Chapter 61 Chapter Sixty-One
Chapter 61 Chapter Sixty-One
Micklin chuckles. "I don't know if I'm the best in the pack, but I have had my fair share of fights and never lost. So, I believe I can easily be considered one of the best warriors."
I take a step towards him, smiling. "Well then, let's see what you have."
My claws extend from my fingers and I growl, showing off my sharpened teeth. Malakai rushes over, grabbing my shoulders.
"Leilani, you are losing control. You can't do this." He tells me through the mind link.
I laugh and respond through our link. "I am in complete control, in fact I feel powerful, like I know exactly what I'm doing. You shouldn't have kept this part of the ceremony from me Malakai."
"I'm sorry Leilani. Your father didn't think it was a good idea and honestly neither did I. I don't want you to get hurt." He apologizes through our link.
"I won't. The only one getting hurt here tonight will be Micklin, now step out of my way." I order through our link, and he just stares at me for a minute, but he finally moves to the side.
"Be careful." Is the last thing he says through our link before I turn my attention back to Micklin.
Micklin steps closer growling. His claws extend and a bunch of the other pack members start murmuring to each other. Most of them are saying stuff like they can’t believe I am actually doing this, or how I am going to get my ass whooped. I tune them out though, smiling at Micklin.
“I’ll tell you what Micklin, since you are one of the best warriors I will let you have the first move. That way it will be even more satisfying when I kick your ass.” I growl, making a come at me motion with my hand.
Micklin laughs and lunges at me. He swipes his claws across my stomach. I don’t feel it though, based on the look on his face I should have though. I growl, laughing. “My turn.”
Micklin looks at me weird and I lunge towards him, swiping my claws across his chest. Blood starts pouring from his wounds, but I don’t stop. I take his shock as an opportunity to punch him three times before he even has a chance to block any of my punches.
The murmuring gets louder, but I keep ignoring it. I kick Micklin in the side, making him howl in pain. I slice my claws across his chest again and his fighting reflexes finally kick in. The next punch I throw is blocked.
Micklin kicks me right in the calf, making the bone break backwards. It should hurt. I should be screaming. I mean I am a wolf and we do heal, but healing is painful and the worse the break is the longer it takes to heal. I heal instantly though. Micklin’s eyes go wide and he claws at me again, lunging forward to try and bite me.
I dodge him easily, throwing several more punches. He tries to punch me again and I catch his fist mid air, bending his arm back to an extremely uncomfortable position. Micklin growls threateningly and I snap his arm easily. Several bones break and he falls to the ground, howling in pain.
Malakai steps in. “Have you had enough Micklin?” He asks, pulling me away from him. I know he thinks I am losing control, but I’m not. I feel more in control than ever before.
Micklin growls, but he doesn’t get up. “Does anyone else want to fight Leilani?” Malakai asks, looking around at all the pack members. They all stare at me with wide shocked eyes. “I didn’t think so.” Malakai says. “Now, can we please move forward with the Alpha ceremony please.”
When no one says anything, Malakai takes that as a yes. Everyone starts whispering again. Everyone starts asking questions about me, questions that even I don’t really have the answers for. I listen to a few of the questions before tuning them out.
“What is going on with her eyes?” One pack member asks.
“Did you see how fast she healed?” A different pack member asks.
“How did she take him down so easily?” One of the other pack warriors asks.
“Is there something wrong with her?” One of our younger pack members asks.
“Should someone like that even be the alpha?” One of the council members asks.
I’m sure Malakai hears them too, because he gives me an apologetic look.
Samina walks to the front of the crowd and says. “I am tired of the whispers and questions. So, let me just say there is absolutely nothing wrong with our young Alpha.” Without even raising her voice she gets everyone’s attention.
Everyone looks at her, confused. “What are you talking about?” One of the older pack members says.
Samina smiles at me. One of her sweet loving smiles. “Our young Alpha, Alpha Leilani is special. There is nothing wrong with her and she most definitely deserves to be our Alpha.”
“How do you know she is special? I have never heard of a wolf with bright red glowing eyes, and no one ever heals that quickly. How can you say there is nothing wrong with her?” That same older pack member asks.
Samina chuckles, turning her attention to him. “Alpha Leilani is a Legacy Wolf. They are powerful, rare, gifted and they will protect the ones they love with their whole heart.”
“You have seen this before?” I ask, genuinely curious.
“My mother told me many stories. She said Legacy Wolfs are extremely rare, and no one has seen one in hundreds of years. That isn’t the whole truth though. What most people don’t know is Legacy Wolfs stay hidden, they are afraid of being hunted and executed. Legacy Wolfs need to be protected and cherished.” Samina says.
“Those are just stories. If you have never seen one, how do you know those stories are even real Samina?” One of the other elderly she wolves asks.
Samina chuckles. “Because Leilani isn’t our packs first Legacy Wolf.”
