Chapter 70 Chapter Seventy
Chapter 70 Chapter Seventy
Before I even have time to react, she releases her hold on Micklin and collapses almost hitting the ground, but I catch her before she can hit the ground. “Leilani.” I say, dropping to my knees holding her. “Leilani, baby. What’s wrong? You have to wake up baby.” I say, shaking her gently. She doesn’t wake up though. She just lays limp in my hold. “What did you do to her?” I growl, looking up at Micklin.
Micklin looks just as shocked and confused as I do. “I- I don’t know. I didn’t do anything.” He says, staring at Leilani laying lifeless in my hold.
“You did something. What was it?” I snap, holding Leilani tighter. As I stare up at Micklin, that’s when I see he has healed. “You healed. How did you heal so suddenly? What did you do to her that made you heal?” I growl, asking question after question.
He did something, I know he did. She was fine, until she touched him. So, what the hell happened. Micklin shakes his head, eyes even wider than before. “I don’t know what happened. She touched me and all the pain left my body. I don’t know how I healed so quickly. I swear I couldn’t heal before. I don’t know what happened. Please Beta Malakai, you have to believe me. I don’t know what I did.”
I growl. I’m not sure I believe him, but I don’t have time to waste. I need to get Leilani back to Samina’s house. If anyone will know what happened or what to do, it will be Samina. I scoop readjust my hold on Leilani and stand up, turning and running from Micklin’s house. I don’t stop until I am back at Samina’s door.
“Samina.” I yell. “Samina, please you have to help. It’s Leilani. Something has happened.” I holler through the door. Within seconds Samina is flinging the door open.
“Bring her inside. You can set her here.” She says, pointing to the couch. “What happened? She was fine when you guys left.” Samina asks, sounding just as concerned as I feel right now.
I watch as Samina rushes to the kitchen, getting a rag and running it under cold water. She places the rag on Leilani’s forehead, and I start explaining what happened.
“I don’t know. We were headed home and Leilani wanted to stop and apologize to Micklin. She got upset when she saw the severity of what she did to Micklin and he wasn’t accepting her apology. He was fixing to walk away and shut the door. So, Leilani reached out and grabbed him. When she touched him, she let out this awful scream. It sounded like she was in horrible pain and then she released her hold on him and collapsed.”
Samina turns to me with wide eyes. “You said she grabbed him?” She asks.
I nod my head. “Yeah, she did. Why? Is that important?” I ask, feeling more and more anxious the longer she is unconscious.
“I’m not sure. I don’t know much about Legacy Wolves. I just- I think I remember seeing something about the Legacy Wolves that can heal other wolves.” Samina says, going to grab a journal.
“What does it say?” I ask, as she flips through the pages of the journal stopping on a page and reading over it.
Samina looks both relieved and more concerned at the same time. “Well, basically it says that the Legacy Wolves that have the ability to heal other wolves can cause themselves a lot of harm if they aren’t careful.”
“What do you mean they can cause themselves a lot of harm? As in they can die?” I ask, looking over at Leilani. If something were to happen to her, I don’t know what I would do.
Samina sighs. “Yes, they can potentially die, but that is only if they overly exert themselves. It drains their energy, makes it hard for them to heal themselves. Leilani will be fine; she just needs a little time to rest. I’m sure she will be fine Malakai. We just need to keep an eye on her.” Samina says, trying to sound reassuring.
Until Leilani wakes up, absolutely nothing will reassure me. I don’t want her to reassure me. I just want Leilani to wake up. I need her to wake up. I shouldn’t have let this happen. I should have protected her. It is my job to protect her as her mate and as her Beta. I am failing at both right now, because there is absolutely nothing I can do to fix this.
I squat down next to the couch and take Leilani’s hand in mine. “Come on Angel. I need you to wake up for me. I can’t lose you.”
Samina puts her hand on my shoulder. “She is going to wake up Malakai. Just give her time.”
I let out a shaky breath. “Is there any other information about Legacy Wolves that can heal other wolves. I need to know everything there is to know. I will not let this happen again. I can’t let this happen again.” I say, squeezing Leilani’s hand.
“I will read over them again. All the information I have is limited. I wish I had more, but I will check again.” Samina says, giving me a sympathetic smile.
“Thank you Samina.” I say, not taking my eyes off of Leilani.
Samina starts reading over the journals again and I stare at Leilani, watching her breathe. Afraid if I look away for even a second, she might stop breathing or something. After the longest two hours of my entire life, Leilani finally opens her eyes. “M- Malakai?” She whispers, voice rough.
“I’m here Angel. I’m right here, you are okay.” I say, not really sure if it is a statement or a question. I am just so happy to hear her talking right now.
“Where are we?” She asks, still disoriented.
I rub her cheek, smiling at her. “We are at Samina’s house.” Leilani tries to sit up, but I stop her. “Don’t sit up yet baby. I need to make sure you are okay.” I say, staring at her. I was really worried I lost her.
“What happened?” Leilani asks, looking a little worried.
