Chapter 64

Chapter 64

Didn't care about Sebastian at all?

Alexander's heart raced with emotion.

With this new perspective, everything from the past seemed to have a different explanation.

Scarlett always claimed she loved Sebastian and couldn't live without him.

But in reality?

She almost let Sebastian and Emma get tangled up together, no matter how outrageous Emma's behavior was, she seemed indifferent.

Previously, he thought Scarlett loved Sebastian too much, but what if she didn't care?

It seemed to make more sense.

Alexander felt enlightened!

Tyler added, "You were together once. You should know best how she loves someone. Of course, we can't deny that people's expressions of love can change as they age, but there should be some traceable patterns."

Alexander's breathing became rapid.

He knew exactly how Scarlett loved!

When they were together, Scarlett worried about people gossiping and didn't make their relationship public.

A girl confessed to him, and Scarlett witnessed it, even though he rejected her on the spot.

But Scarlett remembered it, teasing him at night, "Why are you so charming?"

Then she pressed against his chest and whispered, "If you ever truly fall for someone else, tell me, Alexander. I can let you go. But I don't want to share my lover with anyone."

But with Sebastian?

He always thought Scarlett loved Sebastian too much, so she compromised without limits.

But if she truly loved him, how could she be indifferent to Emma's presence?

Instead, Emma kept provoking.

She showed up at the engagement party, called during the birthday party, and repeatedly exposed her and Sebastian's scandals.

These actions were certainly not dignified, but Emma was always striving for Sebastian.

Scarlett, the legitimate fiancée, seemed overly magnanimous, which he previously thought was out of necessity. But now, it seemed too much.

What if she didn't care?

She didn't care who Sebastian loved, nor did she care about the Black family's behavior. Even if Emma stood right in front of her, she wouldn't pay any attention.

Because her engagement with Sebastian had nothing to do with love!

The truth was emerging.

Alexander could no longer maintain his calm exterior. He looked at Tyler with intense emotion, "If Scarlett doesn't care about Sebastian, then..."

Tyler avoided the question.

"I might not have told you, but besides low blood sugar, she also has psychological issues. I can't answer your question, but at least it shows that during your painful time, she didn't seem to be doing well either."

Tyler finished speaking, patted Alexander's shoulder, and left the room.

He needed to give Alexander space to think.

Alexander buried his face in his hands.

He couldn't describe his feelings at that moment.

Should he be happy? It didn't seem like it. His mind was filled with Tyler's words, "She wasn't doing well."

But if Scarlett liked him, why did she keep pushing him away?

Even to the point of tormenting herself?

He had no answers.

But no matter what, even if there was only a glimmer of hope, he didn't want to give up.

Alexander's mind was a mess, so he decided to ask Dylan.

Dylan's advice was straightforward, "If you can't figure it out, either ask her directly or test it. Follow her lead and see her reaction."

Alexander hung up the phone and took a moment to process everything.

Whether Dylan's advice would work was uncertain, but it was the only option he had right now.

Alexander sighed deeply.

—

As night fell, Scarlett was determined to send Moira home.

"I'm not that bad off. You should go home and be with Tracy. Bring me some sweet soup tomorrow morning," Scarlett said, gently pushing her out the door. "There are caregivers here, you don't need to stay."

Tracy was indeed alone at home, and Moira couldn't argue.

Before leaving, Moira received a call.

It was Evan, "Aria said you're at the hospital. I'll come pick you up."

Moira replied, "Okay, call me when you get here."

Since their deep conversation on Friday, Moira and Evan were acting like a couple in the honeymoon phase. Seeing Moira find true love, Scarlett felt relieved, "Got any plans?"

"We were supposed to have dinner tonight and bring you and Tracy along," Moira remembered and glared at her, "But someone doesn't have an appetite."

Scarlett fell silent.

But then Moira frowned, "I'm actually worried if Tracy will accept him. I'm a bit concerned."

Scarlett laughed, "You're worrying too much. Don't you know your own daughter's personality? She barely met Alexander and asked if he wanted to be her dad..."

Halfway through her sentence, she thought of Alexander and her mood dropped, "Anyway, Evan's face is quite appealing. I think the chances of Tracy not accepting him are low."

Moira felt comforted and shrugged, making a funny face at her, "Let's hope so."

At Scarlett's insistence, Evan didn't come upstairs to see her and left with Moira.

Confirming Moira wouldn't return, Scarlett secretly took out her tablet from her bag and continued reviewing contracts.

The "Prosperous Age" project was significant to her, and she had to handle it personally.

Suddenly, someone pushed the door open.

Scarlett thought Moira had returned and instinctively hid the tablet, ready to explain with a smile. But when she looked up, it was Alexander.

She was momentarily speechless.

Seeing Alexander while sick wasn't ideal. Just looking at him made Scarlett feel her rationality eroding.

She instinctively lowered her head, feeling a bit down.

Alexander stopped at the door and smiled at her.

Seeing her discomfort, Alexander explained, "Don't overthink. I'm here with Jessica. I heard from Tyler that you're hospitalized, so I came to check on you."

Scarlett's lips moved, her throat dry, wanting to say something but unable to make a sound.

Alexander's tone was quite formal, as if she were an insignificant person.

This version of Alexander was too unfamiliar to her.

No matter how uncomfortable she felt, Scarlett could only muster a smile, "What's wrong with Ms. Green?"

Alexander's expression was indifferent, "Nothing serious. She said she had nightmares, so I brought her to get checked."

"I see."

Alexander responded with a simple "Hmm" and walked over to sit on the chair by Scarlett's bed, "I came today not just to see you, but also to discuss something."

Before Scarlett could respond, he quickly added, "Don't misunderstand. I've thought it through. You were right. I should cherish the people around me."
