quite pleased with yourself today."
Pleased?
Scarlett looked at Emma, "Why would I be pleased about having the other woman come to my workplace to talk about her sex life with my husband?"
She truly didn't understand.
If she and Sebastian weren't in a fake engagement, Emma's actions today would have landed her in the ICU.
What was there to be pleased about in becoming a laughingstock?
Emma's expression turned venomous, "Scarlett, the one who isn't loved is the other woman! Besides, Sebastian has always loved me. He only got engaged to you to appease his family. He doesn't love you! What right do you have to call me the other woman?"
Scarlett raised an eyebrow.
She looked at Emma calmly, as if watching a farce, "If you're so confident, why go through all this today?"
Her head was spinning, and Scarlett took a step back, leaning against the wall.
"You're not even sure how long Sebastian's love for you will last. You're anxious and scared, so you keep clashing with me, just to confirm that Sebastian still loves you, right?"
Emma instinctively retorted, "What nonsense are you talking about? Sebastian loves me. I just hate you, that's all!"
Scarlett drawled, "Did you even know me before I got engaged to Sebastian?"
"Why deceive yourself, Ms.White?"
Emma's face turned red with anger, clearly embarrassed and furious.
"I'll tell you again, you don't need to seek validation from me. Whatever you plan to do to attack me, I don't care."
Scarlett spoke the truth, but to Emma, it sounded different.
Emma stared at Scarlett, replaying her words in her mind, concluding that Scarlett would never let go.
This was something Emma couldn't accept.
She moved quickly, suddenly lunging to choke Scarlett.
Scarlett, already unwell and weak, was caught off guard by Emma's sudden attack. The pain in her throat made her struggle to push Emma away.
But her hands were too weak to muster any strength.
Her breathing became increasingly difficult.
Scarlett thought, 'Is she going to strangle me to death?'
"Stop!"
The pressure on her neck suddenly disappeared, followed by an angry male voice, "What the hell are you doing?"
Scarlett struggled to open her eyes, thinking she saw Alexander.
She couldn't believe it and rubbed her eyes before looking again.
This time, Alexander was indeed there, frowning slightly at her.
Beside him, Emma's face was pale, "I didn't mean to... I didn't..."
Alexander asked, "Scarlett, are you okay?"
Scarlett shook her head lightly.
She touched her neck, suddenly feeling a lingering fear.
Emma, after a brief moment of shock, suddenly pointed at Scarlett, "You did it on purpose! You acted in front of Uncle Alexander!"
Scarlett looked at her calmly.
She didn't want to explain.
The sluggish reaction due to her illness was a fact, but she hadn't expected Emma to actually try to strangle her.
Alexander frowned, "Ms.White, Scarlett is the one engaged to Sebastian. You don't have the right to call me Uncle."
Scarlett glanced at Alexander, then quickly looked away.
Alexander asked her, "How do you plan to handle this?"
What else could she do?
Emma was Sebastian's lover and a role in her new project.
Making a big deal out of this now would mean offending the sponsor before "Prosperous Age" even started filming.
Scarlett didn't want that.
"This is just a misunderstanding, no need to blow it up." She touched her neck, making an excuse for Emma, "Ms.White was just provoked by me and acted impulsively. Let her go."
She didn't look at Alexander, missing the playful look in his eyes.
Alexander nodded along with her words, and Mike finally let go of Emma.
Emma's face showed no gratitude, still glaring at Scarlett before running off.
Scarlett just felt regretful for agreeing to Sebastian's plan and getting involved with Emma.
Her mind was fuzzy, thinking she should keep her cool next time. Being resented was never a good thing, especially since Emma might actually marry into the Black family.
She was already exhausted but still had to adjust her state to negotiate with Alexander.
"Mr. King, what brings you here?"
Alexander found an excuse, "I happened to be passing by and heard from Mike that you had an opening ceremony today, so I thought I'd come take a look. I didn't expect to see such a dramatic scene first."
Scarlett looked up in shock.
Did that mean he heard her entire conversation with Emma?
Thinking of those ambiguous, insincere words, Scarlett felt her face heat up.
She prayed Alexander hadn't heard.
But then he said something that made her even more embarrassed.
He still wore that smiling expression, genuinely sincere, "Ms. Collins, your deep affection for Sebastian is truly heartwarming. As Sebastian's elder, I'm very pleased."
