Chapter 57
Chapter 57
Evan led Moira to the backstage workroom.
Scarlett couldn't follow them in, but she was worried Moira might get anxious without her nearby, so she decided to wait by the door.
Unexpectedly, Tammy and Aria showed up first.
"Scarlett?" Tammy looked surprised. "Weren't you guys supposed to..."
Scarlett shook her head. "Something came up. We'll skip the celebration tonight. You should take Aria home to rest."
She then patted Aria on the shoulder. "You were absolutely stunning today. I bet starting tomorrow, you won't have much time off."
Aria smiled shyly. "I can't wait."
For her right now, getting more new work was the best thing.
After a few more words, Tammy and Aria left.
Scarlett watched them disappear around the corner of the hallway, then leaned against the wall, feeling a bit melancholic.
The night grew deeper, and the moonlight streamed through the window, casting a small shadow on her.
Scarlett pressed her hand against the shadow, finding it amusing. She started moving her right hand in the moonlight, watching the shadow change.
She was so engrossed in her own amusement that she didn't notice someone approaching.
Suddenly, a pair of hands grabbed her waist and covered her mouth, dragging her into a nearby small room.
The movement was so swift that Scarlett had no time to react.
As her breathing was restricted, panic filled her mind.
She couldn't understand how a bad person could have snuck into this place. With her mouth covered, she couldn't call for help, so she struggled desperately.
Her fear gave her strength, and she managed to elbow her assailant in the stomach, eliciting a muffled groan in the darkness.
That sound?
Scarlett stopped struggling and pried the hand off her mouth. After taking a few deep breaths, she spoke in disbelief, "Alexander?"
She had been too tense to notice before.
Now that she was calmer, she realized the scent was familiar. It was the cologne Alexander had been using for the past three years.
It could only be Alexander.
He didn't answer, just turned her around, cupped her face, and pressed her against the door.
The position was uncomfortable, and before she could adjust, his kiss landed on her lips.
Alexander didn't know how to describe his feelings at that moment.
His extensive business experience offered no guidance, and all his romantic experience was tied to the woman in front of him.
His heart was overflowing with emotion.
Since the day Scarlett left after receiving Sebastian's call, things had been off between them.
She had unilaterally declared their relationship over and blocked all his contact.
At first, Alexander considered using Mike's phone to reach her, but holding Mike's phone made him feel absurd.
What would contacting her achieve?
Would he ask for a reason?
Did he need to hear her say she was tired of him again?
He had been holding back these past few days.
But when Scarlett wouldn't even let him be near her, his patience ran out.
The anger, pain, and fear of losing Scarlett again had been building up inside him.
He felt suffocated.
Almost immediately after the curtain call, he ditched Jessica and ran to find Scarlett.
But the woman in front of him was leisurely playing with shadows in the moonlight.
She seemed so carefree.
Alexander was furious.
He wanted to drag Scarlett back to his villa, tie her to the bed, and make her soothe all his anxieties and restlessness with her body.
He wanted to force her to repeatedly say she loved him, not Sebastian.
He wanted to torment her, make her cry and beg, and he wouldn't relent.
But holding her in his arms, he felt nothing but tenderness.
Scarlett would be scared of him.
So those cruel thoughts turned into kisses. He kissed every inch of her skin like a devout worshipper.
He needed to remind himself that Scarlett belonged to him and always had.
His kisses were too intense.
Scarlett couldn't handle it. She tried to push him away, but she was no match for Alexander's strength.
His kisses landed on her eyelids, cheeks, and lips.
They weren't just filled with desire, but she couldn't help but moan, clinging to Alexander's neck, her voice tinged with tears. "Alexander."
Her eyes were teary.
As her eyes adjusted to the darkness, Alexander's face became clearer. She reached up to touch his cheek.
Alexander grabbed her hand first, placing it on his face, his voice hoarse. "Scarlett... my Scarlett!"
Scarlett snapped back to reality at his words.
Tears welled up in her eyes, and she lowered her head, letting them fall where he couldn't see.
She tried to suppress her sobs, forcing herself to be rational. "Alexander, we're not right for each other."
His body tensed, and he let out a cold laugh. "Scarlett, is this your new excuse?"
"Three years ago, you were tired of me. Now, we're not right for each other." His laugh was bitter.
"It seems Ms. Collins doesn't care as much as she did three years ago. This time, you can't even be bothered to come up with a reason. Tell me, what is right, and how are we not right?"
He almost shouted the last sentence.
Scarlett was at a loss.
She couldn't answer his questions.
One lie required countless others to cover it.
Saying she didn't love Alexander was the biggest lie of her life. Faced with his questions, she could only evade or fabricate more lies.
Scarlett forced a smile. "What is right? You don't know? Sebastian and I are right, and you and Ms. Green are right too."
Alexander's face darkened.
Scarlett was trying to push him to another woman to get rid of him.
In the darkness, his breathing became rapid. He grabbed Scarlett's shoulders and kissed her fiercely.
Scarlett winced in pain, hitting his shoulders, but he didn't seem to notice.
When he tasted blood, Alexander finally pulled back, satisfied.
Scarlett touched her wound, hissing in pain. "Are you a mad dog, biting people like that?"
"And what are you? A heartless woman who abandons her pet?" Alexander's voice was icy. "Using me and then discarding me. There aren't many as heartless as you."
Scarlett fell silent.
