Chapter 71
Emeralds POV
After having such a good night playing with my friends and talking to them and even getting new business idea, I couldn’t have been happier.
Though I knew this Sunday it was going to be busy. We already promised my dad that we would go to his island to the island of the Hellions. Which had me worried and scared. Like this was going to be super interesting. We met up around noon, Dad and Mom coming over to Jeremys house though I really didn’t think she deserved to go this first time but whatever. My Dad seemed happy so I couldn’t really say anything to it.
I heard the knock at around noon and looked at Jeremy. “Must be your Mom and Dad. Are you ready for this?”
“No but I I am quite curious about the island. Maybe being there some memories will click with me you know.” I said as I flattened out my green shirt. I wore a simple green t-shirt with blue jeans and black flats just for the main fact I wanted to be comfortable. I didn’t know if there was a lot of walking to do or what we were going to do. Jeremy wore something similar to me. He had on black jeans, black army boots and a black t-shirt. But overall we were ready to go.
Jeremy opened the front door and said politely, “Hello Chad, Hello Topaz.”
“How are you two?” Asked Topaz.
She wore a red and white polka dot dress and red high heels. while my dad wore simple khakis and a blue polo with brown loafers.
I was confused about my mom’s attire but I let it go. I wasn’t going to fight with her over something stupid. At least not today that is.
“So Emmy are you ready to see the Hellion island?” My dad asked walking into the living room.
“Yeah but I’m still confused why I don’t really remember anything.” I said.
“Sometimes if your mind does not want you to remember something it will block off those memories. It will put them in the deepest darkest corner of your brain until something unlocks the core memory.” He said.
“But why would my brain not want to remember if it is where I grew up and had happy memories?” I asked.
“Yes most of the memories were happy but you did not like the other islands I have. The ones that are more on the meaner side.” He said. “Sometimes most likely your memory has blocked those out for sure.”
I nodded. “I understand I guess.”
“Well whenever you are ready we will go.” Dad said.
“Thank you.” I said.
I took a few deep breaths to steady myself while Jeremy walked over and held my hand for support and then I nodded, “Okay, I am ready.”
“Alright then. I need you to keep holding hands with Jeremy and I will take us to the Hellions. I do not think your powers are strong enough yet on your own to teleport you to the island by yourself.” He explained.
I nodded. I held hands with Jeremy as tight as I could. One second we were in his living room holding hands and the next minute we were in a boat of some sorts. I looked around at my new surroundings.
It was so dark. It was a boat in some of the darkest, black water I have ever seen. Even the sky was dark and inky black except for some torches in the water here or there that were on poles that lit up a path way.
I looked behind me to my dad and was about to ask a question when I notice his outfit changed. He was now in a long black leather coat, no sunglasses, black leather plants and black t-shirt and black army boots. His hair was tied back into a pony tail.
“Dad why did you change?” I asked.
“I have to make sure at all times here I am respected and honored here. One second they do not think that I am in charge and they could possible over turn all my hard work that I have ever accomplished.” He explained.
“Oh. Well why is the water so dark?” I asked trying to understand but ask as many questions as possible.
“That is not water. It may look like water because we are gliding so easily through it. But in reality it is actually thick tar. It is thick tar so that this way anyone that does try to escape they will be stuck here in the tar forever.” He explained.
“Oh wow. Is that why our boat doesn’t get stuck?” I asked.
“Our boat doesn’t get stuck because I made it so it does not get stuck. I am using my powers right now to make sure of that. To make sure we also are being steered properly through the tar water.” He explained.
“Oh.” I said. I thought about that. It was so dark and creepy looking. I could see why he wanted to scare people and gods alike. He wanted to make sure they feared him and for good reason.
I saw mountains with a bunch of caves suddenly rise up to my left and right. It looked like we were traveling through a narrow pathway. It was lit up by torches stuck into the sides of the mountains.
“What is this? Are these mountains?” Asked Jeremy before I could. He was just as curious as I was about all
this.
“These are where my creatures live. They have each a cave to themselves as an adult. When they are younger they share with siblings until
they are big enough to venture out on there own.” He explained.
“What are these creatures again?” I asked.
“They are called Nightmares. The reason being is they look like creatures out of someone’s nightmares. They are there to kill at my command. But until I saw otherwise they are like dragons with features of a lion, but they have the personality of a dog. When I was younger that was the best I could come up with. I did not want to make there name any more complicated than what it had to be.” He said.
“So they’re nice right?” I asked just to double check.
“Yes.” He said.
“Okay.” Jeremy said though he didn’t seem to sure of himself. He seemed concerned and I guess for good reason. We weren’t sure what these creatures were but we were going to be on guard regardless.
I couldn’t help trying to glance into the caves as we went by. I was trying to catch a glimpse of one of these creatures. “Is it me or do I feel like I’m being stared at?”
“You probably will feel like that. They know of our presence. They are most likely up but being cautious about you. You are newcomer to most of them
who had not met you yet.” He said.
“So that’s why I feel like I’m being watched?” I asked.
“Oh yes. They are very smart creatures.” He said.
I nodded even as I was trying to glance around to still a catch a glimpse one of them.
