Chapter 58 Chapter Fifty-Eight
"Me too babygirl." I whisper, holding her even closer against me.
We lay there for a long time, me holding her close. Neither of us say anything, just the sound of our hearts beating. Our breathing returns back to normal.
If I didn't know what her breathing sounds like when she is sleeping, I would think she fell asleep. A couple of minutes later Leilani sighs softly and whispers. "Malakai, I'm scared."
"Of what babygirl?" I ask, hoping it isn't because of something I did.
She shrugs. "It's stupid."
I kiss the top of her head. "Nothing that is bothering you is stupid babygirl. You can tell me anything that's on your mind. I will always be here for you."
Leilani is silent for a second, then she nods her head. "I know. I'm just afraid you will think less of me."
I sit up quickly, taking her with me. I look directly into her eyes and say. "Babygirl, there is absolutely nothing you can say, or do that will ever make me think less of you. I don't care what it is."
She gives me a soft smile. "I'm scared of the ceremony. I don't want to hear what everyone thinks of me being Alpha. I know most of the pack members don't think I deserve this position. I also know you have threatened everyone, and I appreciate it. I just want the pack members to respect me the way they do my dad and you."
I cup her cheek with my hand and smile. "You do deserve to be alpha babygirl. It is your birth right, and you care more about this pack than anyone else I know. You have always cared strongly about our pack, even as a little girl. As far as respect goes, you will have to earn it with some members, but every alpha has to earn respect, male or not."
Leilani stares at me for a minute, thinking about everything I just said and then says. "What do you think they will do when they find out I'm special or gifted? Whatever we are calling it."
I shrug and smile. "I honestly can't say for sure babygirl. I'm sure it will take some getting used to, but this pack will protect you. Once they see what a great Alpha you are, they will do everything they can to protect you."
She kisses me and smiles. "Thank you Malakai, you always know what to say."
"How about we get dressed babygirl and go watch some movies or something to take your mind off of Saturday. How does that sound baby?" I ask, rubbing her cheek gently.
Leilani gives me a mischievous smile. "Well, it doesn't sound as good as what we just did, but I would love to."
I chuckle. "Nothing will ever be as good as what we just did babygirl." I pause and then lean in to whisper. "Not until we do it again, that is."
She bites her lip seductively and nods her head. "I can't wait for round two."
I wink and give her a passionate kiss. "Me either babygirl."
I would do it again right now, over and over again if I wasn't worried about hurting her. I know she is probably sore, and I don't want to push her. It took every bit of self control I had to take things slow with her and even that didn't last very long.
"You know." She whispers, running a finger up my arm. "We could do it again right now."
I chuckle and shake my head. "Babygirl, you have no idea how hard it is to say no to you."
She smiles. "So, don't say no."
I lean in and kiss her again. "How about I help you get cleaned up and we will see how you feel babygirl? I don't want to hurt you baby."
Leilani sighs and gives me a sweet smile. "You would never hurt me, but okay." She kisses me again and slides out of bed.
I follow her to the bathroom and turn on the hot water in the shower. The bathroom fills with steam, and we step in. I take my time washing her, making sure I am extra gentle with her intimate area.
I know she says I could never hurt her and I would never dream of it, but I want to make sure she is okay. It's my job to take care of her as her mate.
When we are done I give her a soft kiss under the spray of the shower and turn the water off. "Come on babygirl let's get dried off and find something comfortable to wear."
I dry her off first before drying myself off. Neither of us have any plans of leaving the house for the rest of the day, so she puts on a tank top and sleep shorts, no bra or panties. I think she is just trying to tempt me and it's definitely working.
We spend the rest of the day, cuddling on the couch watching movies. With the exception of having to answer a few phone calls about last minute details for the upcoming ceremony.
No one wants to bother Tiberius, mostly because I ordered everyone not to, so all the planning has fallen on me. Not that I mind, at least this way I can make sure everything is perfect for Leilani.
Every time I answered a question about the ceremony I could feel Leilani tense up. Even when I left the room I knew she was listening, because when I would come back she looked worried and kind of like she was going to puke.
That night she was so exhausted, she fell asleep in my arms on the couch and I carried her to bed. I spent half the night watching her sleep, I can't believe it's almost time for her to become Alpha. The closer it gets the more nervous I feel, but I don't let Leilani see that.
Saturday morning comes way to soon. Leilani is putting on a brave face, but I know her well enough to know she is about a second away from a panic attack. If one little thing goes wrong before the ceremony she is going to have a meltdown.
The worst part is, since Tiberius isn't here to take care of everything I am the one that has to be there to make sure everything is set up correctly and ready to go for tonight. Leaving Leilani at the house alone, aside from the house staff.
"Malakai, please don't leave me alone all day. I need something to distract me, otherwise I'm going to lose it." She begs and I hate that I have to leave.
I pull her into a tight hug. "Babygirl I would stay if I could, you know this. I need you to be strong and just prepare for tonight. Maybe you can practice your gifts baby, make sure you are in complete control of them before tonight." I give her an encouraging smile and she nods her head.
"Okay, I will do that."
I kiss the top of her head. "If you need me babygirl, just call me or mind link me and I will be back in minutes."
She pulls out of the hug and smiles. "I love you Malakai."
"I love you too Angel." I give her a goodbye kiss and force myself out the door.
