Big Decisions
Chapter 58
OLIVIA’S POV
I went straight to the house but saw Wendy instead. She looked worried the moment she saw me and quickly came over to hug me.
I stiffened a little, confused by the sudden concern. “Olivia, is everything alright?” she asked, pulling back slightly to study my face.
I didn’t even know how to answer. My mind was still a mess from everything that had happened earlier.
“I think Marcus probably needs you right now,” she said before I could speak. “He’s been cooped up in his room ever since he came back upset.”
“What happened?” I asked, my heart skipping.
Wendy frowned. “I… didn’t you have a fight?”
“No,” I said slowly. “I haven’t seen Marcus since I…” I paused, exhaling hard. “Since I got back from seeing my baby.”
"What?" She looked confused now.
“Can I talk to you for a minute?” I asked.
Before she could respond, Mr. Kingston stepped out of the hallway. “What’s going on? Is Marcus out already?”
Wendy shook her head. “No. I think Kimberly is with him.”
The moment I heard that, I felt my blood boil. I tried to compose myself, but my pulse was already pounding in my ears. Wendy and her husband kept talking, but I couldn’t hear a thing they were saying anymore.
“I’ll be back,” I said sharply, and before they could stop me, I was already heading upstairs.
When I reached his door, I paused, trying to steady my breathing. My heart was racing wildly. I trust Damon, I told myself. I do. But the urge to see for myself was stronger.
The door was closed. I stood there for a second, contemplating whether to just knock or walk away. But my hand moved on its own. Slowly, I reached for the handle and pushed it open.
And there they were.
On the bed.
Both of them.
For a few seconds, I couldn’t breathe. Kimberly’s bare body was pressed against his, her arms wound around his neck, her head thrown back in pleasure.
And Marcus, who had his face buried in her chest with his hands on either sides of her waist, was guiding her up and down his cock— both of them completely lost in each other.
I froze at the spot. I didn’t even know what I was supposed to feel. Anger? Pain? Betrayal? I was just… numb. Watching them. Absorbing the sight like a wound I’d been expecting all along.
And strangely, there was a sort of relief in that moment. Maybe because I’d been waiting for something to finally break. Maybe because I needed to see this, so I wouldn’t keep feeling guilty for my own choices. Still, it was bizarre — Marcus doing this, with his stepsister of all people.
“Liv?”
It was Marcus. His voice broke through the fog. I blinked, realizing he was staring at me now, wide-eyed and frozen. Kimberly turned too, shock written all over her face as they scrambled apart.
“How did you get in? The door was supposed to be locked!” Kimberly demanded.
I shook my head slowly, my voice trembling with disbelief. “How did I get in my fiancé’s room?”
Kimberly scoffed, grabbing her clothes from the floor while Marcus quickly slipped on a pair of shorts.
“God,” I whispered, my voice cracking as I stared at them. “You two are disgusting. You’re having sex with your stepsister… what the fuck, Marcus!?”
“Lower your fucking voice or I’ll make you,” Kimberly snapped, stepping toward me. “Are you insane!?”
She grabbed my wrist and slammed the door shut behind me.
“Am I insane?” I scoffed, my voice rising in disbelief. “I just caught you both in bed and you’re asking if I’m insane!?”
“Coming from someone who just got back from fucking her ex-boyfriend! You're one to talk.” she shot back.
That hit me hard. For a second, I was still. But honestly, I shouldn’t have been surprised they knew. I just wondered how.
I took a step closer to her. “My ex-boyfriend who’s soon to be my husband,” I snapped, watching as the color drained from Marcus’s face.
“Whatever we have is over. Do you hear me?” My voice shook, but I meant every word. “We are over, Marcus.”
He scoffed bitterly. “Because I… slept with Kim? Come on, Olivia, stop acting like the saint here. You’ve been sleeping with Damon for God knows how—”
“Because I’m in love with him!” I cut him off sharply. “I am in love with your brother, Marcus. Way before you even came into the picture! And I came here to peacefully end things with you so I can finally be with him. To think I was even feeling guilty about all of this—but I don’t think you deserve any sympathy.”
“You can’t be with him, Liv,” he said. “The marriage is between you and me. Open your eyes and see the reality. We’re getting married soon, and it’ll be wise of you to cut off all ties with him.”
He stepped closer, close enough that I could feel his breath on my skin. But all I felt was disgust. The sheer urge to get out of that room made my stomach turn.
“There’s nothing you can do about it,” he continued, his voice low. “It’s too late. You and Damon are not happening. There’s nothing you or anyone can do to stop this wedding.”
“So what if there was no Damon?” I asked, anger bubbling up again. “Would you just use me anyway? Be selfish and pretend to love me to get what you want? Do you even realize I actually gave a fuck about you?”
“No, you didn’t,” he said flatly.
“Don’t do that, Marcus. Don’t fucking do that,” I said. “You know exactly what I’m saying.”
“And you know exactly what I’m saying too, Liv,” he said coldly. “We’re both in this for what we have to gain from it. That's it. There’s no way out of it.”
He looked so damn serious — so unlike the man I thought I knew. I couldn’t believe I’d actually cared about him.
“So this is what our marriage would’ve been like, huh?” I asked bitterly. “If Damon wasn’t in the picture, you’d just keep sleeping with your stepsister? Is that really what you want? Why don’t you just be with her instead?”
“Everything is already in place for the wedding,” Kimberly cut in sharply. “The only thing left is for you both to show up that day. You might think you have a choice, Olivia, but we didn’t make the rules. We didn’t arrange this. So you need to get off that high horse and face your reality.”
I shook my head, as I turned to her. “I don’t care. I don’t care what’s been arranged. It’s either Damon or no one. After all, he’s still a Kingston, isn’t he?”
The moment the words left my mouth, the room went silent. You could’ve heard a pin drop. But I didn’t care. I was already halfway out the door before I even realized I’d moved.
I slammed it behind me and stormed down the stairs.
Wendy was sitting alone on the sofa. She jumped up the moment she saw me. For a brief second, I wondered if she had any idea what her daughter had been up to.
“Are you guys okay?” she asked, reaching for my hand, her eyes scanning my face. “What’s going on? Are those tears?”
“I need to talk to you,” I said firmly. “And Mr. Kingston. I have something I need to discuss with you both.”
