Chapter 63

Chapter 63

As Tyler expected, Alexander was indeed impatient, responding with a question mark almost immediately.

Before Tyler could reply, Alexander's call came through.

Tyler sighed.

Alexander's voice was urgent, accompanied by the sound of hurried footsteps, "What's going on?"

"Why are you so anxious? I just ran into her and was about to ask what's up," Tyler said, continuing to walk. "She's getting an IV right now, but she seems to be in good spirits. It shouldn't be anything serious."

Alexander responded with a curt acknowledgment and hung up.

Tyler knew Alexander well enough not to expect him to take his words to heart.

Estimating the time it would take Alexander to get from the office to the hospital, Tyler quickly went to gather more information about Scarlett's condition to avoid any complications when Alexander arrived.

After all, he couldn't just let Alexander ask Scarlett himself.

Especially since she had already dumped him, right?

Alexander arrived quickly, drenched from a sudden downpour, not even bothering with an umbrella.

Before he could ask, Tyler spoke up, "I asked around. It's low blood sugar, a bit of anemia, and overexertion."

Alexander's face darkened.

Tyler, engrossed in the medical report and not noticing Alexander's expression, added inappropriately, "She really doesn't take care of herself."

Alexander didn't respond. He silently took the medical report from Tyler's hand, his brow furrowed.

He couldn't understand how Scarlett had let herself get into such a state.

Hadn't she left him to live a better life?

But no one had an answer for him.

Leaving Tyler's office, Alexander headed straight for Scarlett's room.

But as he reached the door, he hesitated, unsure of what role he should play in this situation.

Did Scarlett even want to see him?

In times like these, she probably needed Sebastian more.

Alexander stopped outside the door.

Through the window, he could clearly see Scarlett.

Compared to two days ago, she looked more haggard. Her once beautiful face was now gaunt, with her cheekbones protruding, making her look pitiful.

Now, she was talking to Moira.

Separated by the door, he couldn't hear their conversation.

Alexander stood silently, guarding the door.

Moira was trying to persuade Scarlett to put down her work and rest.

Scarlett was bargaining, "This contract is really important. You have to let me finish it today."

"Fine, fine," Moira relented, "but you need to rest first. I'll go get you something to eat."

Scarlett hesitated, "No need, I... I don't really have an appetite."

Moira's face hardened, "You haven't eaten properly since Saturday. Please take care of yourself. I don't want you collapsing at the start of our venture!"

She was both angry and heartbroken.

Scarlett's condition was all because of Alexander.

Moira's eyes were cold, "If you can't let him go, why not fight for him? You pushed him away, and now you're doing this for what? I'm warning you, if you keep this up, I'll go find Alexander myself!"

Scarlett's eyes darted away, "What does this have to do with him? I'm just under a lot of pressure lately."

Her voice grew weaker.

Moira sneered, "If it's just pressure, I can halt 'Prosperous Age.'"

Scarlett was speechless.

That was a threat.

But Moira was capable of following through.

Reluctantly, Scarlett conceded, "Then... I want some dessert from Sage & Stone."

She looked at Moira pleadingly, and seeing her expression soften, she finally relaxed.

Before leaving, Moira sent a message in the company group chat, instructing everyone to ignore any messages from Scarlett, cutting off her escape route.

Scarlett obediently lay in bed, pulling the covers up to her eyes, "I'll sleep a bit while you're gone."

Moira was finally satisfied.

Outside, Alexander's focus was entirely on Scarlett, so when Moira opened the door, he was startled back to reality.

Their eyes met, and Moira instinctively closed the door behind her.

She glanced inside to ensure Scarlett was asleep before speaking, "Mr. King, what are you doing here?"

Alexander smiled, "Oh, I was just passing by."

His nervousness was obvious, yet he claimed it was a coincidence?

Moira didn't call him out, "I see."

Both had their own thoughts, making the conversation awkward.

Alexander didn't want Scarlett to know he was there, and now that he had been caught, he decided to leave, "I need to get back to work, Ms. Brown. Please don't mention this to her."

With that, he turned and left.

Moira watched his dejected figure, then looked at the frail Scarlett in bed, and could only sigh deeply.

Alexander returned to Tyler's office.

Tyler was surprised, "Done already?"

Alexander ignored him, sitting on the couch with a distant look.

Tyler made a cup of coffee and handed it to him.

"Alexander, don't you find it odd that this is Scarlett's second time in the hospital, yet Sebastian has never shown up? Aren't they engaged?"

Alexander looked at him, his eyes filled with frustration.

"Sebastian has someone he likes, and it's not Scarlett. Their engagement is one-sided, with Scarlett liking him."

Admitting this was like a dagger to Alexander's heart.

Tyler stared at him, repeating, "Don't you find it strange?"

Alexander frowned.

Strange?

What was strange about it?

Feelings were unpredictable, and unrequited love wasn't unusual.

If anything, Scarlett's love for Sebastian was the odd part.

Seeing Alexander's confusion, Tyler grew exasperated, "How did I not realize you were this dense? I'm talking about Scarlett! Don't you find Scarlett's behavior strange?"

Alexander thought hard but came up empty, "Just say it."

"Unrequited love isn't strange, and Sebastian not visiting isn't strange either. The odd part is Scarlett," Tyler began slowly, seeing Alexander's curious gaze.

"If Scarlett loves Sebastian so much, why wouldn't she inform her fiancé when she's sick?"

"Scarlett isn't stupid. She wouldn't miss a chance to get close to Sebastian."

Before Alexander could respond, Tyler cut him off, "I know you want to say maybe she did inform him, and he just didn't come, right?"

"But you were there the last time Scarlett was hospitalized, and you saw her this time too. Have you ever seen her look disappointed? It seems like she doesn't care about Sebastian at all."
