"I am so sorry! Truly sorry! Are either of you hurt?"
The waiter turned pale with fright. He quickly set the tray aside and grabbed some napkins to wipe Miranda down while apologizing profusely. "The floor was too slippery and I lost my balance. I am so incredibly sorry!"
Miranda frowned slightly but she did not blame the waiter.
She looked down at her arm. Other than a slight redness where Harrison had grabbed her earlier, she was fine.
"I am okay."
Her voice was cold. She did not give Harrison a single glance. Instead, she turned and naturally took Castillo’s arm. "Castillo, let's go to the private booth."
Castillo had been dying to leave. She nodded immediately and gave Harrison a nasty look.
The two women did not give Harrison a chance to speak. They simply walked around him and left.
As Miranda walked past, the wind caught the hem of her burgundy dress like a flickering flame. It felt like that fire was burning right into Harrison's heart.
"Miranda..."
Harrison opened his mouth to call her name, but she had already disappeared around the corner of the stairs.
His fingers twitched at his side.
He could still feel the soft texture of her skin and the faint scent of her perfume on his fingertips.
The feeling of emptiness in his chest was stronger than ever before.

Inside the booth.
Castillo poured Miranda a glass of lemon water.
She looked disgusted just thinking about Harrison. "Miranda, don't let him get to you. Just act like you heard a stray dog barking!"
Miranda picked up her glass. Hearing her friend's comparison, she couldn't help but laugh. Her bad mood vanished instantly.
"Don't worry, I'm not that fragile."
Miranda took a sip of water. She pushed down the tiny ripple of emotion caused by seeing her ex-husband. Her expression was as calm as if she were talking about a total stranger.
"I stopped caring about Harrison a long time ago."
She looked out the window at the deep blue sea. her eyes were clear. A faint, mocking smile played on her lips. "If I feel anything at all, it is only disgust."
"It's not worth wasting energy on a man like that. I just want to live my life now. I won't let anyone ruin it."
For the next three days, Miranda completely let loose.
She turned off her phone, ignored the news, and took no calls.
During the day, she and Castillo went diving and surfing. At night, they sat by the beach, listening to folk music and sipping wine.
This was the most relaxed she had been in years.
Finally, the last day of vacation arrived.
To avoid the exhaustion of a long drive, they booked flights home. As for the red Porsche, they hired a transport company to ship it back.
At 4:00 PM, the international airport was packed.
People moved through the arrivals hall as announcements echoed through the speakers.
Christian wore a black casual trench coat and large sunglasses. He leaned against a wall, sipping a bottle of water he just bought from a vending machine.
Ever since his sister went off the grid, that old fox Dominic had been taking his anger out on him.
There had been a constant barrage of phone calls and threats. Christian didn't care. He simply followed his sister's lead and refused to answer.
The silence was wonderful.
He had received a text from Miranda with her flight info, so he drove down to pick her up himself.
Christian unscrewed the cap and took a drink. His eyes scanned the crowd.
Suddenly, his gaze locked onto the VIP exit.
A black business wheelchair sat there. It wasn't flashy, but the man sitting in it was impossible to ignore.
The man wore a dark gray custom suit. Even sitting down, he had a natural aura of nobility and coldness that made him stand out in the crowd.
Clifton?
Christian’s hand tightened around his water bottle. His brow twitched.
What was he doing here?
Was he here to pick up Miranda too?
Christian was about to smile and walk over to say hello.
But a second later, he froze in his tracks.
A tall woman walked out of the VIP passage.
She wore a white Chanel suit with her long hair draped over her shoulders. Her makeup was light and elegant.
The woman had a bright smile on her face. She walked quickly to Clifton’s side. Their familiarity suggested they were much more than just friends.
"Clifton, have you been waiting long?"
Christian was several yards away and couldn't hear them over the noise, but he saw everything clearly.
The woman reached Clifton and naturally bent over. She reached out to tuck the cashmere blanket around Clifton’s legs!
Christian felt a surge of anger for his sister.
Clifton was Miranda's husband. How could he show up at the airport with another woman and act so intimate in public?
Did he have no respect for Miranda?
Christian didn't hesitate. He started walking toward them with long, angry strides.

Clifton pulled back as Isabella tried to adjust his blanket. He frowned.
He hated being touched by others, especially people he wasn't close to.
"Don't touch me. I don't like it."
Clifton's voice was flat. "There is no need to use my grandfather to pressure me into doing small things like airport pickups."
Isabella had flown abroad yesterday to get an important document from her father. She returned today.
The grandfather had ordered Clifton to pick her up.
Clifton happened to be nearby for a meeting, so he stopped by. He wanted to make it clear that she should stop using the old man to manipulate him.
Isabella felt embarrassed by his bluntness, but she quickly put back on her gentle mask.
"I understand."
She nodded obediently.
In her mind, she didn't care if Clifton liked her right now.
She had checked the flight schedules. Miranda was landing at this exact time.
As long as Miranda saw Clifton picking her up in person, even just a glimpse, her goal was achieved.

Isabella looked up and saw a man in sunglasses staring coldly at her.
"Who are you..." Isabella started to ask.
Clifton saw it was Christian. A flash of surprise crossed his dark eyes.
"Christian?"
He spoke first. His voice was steady and revealed no emotion.
Then, Clifton glanced at Isabella. His tone became even colder. "Go to the car first."
Isabella was smart. She could tell these two knew each other well.
She didn't ask questions. She simply nodded. "Okay. I'll leave you to talk."
She carried her bag and walked away quickly.
However, as she passed a large pillar at the corner, she pulled out her phone. She snapped a secret photo of Christian.
