Chapter One Hundred and Sixty-One - I Thought We Were Done With Her
Alyssa
I am having some me time today at Wyatt’s request. He has some things to do anyway. I got my nails done this morning and went for breakfast. Now, I am doing a little shopping. I want to pick up some new lingerie and try to find a dress for next weekend. I don’t need to get the dress today, but I want some ideas. I need something sexy and classy. It is the only thing left on the list for Wyatt’s surprise next weekend. Everything else is sorted and ready. He keeps telling me he doesn’t want anything and hates his birthday, but it hasn’t made a difference. He will forgive me once he realises it, and if not, what is the worst thing he is going to do? Punish me? I can handle that. I love that. He hasn’t told me the reason why he hates his birthday, but I assume it has to do with his childhood. I understand it. I do, but I want to try and replace the bad and the pain of these things with good. He has come so far already, and I want that to continue. He deserves to be happy. He deserves the world.
I head into one of my favourite clothing boutiques. They have everything a girl can need in one shop, and the price range varies, so it isn’t just for people with money. It is why I have always loved this place. I take a walk around, picking a few dresses up to try on. I take them to the changing room to try on. I strip down and try the black, glittery, strapless one on first. It reaches just above my knees. It is pretty, but maybe something a little sexier. I will see how it looks in the mirror first.
I step out of the changing room to stand in front of the full length mirror. It hugs my body perfectly, but it isn’t perfect, not what I am looking for any way.
“Well, this is a sad sight. You here alone while your new best friend and boyfriend are looking cosy over lunch.”
I roll my eyes. I didn’t even have to look to know who the annoying voice belonged to. I thought we were done with this pain in the ass. Georgina! I turn to face her. She has a smug look on her face.
“What the hell do you want? I thought you had stopped being a crazy bitch and grown up, obviously not.” I say through gritted teeth.
She laughs and walks over to me. “I didn’t know you were going to be here. Do you know Angelina and Wyatt are having lunch without you?”
“They are friends,” I reply.
I had no idea the two of them were meeting today. None of them mentioned it.
“Friends? Is that what you tell yourself? They were looking extra cosy for two people who are supposed to be friends. Do you really think the two of them still aren’t screwing behind your back?”
“I trust them. I know nothing is happening between them.”
I speak each word confidently because it is the truth.
“You shouldn’t. Do you think the feelings and chemistry they had when they were together would just disappear? And come on, what man wouldn’t pick her over someone like you? I hate her, but even I know how beautiful she is and how she has no issue getting what she wants. You shouldn’t trust them.” She says.
“Nothing is happening between them. They are having lunch, big deal.” I snarl.
She steps closer and looks at me closely, not saying a word for a moment. “Oh God, you didn’t even know they were having lunch. If they have nothing to hide, why keep it from you? You should keep a closer eye on them, sweetie. If she wants him all to herself, she will get him.”
“Georgina, go to hell. I trust them. And even if I didn’t, it is my business. My relationship with Wyatt or Angelina is none of your damn business.” I hiss, my fists clenching at my sides.
She shakes her head. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you, Alyssa. Men will always choose women like Angelina over women like you. Deep down, you know that. If there were nothing, then there would be no reason for them not to tell you about their lunch meeting.”
Georgina doesn’t give me a chance to reply. She shrugs and walks away. I groan in annoyance and return to my changing room. She has put me in a shitty mood, shopping will need to wait. I will go for coffee and then see how I feel.
I hate it, but she has gotten in my head. I trust them, but she has a point. Why hide it from me? Why didn’t they tell me they were meeting? They didn’t need to tell me the reason; maybe it is something for me or something personal they don’t want to discuss with me, but they should have mentioned it. Wyatt told me he was meeting a friend. Angelina told me she had plans.
No! I can’t let that bitch get into my head. She could be lying. She probably didn’t even see them and just wanted to get to me. I sigh, putting my clothes back on and return everything to the racks, telling Cameron I would be back later or during the week.
I better not run into her again. Is there a chance she followed me here to try and cause trouble again? How would she know where I was, though? Whatever the reason, she better not start again. It has been months since we last had an issue, there is no need for her to start again unless she is bored.
I stop in at the first coffee shop I come by and order a large coffee. I find a seat and take my cell out to see if I have anything from Wyatt. I don’t. I find his name in my contacts, calling Wyatt. He doesn’t answer; it rings out. He always answers my calls. I sigh and set it down.
Georgina did have one point, why would he choose me over someone like Angelina? That thought doesn’t come from distrust, it comes from my low self-esteem issues, which I sometimes still struggle with. I know they wouldn’t hurt me, neither of them would. I am not one for hating many people, but I really hate Georgina.
I clear my thoughts, tired of thinking. I will ask him when I see him at home, and he will tell me because we don’t keep secrets. It isn’t how our relationship works. I wouldn’t keep running into Georgina from him. I will tell him and exactly what she said to me.
I was having such a good day, enjoying my me time, until she came along and ruined it. After my coffee, I will head home. I am not in the mood to be out now. I can only hope this isn’t the start of something, the start of her showing up again. With any luck, it was a one-time thing, but I will keep my guard up because I don’t trust Georgina.
