Chapter 6
The day after this fracas, Charles Torres broke down and called me several times.
I turn a blind eye to it, but the man just seems to be a natural bitch.
The more I ignored him, the more he pestered me.
Just like when we first met, he favored me who only dared to curse him by launching a fierce pursuit.
In the end, it's just Charles Torres being slightly interested in something he's never touched before.
Back at the office, I set to work on the work I had left behind these days.
To tangle with Charles Torres, papers piled up on the desktop.
It was already 5pm when it was all processed.
Picking up my cell phone on the desktop, it was startlingly filled with dozens of missed calls from Charles Torres, which froze me a bit.
In the past, I never ignored any message from Charles Torres and always took the time to respond to him even when I was busy.
I froze for a long time before I called back.
The other end soon picked up, and Charles Torres' angry rebuke hit him in the face:
"Why don't you answer your phone, do you know how long I've been looking for you?"
I sneered.
But if he, Charles Torres, was even remotely attached to me, he wouldn't have been unaware of where I worked.
Where else could I go after gradually losing my socialization over the years to be with him?
As if sensing my difference, his tone slowed down a bit and said:
"Aren't the two families having dinner together tonight to discuss the details of the marriage, so don't be late."
That's when I remembered this one.
It does seem that when a woman owns her own business, she does leave extraneous things behind.
But I did not refuse, and since both families were present, it was a good time to announce the withdrawal as well.
After all, I don't want to tangle with Charles Torres again for a moment.
Arrived at the restaurant where the reservation was made.
Before I even entered, I heard the sweet voice of Alice Bruno:
"Auntie and Uncle don't be angry, sister-in-law might just be absent for a moment of anger."
I sneered.
This was before I even walked in the door and Alice Bruno couldn't wait to fan the flames in front of my family.
And Charles Torres glanced at me awkwardly, and he was relieved when I pretended not to see it and walked right into the house.
Seeing me, my father, who was still smiling, suddenly became furious and cursed at me:
"Ungrateful son, on such an important day you have to ask Yanzhi three times, really don't understand anything at all!"
I opened my mouth and before I could speak, I was interrupted by Alice Bruno:
"Alright uncle, sister-in-law is here, although she must have something more important to do when she makes everyone wait for her on such an important day."
She was fanning the flames to the extreme with this comment, but she wasn't wrong about one thing.
Anything is much more important to me today than the Charles Torres bunch.
Seeing that everyone was here, Charles' mom and dad glanced at me coldly, contemplating the fact that there was no intention of getting ready to start the meal.
I know that these two have looked down on me since the beginning, believing me to be nothing more than a demolition thug, unworthy of their son.
As expected, Mother Gu snorted coldly and mocked:
"Let's see, we Torres family have trained you for so long on how to be a good wife, and you still haven't done it, it's not something that can be taught in a good way."
I subconsciously looked over at Charles Torres, but only saw him nodding slightly, a look of approval on his face.
