Chapter 78
Emeralds POV
When I arrived home, I was still green. I told Jeremy, “I’m sorry I really wanted to ride one. I mean it’s they are like out of a fairy tale you know?”
“I know you did but you also scared me with how green you looked. You still look green.” He said as he carried me over to the couch and sat me down. He then gripped my cheeks in his hands, “I’m going to get some ginger ale for you to drink and make something light for dinner.”
“Thank you.” I said.
“I just don’t want you to have to lie to prove anything to anyone and that’s including to yourself. If you’re scared then you’re scared. You don’t have to lie to anyone.” He said going into the kitchen.
“I know. I guess I saw it this way. I rode around on them when I was a kid and now I wanted to do it as an adult. I mean I loved it as a kid. My memories were so happy and I was so fearless. I don’t know when I became fearful like that of heights or anything.” I explained.
“Maybe something happened to you where heights are concerned and you honestly just don’t like them.” He said.
“I don’t know. I don’t remember anything happening with heights. But my memories as a kid are coming back to me.” I said as he came back with some ginger ale.
“Well, from what you have remembered so far, what is your greatest memory?” He asked as he went back to the kitchen. I watched as he took out fresh veggies and a knife and cutting board from the cabinet.
I thought about it. There were so many fond ones.
“Well, I know one of my favorites was my dad having a tea party with me in the playroom. I made him dress up in a girly hat, and princess gloves. I then made him sit on one of the tiny chairs and use my tea set to pour fake tea. What was so great about it is that one of the maids saw us and the look on my dad’s face was like embarrassment. He was suppose to be this big guy dressed in all black and scare people and here he was dressed in all black but had girly gloves and a girly hat and sipping fake tea. It was so funny.” I explained.
“I can only imagine their faces.” He laughed as he washed the veggies.
“Right. It was just so unlike him.” I said.
“Any other ones?” He asked as he started to chop the veggies.
“Yeah. There was one where I had complained that it hadn’t snowed in forever. I complained and complained about it. I remember one day I had went to sleep and the when I woke up the next morning there was snow on the ground covering the whole yard. There wasn’t like 2 feet of snow or anything like a blizzard had come through. It was the perfect amount of snow and the perfect type of snow to make a snowman. So I hurried up and put my boots on and ran outside. He came out with me and made snow angels with me. He built snowmen and snow women with me. He played snowball fights with me. I remember him smiling and laughing so much. But the more I think about these memories the more I realize that in a way, even though I know his job his a tough one as a god, I as a kid brought out the unconditional love. To prove there is a childish love where certain aspects of today’s world are taught to you. He taught me to be selfless and kind. He never wanted me to see the bad parts that he had to deal with. So in a way we made each other a better person.” I explained.
“I know what you mean. I could never picture your dad doing those types of things with you or any one for that matter because he is such a tough guy. But at the same time you were his daughter so he was willing to anything and everything to make you happy. He did teach you a lot of traits that I admire about you. One of those you showed me today of being so brave when I knew you were nervous and scared. But you decided to be brave and show to the world that you are not afraid of anything. That you are willing to give things a try.” He said as he started a pot of boiling water.
“Thank you. That means a lot to me. I try my hardest you know to make sure I’m always 100 percent trying my best. I always want to try new things or things I used to do to make sure I didn’t grow out of my fears or if I did then that’s fantastic. I always at least want to try.” I said.
“I think it’s great though you have those memories. See with me we didn’t have a fake tea set growing up or a playroom that was pink and purple and so girly. We were boys so we didn’t have the girly colors but to see that in action makes me understand how different our childhoods really were.” He said.
“Right. And you didn’t grow up with the Nightmares either.” I said.
“True.” He said.
“Did they scare you at all?” She asked.
“Honestly? Yes. Mainly because of one I have never seen the looks of them before. I have never dealt with them, seen them, or anything. They are scary to people like me who have never seen them. Especially because I have never seen them in a battle or anything. Yeah they listened real good and looked like they acted like dogs but would they be scary in a battle. Most likely yes. Your dad had even said they don’t attack unless he tells them to. So I can only imagine what kind of damage or attacks that he has taught them or how protective they really are of him and you. I mean I would one day love to see them in action. Not in a real battle but in a practice round just to see what they could really do.” He explained.
“I get what you mean. I was actually curious myself.” I said. “Maybe next time we go to my dad’s house he can show us.” I suggested.
“I think that was a great idea.” He said.
“Awesome.” I said.
“I think that your memories are coming back are a good thing.” He said.
“I think so too.” I said.
“So tomorrow back to work though huh? No memory hunting for tomorrow?” He asked.
“No. It’s back to work. Monday through Friday as usual.” I said.
“I know I have to go take care of my charges tomorrow. So it’s back to work for me as well. My dad wouldn’t let that go on much longer. Plus it gives me something to do during the day. I trust Theo so hopefully it isn’t messed up too much.” He said.
“I understand.” I said.
He was quiet after that so since I was feeling better I went up to him. “Jeremy?”
“Yeah?” He asked me.
“You know, last night we were both so tired after swimming and hanging out, that, um, we didn’t really, um talk about, living together. But you were serious you want me to be here with you?” I asked nervously leaning against the island and biting my lip.
He turned towards me and reached a hand out to hold my chin in his hand, tilting my head way up to look at him. “Emerald, I would t have said it if it wasn’t true. Of course I want you to live with me. It would honestly make me one of the happiest men in the world if you were to live with me full time.”
“It’s not just the soul mate bond making you say that?” I asked nervously.
“That’s not how the bond works. And no it’s not that making me say it. These are my honest and true feelings. I really honestly want you to live with me 100 percent of the time. No going back and forth or anything. I want you here with me. How about on a day we are less busy so like this Saturday coming up after seeing how this week goes, we go to my island? I’ll bring you and your friends and we can make a day of it? Then once you have seen both houses you can decide where we live?” He asked those neon green eyes looking right into mine.
“Okay. I’d like that. But how do I get to work every day if I live on your island if I decide that?” I asked.
“I’d teleport you every day until we are able to see if you can do it yourself one day.” He said.
“Okay. That sounds like a plan.” I said and then he lowered his head and kissed me.
I kissed him back until I had to be the sensible one and unfortunately put an end to it because we were in the middle of cooking.
“Darn it. But tonight we are making it official. Not the soul mate bond but I have ideas.” He smirked at me.
I felt myself blush from my head to my toes as I had to sit down the couch away from him and fan myself.
