Chapter 69 Chapter Sixty-Nine
Chapter 69 Chapter Sixty-Nine
"We will hold a pack meeting whenever you are ready to baby. Do you just want it to be the council members or the entire pack?" I ask, wanting to make sure I fully understand.
Leilani thinks about it for a second. "I think I need to hold two separate meetings. One for the council members and one for the pack. I want to do the pack meeting first." She says, staring straight ahead, as he continue walking.
"Normally the council meeting would come first, Angel. That way you can inform the council members of your intentions before letting the entire pack know." I tell her hesitantly. I know she is the Alpha, but I'm not sure how much Tiberius has taught her over the years about pack rules and regulations.
"I know." She says, smiling confidently up at me. "I think it's time the council members figure out that I am in charge and we will be doing things my way from this point on. The council members will learn of my intentions at the pack meeting with the rest of the members. They are not any more important than the rest of the pack and I want to talk to everyone at once. Until they prove their loyalty and show me that they deserve my respect, then I will treat them the same way they have been treating me. Like they are nothing."
I smile. There is the feisty, confident, powerful girl that I fell in love with. "That sounds perfect to me Angel. I will be with you every step of the way. If anyone has a problem with it, we will put them in their place."
Leilani gives me a huge smile. "Thank you Malakai, your support means everything to me."
I lean down and give her a kiss. "I will always support you. No matter what. Not only as your Beta, but as your mate and the person that loves you more than anything else in the entire universe."
"I love you too, Malakai. More than anything else. You are the most important person in my life and I am so happy I have you." She whispers.
I give her one more kiss, pulling her tighter into my side. I wish I could just hold her all the time. I never knew just having your mate close to you could feel so wonderful, but I don't ever want it to stop.
Leilani comes to a sudden stop in front of of one of the houses on the outskirts of town. "Is that Micklin's house?" She asks, already knowing the answer.
I can smell him in there and I'm sure she does too. "Yes, Angel. It is."
She looks up at me with sad eyes. "Do you think it would be okay for me to apologize now? You know check on him, see if there is anything I can do to help?" She asks, and I can hear the helplessness in her tone. I know she feels responsible for hurting him, but she didn't mean to. She had no idea how easily she could hurt him. Leilani would never hurt anyone intentionally, not without being threatened or something first.
"Of course it's okay. I can come with you if you would like."
Leilani nods her head. "Yes please. I want you to come with me Malakai. I'm sure he is mad and I don't know what to say to make it better. I wish I hadn't ever fought him." She says, as she starts rambling nervously.
"Hey, take a deep breath. Everything is going to be okay. I will be right here with you. Just start with an apology, okay?" I say, rubbing her arms in a soothing manner.
Leilani takes a deep breath, blowing it out slowly and nods her. "Okay. I think I'm ready."
I smile and take her hand leading her to his front door. I knock twice and take a step back, standing beside her. There is some rustling sounds and some footsteps. A few seconds later Micklin opens the door, and he looks awful. His face and arms are bruised. His leg is almost black, probably the broken one and there are several cuts that haven't healed on various parts of his body.
Leilani gasps and Micklin tries to slam the door shut when he sees who it is. I growl, a deep, threatening growl and catch the door, before it closes completely. "Show your Alpha some respect." I growl, in a lethal tone.
Micklin narrows his eyes at me, and I can tell there is something he wants to say, but he knows better than to disrespect his Alpha or the Beta of the pack. "What do you want?" He practically spits, crossing his arms over his chest.
I growl again, and Leilani puts her hand on my shoulder. "It's okay, Malakai." She whispers, before turning her attention to Micklin. "I came here to apologize, and to check on you. I heard you weren't healing properly and I wanted to see if there was anything I could do to help."
Micklin scoffs. "You want to help me? Haven't you done enough? You are the reason I am like this to begin with. You are a monster, no wonder why Legacy Wolves always stay hidden. They don't want people knowing what kind of damage they can cause to their packs."
Leilani flinches. I knew this would be difficult for her and I know he has every right to be mad, but I never expected him to call her a monster. "Watch what you say to your Alpha, Micklin." I warn.
Leilani shakes her head, and I can tell she is fighting back tears. "Micklin, I am sorry I hurt you. I never meant to inflict real damage. I didn't know when I was fighting that I was making it hard for you to heal or I wouldn't have fought you." She says, voice a little shakey at first, but stronger towards the end.
"Your apologies don't help me any. I am in pain, and I can't heal. You did this to me. So, unless you are here to fix it, then I don't want to hear your apologies." Micklin says, as he turns to walk away.
Leilani reaches out, grabbing ahold of Micklin's shoulder to keep him from walking away and the second she touches him she screams. The most blood curdling, pain filled scream I have ever heard come from anyone.
