Impending Wedding 💍
Impending Wedding 💍
Chapter 57
After Damon left, I sat on the bed for a long time, staring at the door, completely lost in thought. My mind wouldn’t stop replaying everything he’d said, every look, every silence that had followed.
Then I stood, unable to sit still any longer, and began pacing the room.
I really needed to talk to someone — to let this heavy mess out of my head — but the only person I trusted right now was Grandma. And I didn’t want to trouble her anymore. She’d done enough already.
I feel guilty. The thought came out like a confession I couldn’t swallow. But should I?
The proposal had caught me completely off guard, but I’d tried to be honest, careful, gentle even — not wanting to hurt him. Yet somehow, I’d ended up doing exactly that.
I sighed, rubbing my arms as if I could ease the unease crawling under my skin.
He’ll come around, I told myself. He will.
But the words didn’t sound convincing anymore. The longer I stood there, the heavier the silence felt — thick and suffocating.
Before I could talk myself out of it, I grabbed my jacket from the chair and headed for the door. My heart was pounding, but my feet were already moving.
I needed answers.
I needed to see Marcus.
So I left the house.
MARCUS;
I lay on my bed, with Kimberly. Her arms wrapped around me as we cuddled, naked together.
"Nothing will stop you from getting your inheritance, Marcus." She murmured , fingers tracing lazy circles across my chest. "Don't worry too much about it."
The earlier rush of instant anger I had felt had slowly dissipated. What lingered now was some kind of foreboding, anticipation, like it was simply waiting foe the worst to happen.
I stared at the ceiling. “Maybe I should talk to Father,” I muttered. “Give him a heads-up in case Damon tries to play foul.”
Kim’s hand moved up to my chin, tilting it gently until our eyes met. “Don’t worry about Damon,” she said softly. “It’s too late for him to do anything. If I’m not mistaken, the wedding could happen tonight if need be. Everything’s already in place…”
“Except the bride,” I finished for her, my tone dry.
Her brow arched. “You think she won’t show up?”
“What else am I supposed to think, Kim?” I ran a hand through my hair, exhaling tiredly. “She’s with him right now, and—” I paused, my eyes darkening. “It felt like they were back together again.”
Kim’s expression softened. “Olivia wouldn’t do anything to disrupt this wedding. She’s doing it for her family too. Damon or not.”
“And what about Damon?” I pressed, my voice rougher this time.
Her brows furrowed. “What about him?”
I reached out, my thumb brushing along the lines between her brows. “Come on, Kim. Damon is—”
“What?” she teased, her tone light but her gaze unflinching.
My finger trailed down, stopping at her lips. “You know what,” I murmured.
Her lips parted as I pressed my thumb against them. Slowly, she took it into her mouth. The warmth of her tongue wrapped around me, and a low, involuntary sound escaped my throat. My breath hitched. Every small movement sent a jolt of heat through my body.
My other hand slid to her jaw, my thumb tracing the curve of her cheek as she looked up at me through her lashes. Those eyes—calm, confident, knowing exactly what she was doing—made it worse. Or better. I couldn’t tell anymore.
“Kimberly,” I breathed, the word sounding more like a sigh than a warning.
She released me with a quiet pop, her smile curling slow and deliberate. “You’re thinking too much again,” she whispered, her fingers trailing over my chest.
My hand slipped behind her neck, drawing her close until our foreheads touched. “And you,” I said quietly, my voice low and rough, “are dangerous when you do that. You’re not answering my question.”
Her laugh was soft, almost taunting. “Question? Did you ask one?”
I huffed. “Okay, yeah—not exactly a question. But you know what I was talking about.”
“And that’s exactly why I said you’re thinking too much again,” she murmured, brushing her nose against mine.
I pulled back slightly, searching her face. “Do you think I should go talk to Dad?”
Kimberly tilted her head. “And tell him what?”
“Kim, I’m really fucking worried,” I admitted, my voice tight. “With Damon, I don’t know what to expect. He could do anything. What if he runs away with her? What if he finds a way to—” I paused, swallowing hard, “to marry her instead? What if he convinces Dad somehow? I—”
“Stop,” she whispered, pressing a finger to my lips. “Stop it.”
"Why? Your mom is down there doing everything to make this wedding a success. We have been doing everything possible to ensure everything is in place for the big day. But what if all this is just a fruitless effort?"
"Can you just stop being so pessimistic? Come on, Marcus, give yourself a break. At least...."
"Can you not downplay my feelings about this. It's not a joke."
She sighed, as she tangled her fingers in my hair. "I know. Just take it easy on yourself. You shouldn't be scared of Damon. Even if he plans to do anything of...that sort, he doesn't really have enough time for that. So relax, and leave the worrying to me."
Somehow her voice soothed me a bit. She was staring directly into my eyes, which was fluttering as the sensations of her fingers in my hair was driving me crazy.
Her breath brushed across my face as she whispered, "I should be the one most stressed about this wedding, you know?"
"Hm mm," my eyes were shut now as I leaned towards her hand.
"If it is wasn't for the inheritance and the position attached to this wedding...which would automatically mean you didn't have to get married to her, I...I would be glad."
I opened my eyes to find her extremely close. Our lips almost touching.
"Why?" I whispered back.
"Because I want you all to myself." She didn't hesitate, and I wasn't sure if I was surprised or not. But the words sent warmth all over my body.
My gaze drifted to her lips, the urge to claim them instantly enveloping me, but Instead, I reached for her hand, pulling it from my hair as I tried to move away from the bed.
"We shouldn't be doing this, Kim. You should go back to your room."
"I love you, Marcus."
My eyes widened and I could feel my pulse quicken.
"What?" I stared back at her face.
"Come on, don't act so surprised. I know you feel the same way."
"We're step siblings, Kimberly."
She snorted. "Yeah sure. Step siblings who fuck each other every other day. It's not like we are blood related. Who gives a fuck?"
This was one conversion I really don't want to discuss right now. As much as I love having Kim in my bed... underneath me, on her knees I'm from of me, or bent over, I try as much as I can to ignore how wrong all this was.
But truthfully, I'd been attracted to her for a very long time now. And if I were to be honest with myself right now, I don't think I would be able to keep my hands off her.
"What happens after the wedding?" I asked.
She smirked. "Do you want to get rid of me?"
"No, I just..." I paused, then grabbed her from the waist, "come here."
She straddled me immediately and I didn't hesitate in crashing my lips on hers.
