Chapter 10 Chapter Ten

Chapter 10 Chapter Ten
I stare at my ceiling for what seems like hours, until I hear my father’s office door open and close again, followed by the sound of footsteps and another door opening and closing. My father must be done for the night. The other pair of footsteps make its way down the hall towards the stairs, pausing once more just in front of my room.

I quickly turn my bedside lamp off, leaving only the light from the bathroom shining. The person stands outside my room for a minute. Malakai, I hope? My bedroom door cracks open just enough for Malakai to peer inside. He looks tired and stressed. “Goodnight angel.” He whispers, thinking I’m asleep.

I smile to myself. Without thinking, I respond. “Goodnight Malakai.” He may frustrate me beyond my wildest imagination, but he is my mate and I want to be with him. From the dim light of the room, I can see Malakai’s face redden. “Leilani… I… umm… I didn’t know you were awake.” He stutters.

“I know.” I say confidently, smiling.

“Well, goodnight I will see you in the morning.” Malakai says as he slowly closes my door.

Biting my lip, I debate whether to ask him or not. “Malakai wait.” He stops and opens the door again. “Will you stay? Please.” I ask, as I sit up in the bed. Malakai is silent for a minute. Probably searching for a way to tell me no, without being mean.

“Leilani, I really shouldn’t. Your dad is already upset with both of us.” Malakai frowns.

I don’t care if my dad is upset. “He doesn’t have to know. Please you can leave before he wakes up. Please Malakai.” I beg.

Malakai sighs deeply. He takes a quick look around the hall, making sure no one is watching before entering my room. “Lock the door.” I say slightly flirtier than I mean to. Malakai gives me a warning look. “Leilani, if I am going to stay nothing is going to happen. We are only going to sleep. Do you understand?”

I pout, but nod in agreement. Malakai locks the door and makes his way to my bed. I lift the covers for him to get in. He scowls at me. “What’s wrong? I was just going to let you under the blanket, it’s cold tonight.” He continues scowling. I drop the blanket, only to have him rip it back away from me. “What did you do that for?” I ask confused.

“Why are you still wearing his clothes?” Malakai growls.

“I don’t know their comfy, I guess. Why does it matter?” I ask, genuinely confused.

Malakai’s eyes darken. “It matter’s because they smell like HIM.” He practically spits on the last word. I stare at him for a moment before breaking into a smile. Malakai is jealous of Lucas. I never imagined Malakai would be the jealous type, especially not of Lucas. He has absolutely nothing to worry about Lucas is gay, I will save that tid-bit of information for later. I can use this to my advantage.

“If it makes you jealous, I can take them off, they do smell really good though.” I tease, lifting the shirt to my nose and inhaling deeply. Malakai growls deeply. “Change now.”

Laughing, I say “Fine, I will.” I take the t-shirt off revealing the lacey black bra I put on once I got home. Throwing the shirt across the room, I reach for the drawstring on the sweatpants. Malakai’s eyes darken further, it’s not anger. Lust maybe? I slowly untie the drawstring and slide the pants off. Underneath I am wearing the matching lace panties. Malakai lets out a quiet moan. If I weren’t a werewolf, I probably wouldn’t have heard it.

Smiling I throw the pants over by the shirt. “Happy now?” I ask playfully, biting my bottom lip. Malakai nods and takes his gray t-shirt off. His abs flex with the movement. I blush as the thought of running my hands over his abs forces its way into my mind. Malakai smirks. “Like what you see angel?”

“I’ve seen better.” I say quietly, trying to force a blank expression.

Malakai narrows his eyes and throws his t-shirt at me. Laughing I slide the t-shirt over my head. Malakai smiles in approval. He lifts the covers and climbs into bed next to me. His heat is radiating off of him, but I snuggle closer anyway pretending to be cold.

“Thank you for staying.” I whisper.

Malakai pulls me closer to him, making me squeal with excitement. “I wanted to stay angel. I’m sorry for today with that boy. I don’t want you to be afraid of me.” Malakai says quietly sounding guilty.

I reach out and cup his face with my hand. “I’m not afraid of you Malakai. Why were you trying to kill Lucas? He didn’t do anything.” I ask innocently.

“I searched for you all day. When you texted your phone off his and told me that’s where you were I drove as fast as I could over there. I rang the doorbell and knocked with no answer, which made me think something was wrong. I ran inside only to find Lucas shirtless with wet hair. When he told me you were finishing your shower, I assumed the worst. If he had touched you in any way I would have murdered him.” Malakai says protectively.

“Wait. You thought we were taking a shower together?” I ask trying to keep from laughing. Malakai nods his head slowly.

Laughter escapes me. “Malakai until today I had never even been kissed by someone, why would I let you kiss me, then hop into the shower with Lucas?”

Malakai laughs too. “You were mad at me Leilani, and you thought I didn’t want you. I thought maybe you were with him to get back at me or something.”

Laughing harder I snort. My eyes widen as my face turns bright red. I can’t believe I just snorted in front of Malakai. Malakai smiles. “I will just take that as a no.” He says laughing.

“No. I would never sleep with some random boy just to get back at you.”

Malakai smiles and pulls me closer until my body is pressed against his. The warmth of his body melts all the stress from today away. Snuggled into his body feels like the right place to be, hopefully he is feeling the same way.
